Good news is they should have Patrick mcaffrey back he’s missed a couple games likewise with an ankle sprain but it will be terrific to get that 6’9 in frame back in the lineup to pound on Julian Ree and others yeah absolutely Patrick talked to him a little bit he
Looked looked like he was in good spirits he said he got a little bit of pain in that ankle but he was going to give it a go um you know 15 to 20 minutes get out there and just give it maximum effort he was here early knocking down three-point shots hopping

His feet getting around the big guy and then unfortunately stepped on somebody’s foot roll that ankle there’s not much you can do about that yeah and and it looked and he these are his words uh he said I thought I saw him after the game
The other night he said I thought it was a lot worse than it was this is the first Serious injury of any kind he’s had uh in his career so he said frankly uh I said well you look like you’re in a lot of pain well he said I had my hands
Over my eyes cuz I didn’t want to look at it he didn’t know what it was that sounds like a true freshman didn’t when you roll that ankle like that it’s that immediate shock of pain and you don’t know what it is in there but you know
He’s strong kid he’s got that thick lower body and uh maybe he’ll be a quick quick healer quick recovery and we’ll get ly back soon we can only hope he’s a terrific young man and the Hawks need him uh desperately in terms of boards blocking shots he had five rebounds

In next year and uh right now we’re looking at trying to do change up our scheduling or look at our scheduling process look at what we’re going to do for the tournament uh so it’s uh it’s a fun time I mean we we have some great basketball teams uh that are playing
Well we got some ranked teams and you know every you know every day is a new day you know with with some great competition going on you mentioned two teams tonight in the middle of the pack the Hawkeyes and the terens the NCA selection committee is not above taking
Eight nine teams annually for slots in the tournament out of the Big 10 respecting understanding how good of a league it is yes I mean that’s one thing that we try to empower our teams to do throughout the uh you know non-conference schedule up schedule some quality opponents because you know
Non-conference does matter uh because we know that once you get to the conference season it’s a gauntlet we don’t really have a I mean some conferences have a top and a bottom we have a top but then we have everybody else and we don’t have a game where people say hey I’m looking
For that team because we can get a win there is no easy game uh right now I believe the home teams are winning on about an average of a 75% uh percent right now so you’re not you’re not really getting an opportunity to uh to
Win on the road so and that’s tough I mean for our conference so but there’s some teams right now that are doing that but um you know it’s we’ve got one of the top toughest conferences in the country and I think that they show it day and day out well I can guarantee
After personally witnessing Purdue on Saturday uh I don’t know if they’re Head and Shoulders above everybody else but with Wisconsin with Illinois with Purdue you’ve got a a pretty good triple-headed monster there yes we do I mean we’ve got both all those three of those teams have
Won quality games on the road they protected their home court and you know there’s a best of best of uh the best is set to come so I think that you know we just have to uh it’s I mean I would say just you know get your popcorn ready and
Watch those teams play but but but here you know with Iowa you know they’re one of the most efficient teams out there um in our in our league when you look at Kim pal on the offensive efficiency uh coach mcaffry is done a great job you
Know kudos to him with you know setting the all time you know Big 10 uh wins record for Iowa and then also just uh recently setting the overall you know Iowa record for most games Win he’s done a great job uh and you know got a chance
