He and he and he has played that way pretty much since he got here you know he doesn’t play like a freshman he has an uncanny ability to make a mistake and come right back nothing lingers on him he just keeps with that sort of attack mindset and that permeates with the rest
Of the team overall as we get ready for the final non-com conference contest of the Season uh what do you like the most what are the main positives from your team here going into this game tonight well I think our young guys have performed well our veteran guys I think
We doing a good job of leading uh we have a lot of guys contributing and you know it’s not like we have to rely on one or two people every time we take the floor and as you know in a long season especially when it’s competitive as the Big 10 you’re

Length but they have a lot of Factor guys they got a lot of other players that can come off the bench and score uh they have some size that you know they have veteran guys uh it’s a team that you know when you watch them play and beat the Paul and how they
Played in the first half against uh Northwestern and what they did on the road going on a 272 run at Mammoth and uh it’s a team that uh we got to be ready for and what are some of those keys that you have to be ready for you
Think that really stand out to you well we’ve got a rebound you know they got a lot of running rebounders we have to stop their transition game they’re going to run like we do and then we have to take care of the basketball and move the

Defense wasn’t horrible but like you said we weren’t weren’t getting to the three-point Shooters and they they got off to a hot start early and then that was kind of our message I haveon we kind of had to nip that in the butt right away and that’s what we that’s what we
Did to start the second half and that’s how we uh got some separation offensively at halftime what was the talk the coaches like most part what you’re doing offensively yeah I mean we I think we were fine offensively we were moving the ball we were Shing the ball
But what really helps us is when we get stops cuz then we can run out in transition so I think that’s how that’s why you seen our offense take another step in the second half so the offense was was good in the first half but it
Could have been a lot better and that we did see that happen get them in transition and just wore them down they had the guys bending over attired there in that first half and you continued that just able to uh push the pace and really wore them down that was a point
Of emphasis I would guess going in that second half as well as you saw what you could do if you’re able to to play your style no definitely I I think a lot of teams in the country can’t run with us that’s kind of our identity getting out
In transition even though we have a lot of Shooters we like to get stops and run outs and I think when we capitalize on that is it’s hard to keep up with us indeed and you yourself personally seven half uh seven points in that first half

Against the Paul one by 10 going on a 27 to2 run on the road you know at Mammoth very very explosive team but uh it’s really hard to win if you’re making giving them 8 threes in the first half now KO their point guard he had 83s
Himself against the Paul when they won he had 34 so this is a talent offensive team and we had to get it figured out on the ball screen action on the cuts and uh you know so they come around in the second half and shoot
29% so what does that do it enables us to get our break going and get easy baskets so that’s how the lead expanded you’re getting stops they’re shooting 29% instead of 67% and we’re getting layups and easy shots and getting to the free throw line out of transition coach
As a final tuneup before the Big 10 uh kick Starts Here Again on Tuesday um this this was a good test for you guys to get up and down the court and I thought everybody into the game the depth really wore down Northern Illinois well you know what Bobby we had we had
Six guys in doubles and one guy with nine and one guy with eight so we really could have had eight guys in double figures we got a lot of Weights we can hurt you with different people it’s great to see price Sanford come off the bench in the first half one we needed
Buckets had a couple big threes and then he did the same thing in the second half he played great I was happy for him uh but again you know deante Josh dicks Brock Harding uh you know logi struggled in the first half was better in the second
Half and then Freeman was terrific so you know your veteran guys Tony Patrick pton that kind of did what we figured they would and Ben cricky got you going in the first half with with his jump shooting uh I thought you know he got down 0 but then Ben crookie with the
Three got you going that just his veteran leadership kind of set the tone well you know the guy gets 20 and you barely even realize it you know he’s a leading scorer I mean the guy is he’s really a tremendous player he plays really hard he locks into the game plan
He doesn’t ever seem to get tired he just keeps working and he scores in a variety of ways he’s giving the ball up uh to guys that are open and he’s just a great teammate and Coach once again uh 23 assists on what 42 made baskets for the Hawkeyes but just seven turnovers
And three of those came late to really did a nice job of taking care of the basketball once again yeah and then conversely we had 15 Steals and they had 21 turnovers so that helps you survive and obviously in the first half at the end of the half we had a lead despite
Giving up a high percentage so uh we did Force some turnovers and we felt like we could do that tonight and Coach with the non-conference schedule over now um did you get accomplished what you wanted to get accomplished it was a tough it was a tough schedule you know with the two
