Do you want to know something go on that our wedding cuz I know you have a wedding coming up it’s coming up quick let me tell you and so I can probably pass a few things on to you given I’ve had one give me some advice you know

What I was missing hit me with it I was missing I was missing a really good host an MC someone on a microphone someone to adjudicate someone to give a few laughs yeah I feel like feel like when you got a big wedding yeah you need to have

Someone to to keep the crowd entertained all have you so have you looked looked for anyone yet well I do happen to know someone you do yes you always seem to know someone why does this always happen to me it does you’re just you’re in the

No I’m in the no and you know what Leon Anderson at Leon Anderson entertainment is one of the funniest dudes that I know I’ve seen a few things here and there yeah my absolute crack up you see him sometimes s at uh the Newcastle Comedy Club yeah yeah mate absolutely hilarious

I kind of wish I uh met him before my wedding wouldn’t he be good he’d be so good yeah absolutely and you know what he’s actually just the biggest Speedway fan yeah I know I think I uh heard that absolutely loves it so what’s he do so

Stand up comedy obviously which we just mentioned before Sports functions MC’s weddings there you go does a bit of everything yeah yeah helps out with fundraisers and just Fant but all around fantastic blow so if you’re ever looking for something like that MC any of these sorts of things

Corporate we’ve been speaking about get on to Leon Anderson at Leon Anderson entertainment sounds Good Good day everyone welcome back to the latest episode of the heat1 Motorsports podcast coming up on today’s episode we’ve got our first International Rider uh came into the studio and done an interview um absolutely fantastic interview Danish international Freddy yakobson uh mate this was a absolutely awesome interview such a nice genuine

Down toe guy um and he’s he’s raced against the best best BLS in the world uh he rode for kingslin last year uh rode for grew Johnson the Polish extra League uh he’s ridden for D Milla in the past as well as through all the the Danish leagues so um absolutely

Fantastic uh interview I really hope you guys will enjoy this one I certainly did I thought it was great um yeah it’s fantastic talk so anyways hope you enjoy Freddy Jacobson here he is Australia’s been enjoyable though so how long have you been here now I’ve been here for

About 12 Days by now I came the night race Aussie at Brisbane MH so uh came in there flew in and Jose’s brother or nearly brother C in same same they came into Sydney and picked me up and uh joined along for the US title since then

And yeah I’ve been cruising since and I was here last year as well five weeks so I’m pretty much a head and greeter boy now rate myself as but uh yeah they’ve adopted you as their favorite son they taking me in under the wing so I’m enjoying it and head and greeter Pub’s

Not a bad feed too a I’ve been there they do a good chicken sney yeah with a big photo of picko on the wall too oh yeah yeah everyone clapping on the back and asking if it’s him on the wall yeah yeah exactly yeah same thing all the

Time yeah man I I’m so biased but I love I love Newcastle I love the lake mcy area the hunter Valley it’s it’s my favorite place die here 100% just cuz you got everything in Within Reach like you got sitting two hours away Newcastle about 30 minutes away and you can go

Into the country or do whatever and yeah it seems like there are new people coming along cuz the whole area here is like new houses being built literally everywhere so all the time there got to be something good going on yeah are you do you like the snow do you get much

Snow in Denmark yeah we do get some but it’s probably only there for about two three weeks in total in the year so there not that much anymore as it used to be when I was a kid we had or always remember like we got like month of snow

But okay but now we get around yeah three weeks or so so so do you do like do you travel and do snowboarding or skiing or anything like that yeah cuz Denmark’s flat as anything so you can’t really you can go on a hill which is maybe 50 vertical meters or so

Like you don’t really get to do the real deal so we go to France or Austria Sweden Norway so go good stuff that’s what another thing too that I love about Australia is yeah it might be six hours away but we do have good snow fields yeah the snow itself isn’t fantastic but

I mean no you still got the possibilities that’s the thing like we went to Fredo last year Bray C and J and me and good stuff yeah for the mountain biking part though but of course yeah like we were there I think start of December and they still no threadb then

So oh okay lovely yeah I it’s in during winter I’ve never been to threadb or down that way in summer cuz I’m not much of a mountain biker I’m a bit heavy I should it’s only down hill you’re not going up though that’s true like the

Lift going up yeah that’s true but um I try and get as much snowboarding in as I can every year it’s just 6 hours mate it’s a bit of a drive but yeah it is at least we’ve got it here we don’t have to fly anywhere to do it which is like we

Got we need to do more than 6 hours traveling to to do it at our places well like I need to go 10 hours up in Sweden or 12 hours down in France or something like that of course yeah same for us really or more even so mate it’s it’s

Been a good couple of weeks the Aussie TOS have just finished um you know how did it feel being on the spanners for Josh the last two weeks or so oh it was it was a busy time it was not easy uh we have had a few problems along the way

With some broken seat brackets and problems with uh wheels and few other things we was a bit stressed in in of the meetings but it’s been good it’s been enjoyable and completely different experience like when I was at the track people kept asking me if I was like you

Know eager to ride or get on the bike but you know when you’re a mechanic you’re like in a different zone or like your energies level is not really like I didn’t have any eager to jump on the bike at all like fair enough the next

Day we got home I was like n now want to King to have a ride so yeah and same with the thing like everyone kept asking me if if there was like a chill Vibe around the aie titles compared to to everything else but because everyone always thinks that Australia is very

Laidback which it is but I had the feeling that there was so much tension going on within the series but probably also because there was like close battle at the top of uh of the standings as well so no I think everyone was pretty focused and uh and all into win and yeah

There was definitely a few get inss with a few Riders as well so no it was good fun and yeah cool experience to see it from the mechanic side yeah and what’s uh without giving away too what’s Pico like to work for is he is he uh is he

Nice to you does he throw spanners what’s yeah no he’s good you got to leave him alone when he comes out after going through the tapes or something of course and no it’s it’s it’s actually you need a bit of patience with him because he comes out and he probably

Spends five or six minutes just talking to himself or whatever I yeah and he says for about four or five things and it’s actually first or six thing you need to listen to so sure we learned along the way just to let him be him and and everybody’s the same I’m I’m

Probably the same in my mean is are going to say the same but that you need to trade me like this way or that way and you know you got to get the best version out of him end of the day so that’s what it’s all about a good stuff

Mate so apart from doing all the Aussie rounds and stuff when you’ve had some damn time in Australia what have you been up to what have you been doing uh well been traveling most of the time so far to be honest and uh yeah cruised around I’ve done hate of running around

Head and greet as well and I’m trying to get a race ready for my own season to start in March as well so so now I’m get having this week off play some golf go swimming go up to I think it’s called uh yes in river alen river river been away

From here yeah where the hell is that I’ve heard of Allen River yeah okay yeah right going there such a cool place as well jump out from the cliffs and yeah cool oh good stuff heading down to Newcastle tomorrow morning to jump theweather B and yeah that’s beautiful

Spot there mate run along the coast as well yeah we um down at Merryweather I used to go down there and there they got the big concrete wall and used to play tennis against the wall so if you got a tennis racket I’m sure Josh would have a

Couple yeah it’s good fun down there get all hot and sweaty and then go jump in the bars it’s beautiful spot it’s good it’s good and if good weather made get a nice 10 it’s beautiful yeah oh we struggling a bit with that this week but it’ll come around it’s better than where

I’m at cuz my place in Denmark now they had minus 13 like earlier or late last week so yeah so I’m a better place now 100% mate so technically when you’re cuz it’s a it’s a summer sport over in Europe Speedway so you’re doing summer pretty much all year round you know race

Over there come here for a couple of weeks it’s you got it sorted mate yeah it’s good it’s good and know I get to do some racing as well and uh be in this Speedway mix so no it’s all good it’s good fun and you do you said before that

You’ve got a you’re riding at miljour on the 26th is that right so what meeting is that again I think it’s the pH Crump oh okay and they run it at a 70 75th years anniversary meeting so awesome yeah there’ll be us a few top riders in

There we be there I’m same Masters J so yeah now that’d be good and is that would that be your first ride since you since you finished the season yeah it will be I’m uh probably about to have a practice one of the next few days cuz I

Haven’t been on a bike for about three or four months now so oh that long well of course so I’ll try and get out and have a practice and spin here one of the next few days and yeah and then I’ll go straight into do the mura meeting yeah

Good stuff mate and um and you then you’re heading over to wa doing the big trip over there which would be um interesting yeah good fun like when I was here last year last winter I was here five weeks but I didn’t do any traveling other than Fredo ah okay so

I’m Keen to get around and see some new places and uh especially the know when dead dois I get to ad to Australia as well and see some new places so I’m k for that man I’ve I’ve never been to uh Western Australia I’ve never been to

Perth but I would love to I’ve heard just the city it’s just absolutely beautiful great place of the world yeah it looks modern and clean and like so good beaches and everything’s and wolf be able to show you around show you all the best spots I’d imagine definitely

He’ll know his way around yeah good stuff well Fred take me back to like it take me back to where you grew up where it all started for you um so where abouts in Denmark were you born and where did you grow up I’m from Little

Village called IO which is a close City to fiad which is a recognizable Club within Speedway it’s about 7 k from there so grown up there me Whole Life lived there until uh last year where I moved out of home yeah for the first time so yeah grow up there uh basically

Born into a Speedway family my dad used to race as well and he was uh when he was younger and uh and used to be a team manager for Denmark as well together with Eric Gunderson and Jacob olon so and that was just that time when I was

Born when he was sort of getting into the team manager role and yeah he’s uh he’s been a team manager for Nikki Pon and Ronnie Pon and B P all these guys charlie Jer he had that whole era he had all them boys on the under 21 yeah cool team

Yeah good Stu and that was a big task I got a few he told me a few stories from back then imagine yeah yeah there’s a few things going down on win camps and whatsoever but uh I love it as it should be so now so I was pretty much born into

It and he had a season in England as well raising for for cradley all yeah good stuff yeah cradley he so so I didn’t really have a choice when I was growing up thrown into it pretty much yeah pretty much so I had a go when I

Was 3 years old on the loc track okay cuz in Denmark it’s a it’s a regular thing that you start early cuz we got the 50 cc Speedway class in Denmark and when I was a kid we probably had around 150 Riders on the 50 c is that right

Jesus and you raise that from your like you you can race when you’re four years old on you 10 on those bikes and then you move on to the 80 CCS right okay and back then we had so many riders like even many of the guys I ride with now

Was was on the 50s back then like Matt Hansen Patrick Hansen like we was like riding regular every weekend against each other when we was 8 n 10 yep so I jumped on a bike then and I didn’t really like it to start out with and uh

But I was a big Speedo fanatic I would get home from school every day put a Chuck a bit old like V8s table video yeah watch the old GPS I had nearly every GP from 98 to 2005 I think that’s so cool man oh I I honestly if I had it

I would do that too that’s how much I love it yeah exactly like all all my friends would go home and play football or whatever and I still do that but all I want to do was speed anyway so of course so yeah then I came back two

Weeks later after having me first goal and yeah never looked back since then yeah good stuff so do you and the misses go camping often not as much as we’d like it gets a bit hard like you know you Drive x amount of hours down there to wherever

You’re going then when you get there you got to set up the tent it’s heavy it’s a big basted yeah pull it out yeah being there done there set it up Pitch your tent you know then it’s windy and it never packs up the same way you got it

Out I don’t know one person that’s actually set up a tent and then put it back in exactly how they no no they just never happens that is actually not a thing it’s impossible I I I genuinely dislike the whole even the 30C T thing that come out a few years ago even

That’s bit of a it went up quick but getting it back in the bag was no good and then there’s fights yeah there’s dramas yeah there’s like there’s like breakups over it it’s [ __ ] surely There’s A Better Way well luckily I do know a guy know a guy I know a guy Tommy

Down at ultrab down at bulloo he has got some of these hectic rooftop campers that he does himself be quicker quicker they look the best part is they look good on the car we we all love our Utes right we love our trucks you know you

Want the best canopy you want the best rooftop yeah Tommy can do so he does so he does trays canopies rooftop tents you name it pretty much anything to do with your fourwh drive he’ll do all metal fabrication one of the best sheet metal fabricators I’ve ever seen well you got

A four- drive you might have to go down and get him to hook you up mate I might be coming for you Tom because has some absolutely unreal gear and it’s different to everyone else yeah nice it’s awesome so definitely give Tom a call at ultrafab uh down at bulloo best

Best stuff they look unreal and some of the photos of the work he’s done yeah on Dodge Rams Silverados uh like 200 series Land Cruisers have to check it out get on there Instagram and their socials and have a squee wild anyways make sure you chat to Tom

Ultrab man that’s awesome and like you said you’re born into it you were destined to do it from the get-go but the fact that you had the passion to watch it as well like you know it’s that obviously they go hand in hand if you love watching it you’re going to you’re

Going to love being on the bike too yeah definitely and the thing is that I’m I often see myself like as a more of a Speedway fan that as a rider sure and like the way I’m into speedway like I follow everything even though I probably sometimes shouldn’t and it’ll probably

Be better for me to not like be that much into some resorts and things and what’s going on in the speed rather than just focus on me but yeah I’m a fan at end of the day I love checking out what’s going on my dad was a team

Manager also for some Danish League teams back in the day y okay and I would be like searching on the internet for riters for him to catch up and I’d put in names and names and good Stu yeah just fully fully fully into it all so

Awesome yeah bit of a nerd with a few things in Speedway but uh you and I’ll get along just fine then yeah no problem I think m i i remember there’s there’s one meeting that really sticks in my head and it’s um the the World Cup final

Of 2006 at reading now that was H Anderson in his prime yeah Nikki peton uh it would have been beani peton I I think it might have been Charlie Jeter and God I don’t know if ion was in that time oh 2006 possibly it maybe a young

Young Neils Christian Evon but um I remember that particular meeting there was crumpy in hands Anderson just going at it like just numerous times it was great to watch yeah so M when hands was on back in when in his prime he was nearly unbeatable yeah he was so good

And like he’s from the same area island where I’m from so he was the big thing and sure and there was so much media hype back in the days back then about Nikki and H as well cuz Nikki was the like the rider like the man Danish rer

He had won his first world title and ring obviously his next to and Hy was just like coming along trying to push him a bit and and they made huge commercials in the TV being showed on like the betting betting sides and companies and okay and there was so much

Hype about it that like that just I think growed him into the like advertisement sort of thing he had going as well like he was just a marketing person yeah yeah and yeah there was there was some good few years for hands back then especially 2006 was

His prime when he came in as a wild card in series or reserve and ended up six or something yeah exactly m i I used to love watching him ride he was just he was hard his nails like really aggressive and um I yeah he he unfortunately his prime was just during

That era where there was Nikki Tony Greg Jason like it was it’s hard to beat all those boys oh definitely definitely in the end and H is a such a technical rider also and I think that’s not the GP kind of racing you know whereas the GP

Is more like big open wide tracks most of them and then you get like two three indoor Technical and that’s where H excels with his racing style and his like he’s probably when he’s at his Peak he’s been one of the best in the world with his technique and he can just turn

On turn on a table like like no one else nearly so do you reckon that that could be because he spent a lot of time in the UK it could have been it could have been definitely he went over there early uh but even Denmark like I think Mark is a

Bit underrated in that sense because we got some technical tracks in Denmark as well and like you can ask a few Riders who’s been guesting in for a few Dan’s clubs over the last few years and they they’ve been going what the [ __ ] is this [ __ ] they come to really true they yeah

Like every track is not easy like they you can come to grenad on a night where it’s not very enjoyable or Al or even Fon and you know I think a lot of the Polish guys have bit of nightmares about slanger on a big day cuz they [ __ ]

Struggle with it oh yeah cuz it’s like in a swamp so if you go there on a like it’s been raining a few days before you know you’re turning up to a potato field really yeah and you need to hang on there so yeah so we got a few technical

Tracks as well so I think you can learn heaps of just just that but hansy definitely got a lot of experience from all his years in England and see because my dad never raced in Denmark in the Danish League I never watched it I never really um yeah I never researched it as

Much as I should the only sort of meetings I really did watch was at voyen because it was always where the the grand PRI were or the spe wave Nations or yeah the big ones yeah exactly right so um no it’s something that I I would

Love to get more into the Danish league and and research it more but yeah you know you got the British League the Swedish League the Polish league and then there’s like Poland you know extra league league one League two under 24s it’s just I don’t have enough hours in

The day but but now it’s a good time to catch alad’s League CU it’s getting Heap stronger like like even the 2023 season than the 24 which is coming up now we got so many good riders coming in and few GP Riders and top boys from Poland

Australia and England so it’ll be a very strong League now yeah good stuff um we we were speaking about it before so you said you started Speedway did you say you had your first ride at three yeah so you never did like Motocross or road racing or flat track or anything like

That it was always Speedway always Speedway since day one I done Hees the sports football handball table tennis a lot of sports but uh yeah Speedo was the main thing all I all I wanted to do all along and and I grew up in in in a

Neighborhood where there was a few other writers as well you know I had uh Christian Tyson who was one of the locals around me as well and and just a lot of other mates who was into speedway so that was just okay the thing we did

Sure yeah and uh we all just followed along like no one really stopped along the way before we reach our like 16 17 age like everyone followed along then and and now it’s obviously different because people need to make a living and and someone just satisfied racing someone can’t see themselves satisfied

Just racing and want to make a living off it as well so yeah so I grown up in a in a phase where we had a lot of local Riders and that helped me as well to to push myself and push each other into getting better cuz we turn up and we

Always had Wednesday like set practices days in field and we’d be 10 15 guys there so when you come out from the heat you’ll be just going straight in the queue again to go on the track and we’d just be going heat after Heat against each other from the tape every single

Time but but that’s what pushed us to get better Riders from a young age and and we had the league system and going from in the 50 c we got teams where you race four teams at a at a match so it’s maybe BR and hallad slanger and fiad and yeah

Yeah you race that since you’re like four or five years old so yeah right so you really get get living into it tell you what by the sounds of it that the Danish Junior Speedway system is pretty strong yeah yeah it’s been like that for

Years like you got many R now who’s been through the whole system like Thompson was Danish Champion 50 cc world champion an 80cc seem like I’ve been through you goton as well uh yeah Michael yeps and yens many of these Riders been through this whole phase and yeah everyone who’s

At my age now right okay like especially now in aussi I feel like so many start like when they’re like 18 19 20 especially now talk with Rohan Josh Pickering many late starters yeah late starters but you can still make it whereas us we start it’s just a usual

Thing you don’t start in Denmark when you’re like 16 17 no one does that everyone starts on the lower classes 50 cc 80 ccs and then grows up to the 500 and I think that’s just yeah the way the country works and culture so at what age

Fred did you start to think you know [ __ ] maybe I’m pretty good like I I could make a living out of this like were you one of those kids that excelled straight away and you were winning stuff all the time or did you were you a bit

Of a a battler and then got better as you got older yeah no without sounding like too self cocky I had pretty good talent yeah I had good talent when I was young I W the Danish championships on the 50cc’s 10 year old

And moved on to the 80 80 ccs and had a lot of uh good results there gotten the world champion European Champion nor Champion one most things and yeah good stuff it was actually bit of a culture shock for me as well because I was used

To always be the top three guy yeah growing up until I was 16 like I was always in the mix always up there like if it turned if I got four for 50 it would be a bad day yeah for me because I was just there and there about all the

Time and when I got to 500 it was completely different world and that rock me a little bit also and okay definitely made me into the person I am now as well because you need to turn your brain around from using to not be the one like everyone’s looking at like you’re the

Underdog now and you can only surprise and you need to work your way up and you take a few hits along the way and like I got I did half a season in the division one in Denmark which is the Junior League you can sort of say and then I

Got thrown into the Super League for fiood straight away and was handed a fiveyear contract professional contract with fer Dan and wow fiveyear contract yeah so they put a lot of uh how Cool’s that yeah put a lot of trust in me and that was a good cool thing for me as

Well but and how old were you Fred when you signed that 16 17 geez you must have been over the moon howy thinking like this is my job I’m going to do this for a living for the next 5 years at least yeah but I was still in I was still

Going at school at this time I did the the primary school until 9th and then I did 10th grade as well and then I had three years on College okay and that was until I was 19 was on the college so I was still doing the speedway thing along with the whole

School thing studying I think it was business marketing yep so uh so yeah I got that contract and and half season in me first year on 500 I had my debut on on the field Super League team against hallad Nikki came there right and I was

Yeah chuff two bits with that was it like looking at like a a God you know like looking up to Nikki for so many years and now you’re sharing the track with him like what was going through your head well that was the like coming

Back to my fan thing again that was one of the things I had to get most used to like I’d roke up to the starting line and I’d be more focused like who I’m racing against rather than actually racing because we had a few like meetings later I think Chris holder was

Guessing for ALR in Fon I remember I sitting at the starting line just looking at him like wow am I riding this guy now like like and I’ll dro the probably two seconds too late or something and I had I have so many things like that but just just cuz I’m a

Fan of the sport as well and yeah awesome yeah but no I did a few meetings then but I didn’t really do any good so they put me out of the team again rest of that year and and that was my first like real knockdown and like trying to

How do I get over that or like what do I do now and like you kind of need to figure out your way out of it because Speedways itself is Sport every right is the end of the day only for them so you can get as much help but you still need

To do the whole homework and grow work s so yeah exactly so no that was a yeah a bit of a change of scenery moving to the 500s and uh getting used to not not being the guy anymore but uh no I enjoy the experience and and learning to grow

As a rider and as a person and uh and obviously it made me the rider I am today yeah awesome mate so I got to get my car service soon no way I’ll do a few KS mine and Logan’s cars need doing too oh where got anywhere to go I’ve got a

Place in mind good absolutely brilliant local local to us ultr tune at Toronto mhm get on the phone right now and talk to Adam down there good and get your car booked in what do they do for me they do everything from servicing tires batteries airon You REO checks all that

Sort stuff you know what if you’re booking early enough you probably even get a lone car for the day that’s pretty handy actually M and and just I don’t have to get picked up and you just need that pece of mind that you’re getting a good quality service right where are

They at they’re down at Toronto I’ll look them up BLS like us you work away in the mines a lot I go up to the farm a lot we are putting KS on our cars yeah heaps heaps so you really need that piece of mind that your car is going to

Be A1 Plus the misses they need to make sure their cars A1 has broken down mate our kids need to be safe yes 100% all right so get down to alraune get down to alraune talk to Adam at Toronto he will sort you out sounds good so your your

Five-year contract uh were were you just riding for in Denmark for that five years or did you start did other clubs in other countries start calling you and and you start of started going abroad yeah I had a very good so that was a 15

Season when I had me debut and then 2016 I was thrown into the leag Super League team again and I did the whole year there and I actually ended up being awarded as Sur prise of the season the Dan League cool H and end of the year

There around the summertime I had a phone call of Matt Ford pool yes and he was uh like oh hello Fred how you going and like we were talking a bit here and there and like I I was a big pool fan as grown up because I’ve grown up like that

Era where they were the big deal and they were signing all the big Riders and I was a huge Tony ricardson fan growing up as well so they were the on so yeah so Matt Matt came into me and he said we got a meeting going on like uh probably

End of October like individual one like you you’ll be interested in coming and and we see what what we can do and I was like yeah I might uh might give it a crack but I need to ask my dad and and Mom first what we can do I was still 17

And I hadn’t even a a driving license then so so yeah past pass to that then we I ended up having a good 16 season and we went over for the for the meeting in pool then yeah okay and heapes of good Riders was rocking up there had a

Few GP Riders there and uh yeah a lot of the Polish boys and and I think I scored probably three points or something yeah okay were you into Reserve at number what what it was just an individual meeting individual meeting sorry it was like the ribbon thing okay they had back

Then and uh yeah I probably scored three or four points I didn’t didn’t do any good advertising for myself but I was only like yeah you’re like 17 or 18 17 18 I was just turned 18 then so it was a good experience for me and uh yeah fast

Forward two years later I ended up signing with them after having a good contact yeah along the way so sure so yeah and after that meeting I did in pool I remember I was sitting at Matt home or Matt Ford’s home and and I had a text message off Poland of a Polish

Number and opened it and there was the boss of posan yeah okay they hadn’t been in the league for about I think eight or nine years they haven’t been riding at at all and they were just starting up again ah okay of course in the league

Two in the league two okay yeah so I ended up signing for them and that was the only offer I had that winter as well yeah so I ended up signing for posan and like the amount of money I got was ridiculous it was nothing really in po

Yeah okay yeah like compared to what money people are on now in the second league I was getting peanuts right I did not care at all yeah but I still had to manage it around the school thing cuz I was at the this college for three years

So uh so I couldn’t do Sweden or whatsoever because that’s on a Tuesday like Wednesday works good in Denmark cuz yeah it’s an it’s a week day so Poland was good cuz I could do that on the Saturday or Sunday Y and then be go and launch it straight home after after that

On Sunday be home 5:00 a.m. and yeah I had me best made as a mechanic back then okay and he was going to the college at the same time as me yeah so we’d be rocking up that in yeah Friday to school and I’ll be picking him up in this I had

A B Nikki ped and old Sprinter back then okay yes so I’d pick him up on way to school and we’d be doing the school thing for five six hours and after school we launch it straight to Boston and and get there by night and wow do a

Practice on the Saturday do the meeting on Sunday and we’ll be home 5:00 a.m. in the morning crazy mate sleep to seven and straight to school again yeah M it’s a it’s a hectic lifestyle and when I was had um Sam Mar on a couple of weeks ago

He said it’s you know at at home all the fans they see the results they see the rostom and they see champagne and they think that’s all it is exact but mate the the it’s it’s that stuff that you’re talking about where you’re you’re nonstop yeah exactly flat out and you

Need to be if you want to be in the mix and you know if that’s what you want to do then that’s the sort of investment you need to do to get there and and I was fortunate enough I had my my dad which was really into speedway and could

Help me with all the bike washing and and stuff as well so when I was at school like I’ll probably first get home at at 4 400 p.m. or something and he already done a bit there and I would just come along and do the rest and so

Uh yeah that was a good time and good learning curve so that was me first ever forine contracts yeah okay so I bet you were pretty stoked when you finished College because then you didn’t have that to worry about anymore you could just focus on the racing yeah definitely

That was in 2018 the summer there uh I I I stopped around or ended that mhm College around J yeah around 30 June or something okay yeah and the Fourth of July I had me first meeting in pool ah signed right after that yeah awesome and

That was a deal from my parents they wouldn’t let me go before I finished an education I can understand that yeah do now you’re a bit older do you agree with that or were you a bit annoyed back then that they wouldn’t let you go no I was

All right with it because I had good mates there and good life anyway but I was still wanting to do Speedway but I always grown up with the saying that like over like it takes time like don’t rush anything like if you’re good enough you’re good enough and you’ll make make

It anyway and yeah yeah yeah so so yeah so as signed I think with pool about a week ago before I finished my education I had the last exam Y and uh had a terrible last last exam but yeah but I did not care at all cuz I was leaving to

England about two days later yeah so we went straight there and uh big party finish exams party or anything oh really straight to the workshop yeah my best M finished as well like a few days before me so so we drove got in the vent and we

Just drove straight over there and sure yeah done me first meeting a few days later and and ever since then I’ve been fully committed to professional Speedway yeah awesome mate so yeah I even like when I spoke to you today I was like you know what beer do you want and you were

Like n no no beers I’m I’m off it trying to be healthy and I’m like yeah I need to I need to do that as well 100% oh it’s all priorities eh you need to relax as well and could enjoy a beer but uh but I’ve done that I had a big December

In that case I think back home so you know it’s it’s it’s all just about how much you wanted and and now I’m a bit of on a Fitness Mission to get prepared and you’re you’re looking fit so and you said you’ve been doing a lot of running

Since you’ve been here which is obviously good you need to keep keep up that you know maintenance while you’re not riding the bike yeah definitely and for me it’s it’s a bit of another case because I’m very tall compared to the rest I’m probably one of the tallest

Riders in the world 18 188 CM so jeez I’m trying to think who who would be around that height even pass Riders oh P Json was up there well he was he 90 he was 90 world champion 1990 I’m pretty sure so yeah there been a few tall

Riders anyway but H nilson was tall also but I’m still about a hit taller than him sure and with that I’m obviously going to be heavier than the rest so I’m trying to keep myself real lean and light because if I’m not doing that I

Know I’m not going to be able to follow the the big dogs if you can say that you know on a big 400 met polish track you know if you’re 10 Kil or less that is going to make a difference on a 30° summer day if whether you like it or not

So% yeah so I’m trying to get in shape for that and from memory was all R Ard pretty tall yeah he was very tall as well and quite a bit bit bigger I think from or something like that or he he be not as tall as you though or no I’m

Taller than him definitely definitely but I think Sam Master is up there as well one of the taller ones and you know he can still like he has a amazing like technique on even though he’s and Max great to watch how they ride the bike I was actually standing at Gilman

There on the a titles night and when I saw freaky in the dirt and like the way he was balancing in the bike I just I pictured H Nelson with like the old school riding style and the leg out elbows up and just like letting the bike

Dance under him nearly like so per picture perfect on a bike yeah awesome and you would have seen a lot of Maxs this year riding for grons with him or last year sorry yeah we was in the same team there so we we’ been practicing a

Lot together and uh sping a bit with what works and what’s not so a that’s cool as well yeah he’d be he’s such a nice guy too Max is just he’s so calm collected just one of the good BLS of the sport yeah very humble we’d easily

Be going out for a dinner or something before the meeting on race day we’ll yeah flying into the same airport wait on each other and then head out for lunch before the meeting and stuff so yeah he’s very cool and uh very humble down to earth even though he’s uh yeah

Doing good things yeah for sure so we just said then that you rode for GR Johns last year what was that like getting the call up from an extra League team now was that two years ago have you spent two seasons with them 22 and 23 so

How did that conversation come about uh it was actually a year before because I had a very good 2020 season in Poland in kisno in the first League which was probably my breakthrough year in in in top polish Speedway sure uh I had a very

Good d i was averaging I don’t know 2.1 something yeah well stuff and I had a few offers then I was I was at meetings in torren G grons uh and talk with chester HOV as well but but I ended up actually staying in in kisno at that

Time uh and that was due to a few yeah things in me private life like me father passed away the same year and I had a lot of other private things going on so I didn’t want it to to risk everything and sure like in that situation I was in

Moving up to the extra league and I felt like I was still young and I still needed a bit more experience under me belt and like I didn’t have the best result for some of the way tracks and I felt like I need to grow a bit so I

Still did the 21 season gno and and then I had a few clubs ringing me again and uh yeah I was talking to a few but ended up at gudan as we had uh yeah our brains just uh came together with like what they wanted what I wanted and yeah and

They and what I liked about them was like they didn’t they knew or they didn’t have the mindset that they needed to win when I came in like they wanted to be up there and get in the playoffs but you know I wasn’t going into a club which is

Like you need to win no matter what otherwise it’s a huge disappointment and sure like especially as my first year in ex leager you want to ease into it a bit because it’s many of the tracks was first time I even went there so you know it’s a new experience and everyone’s

Everyone’s done about 3,000 laps before our game comes there on Race night so you got to be more than ready to to get in the mix so uh yeah right so now that was a good experience and uh yeah sign there 2022 for for one year y um had a

Very good season probably better than I’d imagine okay good aaging 1.7 in me first ever y year in EXT leag and I had some good scores scored yeah I think 13 away in LNO and oh yeah yeah 12th away in tan beach marle in in G and awesome

Had some good things going on had good scores at home and yeah and that was mainly I think we had the situation with Nikki had his big injury yes in uh I think it was June when when we met lesno at home he had a big get pelvis or

Something yeah okay yeah so he had a big get off there and that left us only like four Riders rest of the year in the team okay and that benef came out to benefit me very good like we had me and another pole no but kovak who’s same age as me

We we sort of like grow under that because we got a like a heat extra every meeting and of course that was put a bit of extra faith and and Trust in us and we were there together with shamik pavis and caspak yep yep so it was us four and

Then the two Juniors so yeah so we could basically only really surprise and I grow a lot under that and had some very good meetings rest of the year and they ended up gring me with a a two-year deal lovely for the 2023 and 24 season and

Beautiful and that was a good uh good trust in and shoulder Club you can sort of say and uh Unfortunately they didn’t have the best 2023 season for them and uh yeah there’s always a few reasons for that and I’m very yeah sad about that but you know what happens happen and uh

I still need to try and move on and uh make me into a better Rider so yeah 100% yeah just you know it’s a it’s a bad day it’s not a bad life so no that’s what it is and you know everyone’s has bad periods and it’s not like I still had

Good meetings but you know some sometimes you just get into a face where things is not going your way and you know I had a lot of stuff going on around me like within Speedway which was probably not on on the best phas and I

Had a bit of England start of the Season which was not really benefiting me at all so yeah just a lot of mix things turn into you know a bowling ball which just kept get rolling faster and faster and faster yeah 100% And but like you

Said you you got signed for the two years as a bit of a reward um and then niiki come he was he was quite fit uh he I think was it his first maybe Nicki’s first ride for guw Johnson 23 he scored an 18-point maximum or something like

Chester H as well yeah you know against Madson and nichelson and all these guys you know and it’s like it must be cool knowing or just riding with in the same team as the BL that you looked up to as a kid from your own country as well yeah

It’s very good like cuz I’m grown up in a town 5 kilometers away from him like where he’s grown up and had his old boy childhood so so that’s been a cool thing and especially having him in the pits you know just to to be able to share my

Thoughts with him and and and he have a few eyes on me what I do wrong and and how to progress my career just uh not only on track but off as well cuz we spend so much time traveling together and stuff so that’s been a cool

Experience and it was cool to see him come back and do the big business with 18 point maximum after after not being able to walk for a few months really yeah yeah exactly and you know it’s it’s a shame uh it’s been quite well documented with a lot of other podcasts

About the Kings Lin Saga just the whole club it was it wasn’t a great time for for Kings Lin so but I think towards the end of last year kingslin started to score some good points they started to um you know get the ball rolling again and hopefully uh coming into this season

Should be um hopefully a better season for Kingsland yeah it looks like they got a good team on paper and also obviously wish them all the best I was just not in a very good position where I was in at the moment I I joined them end

Of 2022 and I enjoyed my time very much I had a very good setup good mechanic which I was very very grateful for and and thinkers was going good I think I was averaging 9.5 when the season was at home at home track though not the

Best that way I had a few good ones and a few bad ones but but all the tracks was nearly new to me so yeah so yeah I had a really good thing going on then and I was not supposed to to stay there for the 2023 season because my polish

Club Gans wanted me to Y to yeah keep me focused on that as well and uh and I ended up having that much good of a time in 22 that I thought I’m my sign for 23 yeah give it a go but I had a lot of

Meetings going on like start of the Season just from 16 of March to 16 of June I was on 46 flights is that right yeah in three months because had a very good start to the season and I I woned Danish qualification for the GP and St

Qualifiers yeah yeah and I was into the Danish national team doing meetings in yeah in Latvia I was doing SE qualifiers there I was in Slovenia Slovakia Hungary do meetings up yeah all the qualifications around together with my Danish Club y my polish club and then

Back to Kingsland again so I was flat out and then I had um yeah I had some issues in England with me bikes and things was not really going the way I wanted and yeah yeah it was a bigger pain in the ass than than an enjoyment I

Didn’t feel like it it giving me anything in that situation I was in and yeah yeah it was a not ideal sometimes you need to be selfish and take a step back to two take two steps forward again and uh yeah I ended up turning things around and have a

Pretty good end of the season again so and you know it wasn’t just yourself like you know Pico got injured and he was out for for a while you know um I think for memory uh Casper ja didn’t really last that long at Kings Lin um it

Just yeah it was just a number of things and then obviously Alex leaving was was a big thing yeah definitely cuz I done all me business if you can sort of say with Alex and he was the one bringing me in so with him not being there was huge

Difference for me as well and uh yeah yeah so no I still wish them all the best and looks like they done a good team for the 24 season yeah I’m hoping so mate cuz you know when I think of Kings ly I think of the great teams of

The past you know and and there’s no reason why they can’t get back to that no definitely not and it’s it’s good people running the club like they’re all friendly nice and I want all the best for the Kingsland Speedway so I hope they can uh can get the ball rolling and

Get off to a good start because uh yeah we didn’t really manage that last year so they’ be good they’ll be good and it pains me to say that cuz I’m an Oxford fan from from way back so but no I do I really do hope Kings do turn it around

But um but even with gu Johns uh this year you I think did you come was it second from the bottom in just on top of crosno yeah um you know it wasn’t a great year you know for GU johns but I think this year it’s looking like it’s

Going to be pretty strong with doy coming jamos coming like it’s going to be uh I got high hopes for G Johnson you boys this year yeah they can do good they can definitely do good uh with a yeah it’s nearly a brand new brand new

Team you can sort to say because the on 24 Rider has uh has moved up like arm out CL out is out so uh so yeah it’s a pretty much a new team and uh now they can uh do good things and they still chasing the playoff spot which they’ve

Never been in and that’s the the main thing they chase and uh yeah they have to because uh you know they got sponsors and and fans and base and everything they need to to keep interested and then and keep alive so yeah yeah so now they definitely have a good team and uh

Who’s the the Junior from last year is it plra Cas PL he’s quick man he’s so cool to watch yeah he’s got a good Style on him and he’s actually the lesno boy is that right yeah so he it’s a cool thing because he didn’t really get used

To lesno like they didn’t want to put his they trust in it as as far as I’m concerned that that’s why Gans brought them him under their wings and yeah he’s just grown into a very very good Rider and a serious Contender for for a good

On 24 spot in the extra league so yeah good on him and from memory was it plra that maybe took out Chris is that right yeah I think it was I think it was we had a bit of a moment there which was not good and yeah no I remember watching

It going [ __ ] like I just felt for Chris you know he’s he’s been battling for a number of years now with injury and that was the last thing he needed and yeah definitely n was good and like it’s just one of those not a freak incident because you know he’s always that fall

Casper with with go in Chris’s way but uh but it’s not like it’s not one of them crashes where you look at it and you’ll be be like w how can he get up from that like he just slid into the fence but like if you hit the wrong way

That’s it ex you nothing to do you’re just laying there as a yeah yeah as a nothing can’t do anything yeah I just I felt sorry for him in and like you could tell that that Casper pluger was obviously extremely apologetic like obviously not meaning anything and it’s

It’s a bit unfortunate but it’s still your accident on track that talks end of the day that’s what it is but uh no luckily Chris got on the men again and back on the bike and seems to be going good yeah exactly right um but yeah so

Big 2024 season for you um so you’re uh with ostrov sign with Ostro for this year coming now I believe they’re in League one is that right yeah yeah okay so uh what what was the story there cuz you were meant to ride for G Johns this year yeah I’m still under Contracting

Ingredients for the 24 season but I’m being loaned out to to yeah uh and I could have stayed as well but again sometimes you need to take a step back to take two steps forward again and that’s what I’m aiming for and sure osto is a very well-run club and uh good

People there good Ambitions and yeah they’ve gone all in to succeed in 24 as well we are four brand new riders coming in yeah so uh no it’s going to be good and M wasn’t there an Aussie was Chris Chris for a this year that’s right yeah

And he he was there in 22 as well when they were in the EXT Lea so he’s coming back again and we got Toby mushak yeah that would be brilliant chukov come as well we’ve been teammates in grents yeah right good stuff we got a young on on 24 Rider from goov vict

Yasinski who yeah very promising and good handy Rider also from memory I think did gleb have a he struggled a bit this year from memory I think even even for vasovic in Sweden he he was really battling this year last year yeah start of the Season weren’t really good for

Him but he got things turn around good and especially in gredients he got the better hold off and I know he’s changed a few things for next year so I think he going to be back in it and being a big Point score and I think it’s the first time in yeah

Probably five six years he’s not in the extra league as well so he’ll be hungry to to deliver and uh and get up there man I remember seen his name for the first time was it a Speedway of Nations back in the day when the reserve was a

Had to be a 21 Rider or something and man I’m like where’s this kid come from he was quick man yeah very like I’ve even raced him since we was in the ‘ 80s he’s because when we did the world champion championships back then on the

ADC was ha of Nations and we was in Chester about 2012 I think it was okay and I think 11 12 year old C rocked up down there with his parents to okay you do the meeting as well first time ever on 8cc so yeah

Yeah so that was cool and yeah even now I know a lot of riders even doy ones who are raised 8C with back in the day like Max freck and Brady Kurt Cameron heaps a lot of them boys has been through ADCC days as well so I known them for for

Many years through that so yeah yeah good stuff so Fred you’re 20 are you 24 this year 25 oh I’m 25 now turning 26 this year yeah right okay man even yourself mate you’ve got [ __ ] years mate yeah years it’s always a bit stressful because you want the things to

Happen now to you but I’m still good you see you still see Riders peing at being 30 now or 31 or 32 so yeah I’m no stress I’m going about my business quite seriously and just trying to improve year after year and make clever decisions and uh good stuff mate very

Mature very mature Outlook that’s good yeah I’m trying to trying to not so much for the Outlook but just for myself because I care about this it’s it’s a big investment to go into full-time Speedway you know you got you look sacrificing a lot of your daily life and

You know family events friends parties you know all the things that you could do besides Speedway but you choose not to because that is what you want to do so sure so when you got the chance why not go all in andul focused on it yeah beats it uh you’d rather be a

Professional spearo Rider than a plumber or brick layer or anything like that yeah definitely I had a few winter jobs over the years as well where I’m working outside in the cold in okay in December January Inus 10° or something and I’m thinking like I need to go faster so I

Can earn some more money so yeah go all in that yeah yeah fair enough goes wide SC winds it on watch out for fireworks in turns three and four here Nichols Tri the inside line as Wilshire goes wide wilshire’s got it in the bag fantastic ride from Todd wilcher that was

Inspirational now Anders I have a question for you what’s that where is the best place in the world it’s got to be Lake mcquary it’s home for us it is yeah it’s our home it’s the best place in the world it’s beautiful weather yeah the lake is huge yeah it’s amazing
