Vokey is back with a brand new wedge for 2024, the Vokey SM10’s have an improved CG for better launch and spin, different grooves across the loft models, new grind options and a brand new finish colour.
But how do they perform? Hannah Holden got her hands on a full set of Vokey SM10 wedges to find out…

V sm10 are here so what’s new and how do they perform luckily we’ve got a full path recourse here to test these out on we’re at kabot Citrus Farms so let’s go see how I get on with these first off can we talk about this new nickel finish
How good does that look literally obsessed with it now this is a new addition to the lineup this year and I think it’s just a really nice color and it’s going to be very popular I wonder if it’s kind of going to replace some of the more con colors we’ve seen over the
Last few years now I’m going to start with a 50° here cuz we’ve got just over 100 yards into this first hole and there’s a few Chang this year in terms of the different models and actually in the kind of lower stronger lofs the shaping is actually a little bit
Different so we see a smaller more compact Club here with a little bit of a straighter Leading Edge so they kind of Match Into Your shorter irons a little bit better we’ve also got narrower deeper grooves in these just because you’re hitting them a little bit faster
The balls com off the face a little bit different than the water irons so that’s going to help us get maximum spin so let’s see just how much spin we’re getting with some fresh wedges I’ve got different lofs this time interestingly went down to eyes for fitting we’ve gone
50° my longest just cuz it matched in well with my pitching W so not tell sure how it’s going to how far it’s going to go to be honest hopefully we can get it back to that pin well I’ve made it on the green but
Not Qui all the way back to the pin there was some serious spin on that I think I’ve actually spun it back off the green 9,263 RPM not bad 90 yards carry it well 87.6 yards carry is 2° today and quite windy come to Florida to film they said look how
Many layers I’ve got just as cool as it is in England I actually really like how that straight Leading Edge sits behind the barn and get what they mean now and in terms of matching it into like your pitch and wedge it just feel a lot more
Kind of like that style of club which is quite confident inspiring on like this kind of shot very consistent I mean they’ve literally pitched pretty much in the same spot 96 spin on that near in the 10,000s now throughout this range we see like a progressive CG so it changes
Depending on the loft of the club just to give you like The Right Flight and launch condition and a lot of this comes down to huzzle length so they move way up and down the club based on that so the CG ends up being lower in kind of
The longer IR or the most stronger lofted wedges and then higher in the shorter ones that’s going to help with kind of launch Spin and all the conditions that we want to get consistent look at that strip consistency that’s what we like to see now weirdly in my fitting I’ve gone for
Shafts that are like stiffer and heavier than my iron shafts which the F was like this is the opposite of what most people do but it worked for me so it’s worth going to get fit if you’re considering [Applause] these I mean that’s just been ridiculously consistent spins only vary
By 200 RPM across the shots that one carried a little bit further up to 91 but like four yards front to back pretty consistent now there’s obviously so many bounce and grind options in this range which is one of like the great things about it because you can pick so many
Different things and kind of dial it into how you want so M50 I basically use this for just full shots pitching so I’ve gone for that F grind which is like a full s which kind of gives away what you’re going to use it for full shots
And it’s like a bit more forgiving on that kind of shot them some of the smaller SS we also got eight bounce on this Which is less than I generally do have but actually it just worked really well in the fitting and you can kind of play with bouns to affect your ball
Flight so if you’re someone who hits it really high actually going up to like a 12bs and kind of this of your longest wedge can bring the ball flight down a little bit I’ve been hitting a bit too low recently hence why we’ve gone kind of a little bit less bounds and also
It’s just helping me strike it l consistent but it’s definitely worth testing all the different ones out because it’s quite remarkable how much like the ball flight and the strike changes just depending on like how you deliver the club and how that matches up with the so so definitely loads of
Different options to go out and test there but f is like a really good option for something that you want kind of a stock Shot full shot you’re not really going to kind of open the face and manipulate around the green okay 54 this
Is where we kind of move up in the Loft and the text starts to change a little bit so in terms of that CG what I talked about before it’s going to be a little bit higher this is trying to get the ball to launch a little bit lower and
Just spin more now there’s a few things we’ve also gotten here to help with like partial shots so you can see we not that far from the green here I’m not going to do a full swing we’ve got kind of micro etchings on the club face of that also
Going to kind of increase that spin and the grooves change here so they’re shallower and wider which is also hopefully going to help me Spin and get more control on this shot now in this one I’ve changed my grind and my balance I’ve actually gone up interestingly just
Because it seemed to help my strike a little bit more and we’ve gone to the S which is just a a little bit smaller than the F so it’s just going to give me a little bit more ability to open the face up a little bit if I want to
Probably not like full Flop Shop style but that’s probably not why I would play with this Club but if I want to kind of open the face a little bit in a bunker or on an approach I’m going to be able to do that just a little bit more
Versatile unhelpfully pitched just on the back of a tow slope so despite the spin it’s maybe not the easiest to control I actually do feel that’s coming out in a slightly like lower launch window than the previous model which is obviously what they’re trying to do with that
CG another quite interesting thing is some of the feedback from tour players was that sometimes you can Al almost get a shot that like draws a little bit too much and that’s not something they want to see in the wedges they really want to be able to control the ball they don’t
Anything like moving left away from the pin so they’ve moved the CG um away from the heel a little bit and tried to just make this a little bit more neutral so it’s very straight down the target line I hate that little pit shot where it
Gets pulley left as well so that can only be G to things so good having fresh grooves I feel like every time I get new wedges I’m like I should change my wedges more but you always forget don’t you it’s just like the spin is so much better and actually interesting from titler
Research they’re saying you can probably get about 75 rounds out of wedges a bit dependent on how much you practice I think AMS definitely don’t replace them enough if you practice in bunkers a lot specifically that can wear your wedges out but quite interestingly compared to
Like other wedges on the market they do a lot of heat treatment on these in the manufacturing process and that’s just going to extend that lifespan and make them last a little bit longer than some other models okay 58 this is the club that I use the most around the greens I
Manipulate the face the most but I also pitch this I’m asking to do quite a lot now what I’m interested to see is like what the launch is like with that given like the CG changes how low does this come out the worst thing is when you get that
Kind of like high flirty pitch with this kind of club that just goes nowhere on the Wind got this in 8 bounce with an M Grind really hoping I can actually get to this pin it’s only 70 yards but it’s so cold go oh just that was not a cent face strike let’s
[Laughter] just the consistency of that is nice it feels pretty controlled too like even though there’s quite a lot of wind here like that held it slime really well and I didn’t feel like it spun up at all which is definitely something I prefer like
You just need to be able to control the Shows F That not I mean the first two that St qu you could literally throw a towel over it’s not really B his fault if I F that shot I can’t really blame in for that one let’s get some chip shots just nice little open face chip shots usually the
Nemesis of most golfers I actually quite enjoy this but I always feel like it’s like a good shot to test wedges out with cuz like can you hit it with it can you open the face up like what can you do so I’ve moved to the amran I was in the tea
Before so it’ be interesting to see like how much difference it feels like there is on the shot I moved out the tea just because it’s like literally four bounds you’re not on a really firm course it’s not very forgiven so I just feel like I need
Something that kind of helped me out more consistently oh thought slam dunked it for a minute pretty good little aggressive on the speed now I do really love this m Grand and I feel like you can do a lot with it like it’s pretty easy to shut the face
Down trap it down hit it low if you want open it up hit High shots but obviously here I’m on like fairly forgiving Turf like there is a bit of grass underneath me it’s not like I have to nip it off the top and I would say if you’re
Someone who is on really firm ground say you play links c a lot and you’re someone who really likes to open the face but hit flop shots and you have to kind of hit those shots in certain places maybe get over bunkers on greens if you’re short sided there is like kind
Of a little bit too much balance in the so so I would kind of ear towards the tea grind if you’re that kind of person who wants to hit those shots I do sometimes wonder if maybe there could be a middle ground between the two cuz
There is quite a big jump It’s the only place where you jump four in terms of bounce so most other options go like 8 10 12 14 whereas from this to the te you are jumping 4 degrees of bound so you are losing quite a lot of forgiveness I
Wonder if you could have more of like that t- shaping maybe like a six or an eight bounds as like a middle ground for maybe someone who’s not a top player like me but players on those FM and causes likes to open the face up I want
Something you can really nip off all types of Lies CU I think if you do get to really firm Turf this might not always be the best for that shot but in general if you’re someone who plays like gem Parkland golf or American courses You’ got a little bit more grass under
The ball this is going to work really well in pretty much all scenarios that’s pretty nice right we don’t have green side bunk here but we do have we Suns so I’ve gone and picked myself a ridiculously hard bunka shot where I’ve got about 35 yards to the pin
Over a hill over a dip to a front short side of pin not really sure why I’ve done that actually this is kind of a place where this grind comes into its own so the medium eight is actually going to be a lot more forgiving out of the sand here and
Hopefully get me on the green anyway I can have a practice swing cuz it’s a wasteland so that’s quite nice B to the wind oh was so close to being perfect oh I nipped that so nicely as well great our bunkers I thought I’d hold that one
That’s all right bit more speed Less open face it’s l identical shot that doesn’t prove consistency of wedge I don’t know what it does they are literally touching a so cute oh no over compensated can’t watch that spun back still don’t leave yourself 40 yard bunker shop basically don’t matter
What wedge you using that hard oh I hit those so good now if you’re in the market for new wedges I think the big key is thinking about what you need them for and what you use them for there’s no point you paying a tea grind if all you do is hit
CH runs like get yourself one the fil something that’s a little bit more forgiving for that shot and also because there are so many grind offerings just try them and see what the differences are in kind of launch which ones you strike better and make sure you getting
The right ones and it might not be in the case that you have the same thing in each wedge because I have a different gr on every Loft that I’ve got here and actually you want your wedges to be able to do different things I’m not going to
Do the same thing with my 50 as I’m going to do with my 58 so it’s really important to kind of think about that and be mindful and also work on good gapping because there’s no point if your longest wedge gets nowhere near your pitching wedge that’s not going to be
Effective in terms of pitching out on the car overall I say I’ve really enjoyed testing these wedges I do like the changes they’ve made in terms of kind of the profiling the launch conditions and as you’ve pretty much seen throughout this whole testing they’ve been super consistent which is
What you want from a wedge the spin loads the launch is great you can’t really ask for much more than that thought I’d box that

Always nice videos Hannah…!
love the look of the new nickel ones – think ill be going for them – and similar to you dont know whether to go for the m or t
did you find the t on parkland courses just impossible?
Maybe you need to pick some warmer venues…
HI Hannah, great video, love the advice, Thank you. how do you think these compare to the Taylormade MG4 wedges?
These look fantastic, especially the nickel version.
Wedges are a funny one for me. New driver out, I buy it. New irons, want them! But find good wedges and don't want to change. I'll stick with the SM9's for now, but great, in depth review and test as always.
SM10´s will not perform better than SM9´s or SM8´s etc. Scores depends on technique and training.
New finish is great. Looks more like a Wilson forged wedge ?
Go buy the sm9 they are forty dollars cheaper and probably perform the same. While supplies last 😂
Always a classy and informative presentation, hope to see a comparison against mg4’s and jaws’!
From South Carolina to Florida, Hannah's getting quite the tour of the South. To bad the weather isnt cooperating.
Its been cold here in Orlando not a typical winter sorry Hannah blame it on Global Warming lol
that laugh kills me everytime
Don’t see any real difference going back to the 8’s.
Just bought the SM9 for 2024 as they are on sale since the SM10 is coming. I have Ping i525 and they came with a 50 degree so I bought SM9 54 10S, and a 58 12D. They worked really nice.
every 75 rounds ? whoops I played 150+ rounds last year can't afford to change wedges every year lol or irons cheers
