Today I get a golf lesson from the Hall of Fame Coach Chris Smeal and we talk about mistakes I have as a beginner golfer. He teaches how to get the club square with simple drills, along with a pre shot routine and a post shot routine. With all this, we are looking to lower my scores on the course. Enjoy!

  1. I'll take it! good stuff. I say that all the time. if it goes toward the hole. good for me. lol

  2. LOL, Chris makes such a good point at 2:37: Jerome, try to reward yourself for your progress, brother! I wish I’d made the progress in two years that you’ve made in two months! ❤

  3. 37:20 about sums it up for a coach. U questioned something you didnt even know what u were questioning lol. Brother just swing with less thoughts. It will help

  4. One piece of advise and your coach mentioned it. Golf is not a game of perfect. My wife would drive the ball to one side of the fairway and be like, it’s not in the middle. Really, I would say, it’s on short grass. Good luck just wanted to add.

  5. It is amazing how much your mind set affects your game. I've only been playing for about 2 years now. My first round I ever played was a disaster and around a 130 😐 I've since gotten to the point where 100 is a blah day and if I play good, mid to low 90's is definitely possible. One key I've learned is to forget your last shot no matter how good/bad it was and reset your mind for the upcoming one. Keep grinding Jerome! this series is awesome and it's cool seeing your progress.

  6. You have no bend in your right elbow at impact; you'll never hit it consistently and far like that. EVERY touring pro has this bend at impact. Practice some right-handed-only chips and pitches and seek solid contact (NOT DISTANCE!). The only way to hit it solidly is with the club trailing the elbow through impact.

  7. Straight leading arm and swing 70-80% helped my ball striking consistency so much. And saves your back from over swinging

  8. Great Teaching ! But DUDE YOU R 100% WAY TOO NEGATIVE !!! RELAX AND CHILL OUT YOU ARE PLAYING THE 100% HARDEST GAME IN THE WORLD TO BECOME GREAT AT PERIOD ! ( AND WITH A BALL SITTING STILL UNLIKE THE HARDEST SPORT HITTING A 100MPH FAST FAST BALL !😊

  9. The pro golf on TV is largely highlights. Pros at the cutline are about 6 strokes better than scratch golfers on average.

If you look at the numbers by the pros and the shot dispersion, and probabilities, it can manage your expectations a bit better and show you where you can improve.

  10. the shot at 18:15 was the best one except it was off the toe. If you hit the sweet spot on that one it'd be your best shot. But I haven't watched the rest, I can see the improvement on this lesson.

    22:26 was very good also

  11. Would be interesting if you could somehow quantify what you get out of each lesson and what you are paying. I never have gotten professional lessons myself, but I worked on my swing a lot using a golf simulator last offseason and saw a lot of improvement even though I haven't hit the numbers on consistency and the chipping and putting which I didn't work on aren't up to the level I'm normally at so the overall score hasn't changed a lot even though the driving distance and quality of iron shot when I hit it sweet has improved. I'm not used to my new swing yet or weight of the club yet so consistency isn't there and I have to improve my sweet shot percentage for it to translate, but I have gained distance and adjusted my swing and gained more distance today also. I broke 90 but I tend to measure my golf by my best round ever and I haven't surpassed it yet so I still need to work on it.

  12. Man you’re so hard on yourself! I was the same with when Chris was my coach and I started with him.

His positive mindset changes are a total game changer, in golf and in life! Keep up the great work and content with him!

  13. I want you to go get a therapist. I find you doubt yourself alot. I feel like you’re so good already. But you have no confidence with your skills.

  14. All I will say is let the expectation of perfection and self-criticism go bruh.

You will cause more nervousness and anxiety over something you love doing. Focused practice will bring the game to you I mean shoot, look how far you have evolved. Go back and watch your first video and then this one. The difference is night and day.

WE all know we cannot force greatness when we do not understand what it takes to be great.
This means trying although you may fail, then accepting the outcome and then letting it go.
