So a comparison between the new Muno Pro 24 series and the 22 series there is more Tech in these but do they still feel like a Muno with the launch of the new Muno Pro 24 series ons we thought we’d do a comparison for you between the 24 series

And the 20 22 Series in all three models just to give you a comparison on what you like to see from a feel and experience hitting them versus a bit of data you know and what not not really the tech involved but actually what changes in performance you like to see

From each Series so going to start with the 221 and the two4 one uh the pure blades actually I’ll show visually there is one sort of key aspect we’ve got a little bit of tape on to match the swing weights on these but what we can see

Between the 221 and the 241 is that the the 241 the the mass sits a little bit more centrally it’s a little bit more spread across the back on the 221 Series where it’s more focused in the center and that’s one of the aspects of trying

To make them feel as solid as possible um you know both really classic shaped heads and if you go back over various series of head you the 2 two On’s very similar to the mp37 uh mp33 mp37 series um and then the two4 On’s much more like

An MP5 in terms of shaping with that centralized muscle so slightly NE to shape on the two four ones as well but actually in terms of hitting you what do they feel like and how do they perform so we’ve got match shafts in all of

These match Speck as much as we as much as we can so you with the blade you haven’t got any Tech so to speak involved there’s no kind of multimaterial structure yes there are the layers of the steel and nickel and copper and and chrome that are involved in in getting

The uh resilience the longevity to the Finish but no other Tech involved whatsoever so it’s always going to feel a fairly solid head and there’s not going to be anything remarkable in terms of launches and Spins out of these apart from we’ll see these spin a little bit more than the

Other models so that’s a 221 it’s got a nice softness of sound off the head you know that’s something that classic nothing feels like a Muno phrase that really really does apply to the 221 series so you 24 one slightly more Satin finish than the Chrome on the 22 ones um

And a little little bit of a neater shape on the head so slightly cleaner head shape what do we get to hit with so it certainly is a slightly different sound there’s a little bit more that was a very nicely hit shot there’s a little bit of a firmer note

Off the head um it’s not a click but it’s a a slightly harder sound off the face you I think you of any one piece construction like both of these are nothing’s ever going to feel hot but that’s it’s certainly fair to say is a slightly more solid feeling head U you

If we compare you know on those two datawise between them um you know we’re looking at from a the the first one with the m the 221 wasn’t hit quite as well but we can see is launches 0. one of a degree difference spins 100 revs less

Off the uh the 241 that’s as much potentially my tolerance as anything else um but other than a couple of slightly stronger strikes out of the 241 hence the slightly longer shot actually from a data point of view no difference in ball flight whatsoever so you know

Yes the muscle you the weight’s behind the contact point and that creates a really solid feel but Bally overall that that is the only change um so you know they haven’t added different materials things to that to try and make a tangible difference in performance so we then split to the 223

And the 243 so in slight difference very slight difference in the construction here again that centralized muscle on the 243 versus a slightly shallower spread across with the 223 um and because they’ve now got that that pel cut in a little bit more behind the face slightly thinner face on the two4 series

Slightly different material that sits in the back there just to cover off the uh the channel between the face and the back and the back muscle um so you know actually slightly very like the mp25 from years back the visuals on the 243 um we can see the slightly different

Shaping actually as well if you take a slightly higher toe and neater into the uh into the crutch end and a slightly kind of longer shallow ahead on the 223 here so that’s something that you’re shaping wise particularly in the shorter runs they gone a little bit neater on

The 243 um you know similar similar kind of Top Line they Buel the top Edge as well so but again hitting wise how do they differ and we we’ve matched all of these match the shafts match the Lofts match the lies so it really is see my slight variable striking with them but

Really just the heads themselves that are making the difference so so the moment we go to that multimaterial construction is a little bit more of a pop sound off the face um but one of the things that certainly we found fitting with the 223 over the last

Couple of years that it did keep a slightly softer sound than some of the other models with this kind of construction a slightly more muted note so El there is a little bit of a snap off the face uh I’ll do one more just to get a contact it’s not a

Clickiness it’s not a hard note which is where this really did stand out it’s a bit of a more solid hit so you a little bit lower spin than the blade you slightly stronger Loft two degre stronger Loft um but not a low spin head again what we found with the

Two two three was it it didn’t pop launch angle up but retained a little bit of spin so gave a bit of a differentiation in performance versus Titus t150 so so this is we into the 24 three um this is where the actual material of the

Head going to the chromalloy is a little bit more of a differentiating factor slightly harder material so again still very clean very neat head shape and this is where the the pitch of the note does kick up a little bit um you certainly it’s a very very stable

Head uh I think the that feeling of consistency of across the face is very good does feel a little bit faster off the face but again part of that is the pitch of the note goes up a little bit a slightly firmer sound off the face you very well balanced head to

Strike with um but you that short shows I think the comparison when we go into these so I’m just going to with the 2 two series of couple of Fairly ropey strikes um but if we compare these you know ball speed Club speed was up slightly with the 24 series a little bit

More ball speed efficiency so slightly more smash with the two4 series um but spin rate down 250 revolutions so a little bit hotter from a ballf flight point of view um a little bit more distance but coming in with a little bit less Spin and certainly not more launch

Angle on those batch of hits as well so definitely producing for the same Loft a little bit of a stronger ball flight so they have certainly gained I me the the three miles 2 and a half miles hour ball speed difference on some of those hits that’ll exaggerate that distance Gap a

Little bit further than just the flight but if the flight alone you’re going to pick up a few yards from the two 43s but by adding in the Chromo into the head the uh the balancing factor is that slightly harder sound off the face so there’s certainly a change in

Note so we then move into the hollow boded heads so we now have are the 245 and the 225 so you these two see from the toe and on a little bit thicker in terms of head construction simply because they are hollow body you’ve got to bond the face and the back plates

Together um may may or may not be overly visible there’s a little bit of little bit of a more rounded Leading Edge on the 24 five which is this one um and a slightly more graduated profile 245 does slope off a little bit on the back side

Um but it’s a little bit less um definite than the 245 again Turf interaction uh slightly less of a difference on that weight placement if I go back to this view here on the on this model simply because of the type of construction so where they both got that

Tungsten in the back of the head there’s 50% more than the 245 so we’ll go into the hitting part of it so again certainly relative to the construction of this head you the hollow body you would you would often get a little bit of a harder clicker note off

Of it which it it doesn’t really have take slightly bit of struck on that one you get a little bit of clickiness one of a better phrase um but not a harshness to it and and you know certainly this head where it’s been very good it’s retained a little bit more

Spin than other hollow body construction models um as well which does have a benefit well for some players does does have a benefit for others the lower spin might be a good thing but a lot of the hollow body construction heads have quite a low spin rate so that was quite

A differentiating factor of the 245 225 series moving on to the 245 now slightly neater head shape actually behind the ball noticeably again like the 243 to the 223 noticeably harder sound off the face I there’s unquestionably that feeling of speed off the face with this um definitely a

Little bit more heat off the club head whereas the two two5 felt a little bit more control this definitely feels a little bit hotter yeah a little bit of a higher pitch note a little bit more you a quite a different sound again going into the

Shot data here so and again I’m I don’t be kind of too forgiving the 225 I did hit a slightly funky one of the first one however you know we are seeing again um as per the uh the two 43 223 series we are still seeing that 300 rows lower

Spin same launch give take a point2 of a degree um on this one um but you know spin on the 24 Five series being down those three 300 revs there so picking up a little bit of extra ball speed off the head and losing a little bit of Spin and

That’s that weight positioning that extra tungsten in the sole just pulls that spin down so really you what we’re seeing between the models is um you know the blades are essentially very very very similar in terms of performance but the 24 one with that mass right behind

The contact point a little bit more thickness to the blade there does have a very solid sound and feel to it um really actually very really very solid feeling head um once you go into the 243 245 versus the 223 and 225 that change in material slightly different sound

Definitely going to be a sight of harder sound um which I think on the one hand you’d say it’s a bit of a shame because that is what Muno has always been renowned for and it’s what the tagline goes on uh and there are going to be

Some people that are going to like that sound and there going to be some who aren’t going to like it quite as much but it is that give and take of you change the structure to get a little bit more ball speed add a little bit of tech

Add a little bit more tungsten change the channel on the on the back of the face on the 2 43 you know change the the actual kind of thick thin element of the face on the 245 to 225 it’s just an inevitable give and take that you’re

Going to get with that so what you are gaining is a little B more ball speed across the face on the 24 series of the 22 um a slightly firmer note and a little bit less spin so picking up certainly I would say you know on

Evidence of that you three three to five yards I would say um but M certainly gone all out for not building combo sets with these they’ve built that progression in head from the 24 in the 245 they’ve built that into each of those models so they’re not really

Designed to split up uh and that’s something that we’ll we’ll do another video on a little bit later down the line um but comparison wise definitely a little bit of progression from a distance point of view potentially a little bit of loss of feel but overall performance-wise a very solid head

  1. Purchased the 245’s. Looking forward to this. In summary same forgiveness, same design slightly smaller head design but better spin. I’ll take that.

  2. Your reviews are refreshing in that you present the facts, and the presented data differences between ranges and models and leave the subjective factors such as looks, sound etc to the final user to determine.

  3. Not a question relating to the latest Mizuno iron range. I did enjoy the video though but I have a general equipment question. By happen chance, I found the Paradym TD & Diamana BF 60 S to work really well for a fade off the tee but I draw everything else so I’m left wondering if theres any equipment tendencies that lend themselves better to a draw off the tee ?

  4. Having tried all these of these out, I’d have to say the copper underlay helps with the feel on the 243 and the 245s.

Sure they aren’t as buttery as the 241s but I think that they have done an amazing job.
Theres definitely incremental gains and more forgiveness with the 24 series in the 243 and 245 relative to their predecessors . The added tungsten in the 245s had made them a very formidable iron with stunning blade-like looks.

    Nice overview. 👍

  5. Thanks for your detailed reviews and honesty when it comes to "feel" (i.e., sound), even when it comes to Mizuno. I enjoyed the 243s when I hit them this past weekend. I found the new Blueprint S to feel a bit firm as well, comparable to the T150s from Titleist, but maybe it was just my strikes that day. I did hit the 243s, BPS, and my own i230s back to back and the Mizunos seemed lower pitched than the BPS to me (and I'm a huge PING fan). I think I may just stick with my i230s, and I'm not sure I would change to another iron this year. I will return to try the 243s again just for curiosity's sake.

  6. Such a simple review, yet so informative. Simon,I very much appreciate your straightforward reviews. Recently discovered your channel and love it. Thx.

  7. It's important to point out only the 6 iron was hit in this comparison. In that regard & specifically comparing 223 to 243, both are chromoly but the 243 is 4120 which allowed the face to be thinned 0.2mm thereby increasing COR & ball speed as shown. What was missing in the review was that the 8 through PW are still 1025 carbon forged steel. Perhaps this could have been included to give more balance across the set rather than just the longer irons.
