The Fox Fishing & Golf Festival – 2023

PGA Tour Professional, Ryan Fox returned to Waihi Beach, New Zealand, to host his annual charity fishing and golf event. Ably assisted by his Celebrity Skippers, the event raised a record amount of funds for the local surf lifeguards and coastguard.

Finally tonight Ryan fox has spent the past year teeing it up at some of the most prestigious courses in the world but this weekend he returned to his home away from home why he Golf Club hosting some familiar faces of New Zealand sport for his annual fishing and golfing Fundraiser oh it’s been a fantastic start of the weekend two of my favorite things um certainly golf today and the fishing yesterday um beautiful weather here in y he and I think you know we’re doing a great C so it’s been fantastic and just loving it so we got the rest of

The day to go and it’s just going to be more more fun perfect just what you want for for being in the country here a little bit and um i’t sh a shotgun for a long time so it was a it was a nice change I didn’t quite hit browny’s golf

Ball though so uh I’d probably like a Rego at that and nice to hit a few shots again and and just good bunch of people and everyone’s having a bit of fun you know a little crowd around the teas and a few laughs at and a couple of the bad

Shots and it’s you know it’s just what you want for for an event like this we a great day for it as well fish we spent a lot of time pulling on ORS going up and down Lake kapiro there we sort of have Wednesday afternoons off from training

So I thought I need to do something else here so just jump down on the course and lost a lot of balls to start off with but slowly finding my feet yeah golf is just an awesome way to escape from from rowing when I can yeah well I think

Watching Dyan on the gallery like he had the um the fast swing speed right up there with the tour Pros so that was pretty impressive um Eric can certainly hit a pill as well though he’s got some distance but then also yeah foxy you know man that guy can swing it and he’s

An incredible golfer and it’s just awesome to see him in the flesh do his work oh it’s great to be back great people you know the teams that um turn up each year it’s great to see those faces again and of course catching up with foxy and anaka again and um to be

Back in y great little Golf Course um everyone had a great day fishing yesterday so just that feel of you know the crowd’s been able to walk amongst us and have a chat to Foxy and you know just be involved in the weekend’s fantastic I haven’t delivered yet but

But I’m hoping that the next 12 next 12 hes um is a little bit better than what I’ve produced so Far I mean we’ve got an awesome crew here obviously having foxy here and a bit of all you know when he’s walking around the golf course but yeah Tom Dillan and Eric you know they had a big ball so um you know those those medalist Olympics certainly heating up for next

Year so they’re going any as good as the golfers and you know they’re going to bring in spe of midal which is going my golf career started when I was really young actually on this golf course I I to come out after school um Tuesday I think it was Tuesday or Thursday junior

Junior after school um and then obviously leing took over I think I still played a little bit but really 2016 after 2016 Olympics I was like I’m going to get into it I think I watched Lydia play and I was like man this is it

I’m going to do it and a few of the mates did it so you’ve been playing since then and just absolutely loving it it’s such a great escape from uh from from the high pressure of sport haven’t really contributed yet for the first few holes but look I know like once we you

Know get a bit of hydration on board and you know we get a bit better and um you know it’s just good fun the end so that’s the that’s the big part of it for me me and it’s all enjoy me standing on on the T box rather than playing with a

Group and you know we’ve got some great celebrity Skippers again um you again changed a few of them up which is quite cool you Eric’s back again but you know having Dylan and Tom and Ben come up and browny and dad give up their time again

And they’ve been up here the last couple of years as well is very cool and um seems like everyone’s enjoying it and you it’s great to have all the support you know we’re we’re looking after a couple of great Charities here with the lifeguards and the and the surf lifes

Savers and um you know any little bit helps and I’m you know glad we’re we’re pretty full this year with with sponsors and with teams Foxy’s an epic man I met him in Tokyo had a good yard and just messaged him on Instagram to see if I

Could Wrangle onto this sort of thing and yeah he’s just he’s a top bloke and yeah we we get along well and yeah’s it’s awesome being seeing him uh do so well on the on the on the world stage you know when I was when I’m traveling I’m always watching them watching them

Play and yeah it’s cool man it’s just been an epic day everything’s been super cruy obviously the weather’s been put on I got put on a pretty epic boat uh caught a pretty epic fish and now we’re playing golf um so yes can’t complain got it and Boy
