All right let’s talk about Justin fields and the Chicago Bears here it was a a unique game here I mean another one of those the Bears kind of finding a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of Victory it felt like uh but for Fields I think

He’s a very unique player so the box score stats were terrible they were I you know you look at the numbers and you’re like oh my God he must be the worst quarterback in football again definitely some context has to be uh said with this so for one thing both

Interceptions were on hail Mar ATT which is just kind of funny he was also well under 5 yards per attempt and but we’ll get into that a little bit as well let’s talk about you know why they weren’t able to move the ball though cuz at the

End of the day you know well yes there are reasons and the box score makes it look a lot worse this te team did not score a lot they scored 10 points in this game there was also a pick six so it was it was 10 points and if we’re

Being honest even that is pretty misleading cuz you know uh seven of those 10 points the offense scored they are you know started off uh the drive at the goal l line so it was you know if you take those out it was really just three points in the entire game so

That’s obviously not ideal but okay let’s talk about it starting off of this play it’s uh third down and five and this is just what I mean you kind of have to hit on at the NFL level you have a one-on-one match up on the outside uh

You know uh single safety deep here’s your opportunity Fields is going to take this snap there is quick pressure due to uh pretty heavy blitz so he has to you know throw it up uh does what he can but you look at this there’s just not a WI

Right here I mean maybe you could try to throw it over a new some the uh Defender like you can try that but not getting a lot of Separation so you’re already in a tough situation but still probably the throw you should make here if your Fields as you see fields’ throw would

Have liked that to be a hair lower but again it’s like man you really have to put that one right on the money for it to be complete cuz you know there was really not a big window whatsoever and he was under pressure when it was

Happening so this is just kind of the issue with the Bears in the entire Fields era right they’re not getting open consistently and when they are getting you know a small window Fields can’t hit the small window so it that’s just the the difficulty right now again

I don’t know how many quarterbacks do hit those with consistency but on this one Fields unable to do so and grantom this play is like you know this is completely changes the course of how we view how Fields played cuz Okay the way this is designed to work going to be a

Design roll out for fields to go towards the bottom of the screen on this one Robert T the former Packers tight end he’s going to be running a deep route I don’t know maybe he’s a sleeper agent we’ll see but let’s see what happens on this play watch as Fields is going to

Take the snap he rolls out towards the bottom of the screen well blocked by the uh bears but eventually pressure comes so Fields is throwing it a little bit under pressure but you see tanyan got wide open the defender trying to cover him you know got fooled by this fake to

The point where you have a wide openen player and who knows maybe there’s a 70 yard touchdown possibility here however you’re going to see a beautiful throw dropped by tanion you know happens to everybody who hasn’t dropped the football in their lives but definitely a

Tough one to drop and a huge point in that game I mean if they get you know even if they don’t get a touchdown getting in field goal range there and just again for for the stats of it all right fields’s numbers would have looked a lot better uh if there was that

Completion uh that being said there still were just some tough plays for the Bears something like this where it’s going to be a third down and four situation okay important situation once again Browns are going to play Man coverage which makes sense right uh let’s see if we can take advant you know

As long as we can take away DJ Moore we should be okay and you see Darnell money’s route Darnell Mooney going to be a key guy to talk about obviously we know the hail Mar thing but uh you know on this play okay this is a route that

Can work against uh you know disc coverage let’s see what happens Justin Fields is going to take the snap he’s going to look up and look towards Mooney and as of right now I don’t know feels like Mooney could get open right running over the middle definitely there is a

Window here here the issue fields and Mooney are not on the same page I I showed you the rout that Mooney is running but Fields throws it as if Mooney was supposed to stop and that probably should have been an interception and that could have been really dangerous that could have been a

Pick six potentially uh given how you know if things broke down horribly for Chicago really they got away with one there so those are mistakes that they just can’t happen they just can’t now going over here you know again people like to make the jokes of like oh Justin

Fields he’s a running back or whatever but like I don’t know there still was a lot of value a rushing quarterback like I think the you know the counterargument to the Justin Fields some of the tough stats that you see are well yeah but he’s not a traditional quarterback he

Does other things that a lot of quarterbacks can’t do this situation it’s a fourth down and two usually you’re either in a situation where you have to give the ball to your running back or you know have your quarterback throw for it Fields gives you another option you see he’s the only player

Lined up in the backfield there’s no halfback so for Cleveland they believe that a passing play could be coming right here instead you see that fields and you know there’s a spy on this play 44 for Cleveland you know it which is smart right you’re not just going to

Leave Fields sort of by himself in a third down and short because you know what he can do but with this designed run you know at this point pause it right here Fields can easily get to the corner and have you know a chance to make something happen and also watch the

Acceleration of fields to pick up a ton of yards like there still is a ton of value in that again can you win football games having a quarterback that can only do that no although I don’t think he can only do that I think there is other

Aspects to his game but certainly that is what he is at his best and that should be mentioned in pretty much every single Justin Fields talk is like he still is a really good runner and that can still create capable quarterback play but there’s also situations like

This where what’s going to happen is it’s again simil similar situation to what we’ve talked about one-on-one matchup you see the route on the screen it it can work this can get op so okay cool let’s see what happens right off the bat Fields is going to you know take

The snap he does get hit as he’s thrown but I would mention you can throw the football earlier like that’s a situation where if you want to get rid of the football earlier you can get rid of the football earlier you can get rid of

Football a second you get it if you want to in a concept like this on a route like this so Fields chooses not to chooses to wait and you know there is a a window I know it’s very blurry where I paused it right here this is just the

Best still frame I had but you can see that there you know there’s a window I’m not saying this is a wide open window but this is actually a scenario where like this is what you’re hoping for especially against a good defense right cuz that I haven’t mentioned yet but

Obviously goes without saying the Browns have a very good defense and can do this to you so that’s part of the part of the issue with uh you know fields and all this and for the bears but you see that the uh you know the pressure affected to

Throw Fields not able to get it uh you know down there and to me this is a you know I do put this on fields a little bit I think that he should have gotten rid of the football earlier so it’s one of those things where it’s like this it

Wasn’t fields’s fault it wasn’t this game was not fields’s fault at all I mean you know there was those Dro passes the interceptions were not terrible at the same time though you have to be able to find a way to score more than three points in a football game and and I

Don’t know if that’s fields’s fault uh but I also think that you know again if you had the first overall pick and you like one of those quarterbacks you probably got to take that quarterback although I do think there is value in fields and I think a team would trade

You some draft capital for him if you let him you know go so it’s tough I mean the real thing I think when I watch these games like man why couldn’t you get anything for Fields why why do we have so many of these games where we’re

Just like yeah Fields didn’t make one of the two throws he could have potentially made in this game cuz all the other ones he had no shot at like why could why why do we have to view it that way why can’t can’t we just be like okay this is

Fields in a good situation and he’s looked good or bad you know that’s what you want to see you want to see a healthy dose of good situation bad situation okay situation instead it’s 90% bad situation 10% like okay situation it feels like they’ve had a couple good situation moments but as a

Whole it just rating trying to evaluate him but uh yeah those are kind of my thoughts on fields what do you think let me know in the comments below always love hearing from Y and of course as always thanks for watching

  1. It hurts but the Bears gotta draft a new QB.
And they need to let Darnell Mooney walk. Like jesus.
Justin will find something elsewhere, and I hope for the best, but the Bears have to make the change.

  2. The Fields situation in Chicago reminds me of the quarterback situation with both teams in New York. They need to draft his replacement at Soldier Field.

  3. Justin’s problem is twofold, he struggles to see the field at times, and his mechanics are brutal which impact his accuracy. But he’s a superlative athlete and uses that ability to overcome a lot of his deficiencies as a pure passer. That said, his issues at QB are compounded by questionable playcalling at best. And some of the worst line play I’ve ever seen, and I’m a Jets fan. It’s a chicken or egg thing for me, is Justin’s vision lacking because he’s just not seeing the field or is he play anxious because of the OLine. However, while there are several plays on tape this week where you question what the coaches want him to do w/ the ball. In addition, he put a number of terrific plays on tape. He leaves a lot out there every week because of poor mechanics. Regardless, this type of offense cannot stand at an NFL level. Something will change in the off-season, for sure. Unless JF can improve mechanically, he’s kind of plateaued as a passer. He’s a work in progress, with a high upside. While mechanics can be fixed, vision is something that can’t be taught imo. It’ll be interesting to see the next chapter in his career, rooting for him.

  4. Fields has all the prodigious physical talent, but he fails at all the little things. Two examples are his extremely slow dropbacks, which mess up his timing, and his lazy fakes, which don't fool defenses and affect the effectiveness of the running backs game. He's a playground quarterback who feels like he doesn't need to study or do any homework.

  5. A team will give up 3 1st rd picks and MORE for Caleb.
The bears need to take it, build their team, and if Fields still sucks, draft a replacement before his rookie deal ends.

  6. I don't understand how certain people try to blame Justin fields… Should he throw the ball and catch too?… How about some of these play designs that have no scheme to make the defense have to make a decision to expose themselves regularly?…How about the line not protecting and getting beat like they were 3rd grade little girls?… They heap a bunch of praise on the defense… Which I also think played good… But how about how the defense isn't protecting Leads when it matters?… What about the defense giving up a third and 17 at crunch time?… I've watched a bunch of film studies of these games and it's OBVIOUS that Justin Fields is NOT the problem…

  7. Forget just this one game, he averages 200 yards a game. Look at the entire body of work. He doesn't make it happen on game winning drives, one of the worst (if not the worst) in the league at that. You could say he holds onto the ball too long, but that's always been his problem, so he hasn't improved. Some of it IS Getsy's fault, but a lot of the times, it's Fields too. You can't win with this guy. I hope we trade him. Personally I never liked the pick. And I don't like Williams either. If you just look at both of those players, they are always on the move throwing to WIDE OPEN receivers. I don't know if that will translate as well in the NFL. And you're seeing that with Fields here. I want a pocket passing QB. Someone like Brees who can read a defense, make adjustments, and know what's going to happen before the snap. That's what this team has always needed.

This wasn't mentioned, but I feel it's worth mentioning: As far as the players saying what they are saying about him, I think they HAVE to. What if they said they didn't like Fields? How would that go? Of course they will say good things about their starting QB. What do you think that locker room dynamic will look like if they actually said we need a new QB? What if the management/coaches said that? You can't. It's bad leadership and you'd be a bad teammate if you shat on your starting guy. You're supposed to support him. What they say to media literally doesn't matter.

  8. The route concepts are pedestrian and wont challenge any defense regardless of who the QB is. The offensive cordi nator is a novice

  9. Justin is the best QB the bears have ever had. He needs more thab just Moore. There are maybe other qbs that could be as successful with THIS team and OC.

  10. The first interception should be waived because it was a drop, it clearly touched the ground and should not be held against Fields. Stats are kind of a joke tbh.

  11. Commenting for the algorithm ✌ I don't know what to think of him. I would be a fan of trading the #1 pick and getting 5-6 more total picks in return. You can win a SB with a QB not being a top 5 in the league as long as he can string together 5 solid games at the end of the year. Plus, I'm not sure if this staff can bring out what he can do. It's never as easy as people make it out to be.

  12. A lot of criticism for Fields but he's playing a team that has given EVERYOTHER QB PROBLEMS ALL SEASON. You can't just plug and play a rookie qb and expect him to start winning. The Bears are already making a turn and it's because of Fields presence on the field and the locker-room.

  13. 3rd year QB who is now in the 2nd year of 2nd scheme
Remember, the entire league knew was hung out to dry with last year's roster. This year he got a rookie tackle, an underperforming free agent guard, and an ascending receiver via trade and look how much better he's doing. Imagine if he had a complete offensive line and a real #2 Big Receiver like Claypool (with a brain). Imagine if we had an offensive coordinator competent enough to design an offense based on JF1's strengths.
