To all those who were questioning my previous posts then this is the proof in the pudding that marking your driver with a sharpie pen is fully legal to play in competitions as his driver has been tested multiple times and passed in every one
.
Even @ace_golfpro who was adamant that it goes against the rules finally changed his tune after emailing into the USGA himself to confirm whether or not it was legal

Using a sharpie is absolutely fine as the thickness of the pen is so minimal that it won’t have any effect on the performance of the club
.
Using anthing thicker such as a paint pen like heidiki matsyama was caught doing and later DQ’d for is illegal to play as it is a thicker substance and would then effect how the club plays
