if I hit a 150 yard shot then 5% is 7 yards……7 yards is big deal with my 150 yard shot…or if I hit a 240 yard drive then 5% is 12 yards….so I only hit that drive 228…..and that again is a real difference to me as a 64 year old 7 or so handicap…..it will have a big impact on the Amateur as we all don't hit as far as we think……just freeze the ball where it is today then adjust the clubs for the pros so that they don't hit it as far…….
Just not sure why the USGA would want to change anything when golf is more popular than ever.
the only thing it would bring back is the use of a lot more fairway woods by the average golfer
IDGAF what ball rule they pass. I will never use it
The pro has the swing speed to simply use a 2 degree stronger lofted iron. It would be much easier to 'grow the grass', water isn't the issue. If you make rough penal again, like it is in the Majors, it will have a greater effect on the PGA than changing the ball. Tighter fairways and deeper rough is the easier, most cost effective way to go.
We’ll see a lot of blades players switching to cavity backs
😂😂 so we all gotta hit like we’re 80 years old so we go too far with the driver
PGA Tour courses have fairways like parking lots and the balls roll forever. How does a ball fix that?
The ball rule gonna put SNELL and VICE out of business?
or just take tees away
The rollback is great for golf. As Rory said, it won't make a bit a difference to the average golfer. Change the dimples. Piece of cake. I mean the pros today average over 300 yards a drive. Average. When Jack was playing it was probably 270. No big deal to role it back. If I hit the best ball, say a ProV1 versus a much cheaper ball, maybe I get a couple of extra yards. But the pros get a whole lot more. A whole lot more. And they should change the rules on the driver. Today's drivers for the pros are ridiculous. Again for me (a 10 handicap) they make almost no difference. Or just let things stay where they are and let the top pros blast away with 350 yard drives and get lower scores. I don't care actually. It has no impact on my game.
5 to 10 yards? People spend hundreds of dollars on a new driver, shaft combo to get those 5 to 10 yards!
The players should boycott the US OPEN if they try to pass this shit
Yes, they make those balls already, but they are currently the cheaper balls that are more geared to the lower swing speeds like the Bridgestone BRX line of balls. A pro swing speed isnt as good with this ball as a slower speed is
THE USGA BALL "This is the only ball on the market that conforms to the arbitrary rules of golf that we just changed 5 minutes ago"
