Don shows us the Proper Inside Left Hand Positioning at Address to have the Club Shaft in the Perfect Shaft Angle at Impact!

Hi I’m Don Sheen with catty Shack golfin teaching Center here in this beautiful winter day in Jacksonville Florida today I’m going to talk about the hand positioning as we address the ball so we hit good golf shots now quite often I see people what I call they’re

Dead before they swing it in other words I have an iron here they’re set up to the ball and they have their hands way behind it or they’re pushing them way forward what’s the proper hand position I’m going to make it real simple for you think inside left thigh so when I

Address the ball I have the ball iron here and the ball’s more or less centered in The Stance I’m going to put my hand position in the handle right off the inside left ey here as you can see I now have shaftline shling is good with

An iron we want to have it because that’s the position you want to be at impact the handle’s a little bit ahead head of the club of the club head add impact with an iron now I have a wood here and once again I’m going to make it

Simple where should our hands be positioned inside left thigh with the wood I’m playing the ball farther forward in my stance more or less inside left heel in that range but that handle is still lined up with the inside left eye as you can see now my handle and my

Hands are more or less even with the ball so we want to get the hand position in the correct position to strike it solidly and that correct position is inside left thigh so we’re going to hit a couple shots here first with the iron I’m going to get a dress to the

Ball arms hanging naturally shoulders over the toes aiming down the middle and I’m going to make sure that handle is pushed forward the handles will head of the club head off my inside left thigh and I’m going to make a golf swing from there to hit solid shots once again

They’re shling at impact with the iron now with the wood everything evens up the handle the club added impact so I’m going to position it once again inside left eye but the ball position goes forward and I’m here with the wood get myself aimed down the middle

And what I’m going to do is keep the handle off the inside left eye and make my goall swing from that position so if you get that handle whether we have an iron with the ball in the center or wood with the ball forward get that handle positioned off the left

Inside left thigh if you get your hands in that position you’re going to ball strike it more solidly practice that and you’ll be a better aler

  1. Excellent job Don in explaining the proper hand position for the irons and driver! Inside the left thigh is the position I play both of these clubs from. Thank you for validating what I have been doing! I was so impressed with your presentation (brief but informative) that I have subscribed to your channel. Well Done Don!!

  2. Do you establish your grip when the handle is at inside thigh or before? Or does that not matter?
