James, you hit it on the head. Grip pressure is so critical and hardly ever emphasized. A 3 out of 10 on the "pressure" scale is exactly what is needed but so hard to accomplish.
Okay James! I did it, i pressed the button – and now? Are I'm 30 years younger than now? Is my power and mobility back? I will check it, first with my wife and then tomorrow on the 1st tee…. Thanks for your help in life! 😊
I gained 20 yards by shallowing my swing and hitting more up on the ball, went from like 270-275 carry to around 290-295 carry from simply changing my swing a tiny bit.
great job James! 👏, I really have been struggling with driver this yr, and my issue is "sequencing" and turning my hands over thru the ball. maybe a touch of to much grip pressure as well. I have been implementing what Ledbetter told u/us about the take away, and im smashing my irons this yr!!! thanks for that and keep more of this content coming! you really are a great teacher and I like how you explain it!
Interesting comment on grip pressure. Another youtube golfer says to 'kill the bird', i.e. when you get to the top you're probably going to tighten massively as you have to hold on tight to the club before you throw it out. Also, when I hold loosely (3 out of 10) I find the gear effect is huge – no strength or stability in the clubhead so it flops all over the place.
Tip on 3/10 on grip pressure is a 10/10 tip. Played my best round ever at 72 using this tip for all swings. 69% fairways hit, 65% greens in regulation, and 28 putts (holing one pitch shot for one of 4 birdies). Most shots were straight and the misses were not that bad. Though the grip tip worked, I credit the round to the putting guru Chris Dennis for the 28 putts. Thanks Chris!
After watching this, I went outside and fired up the R10. I loosened my grip as much as I could and still hang on to the club. Imagine my surprise when I saw significant club speed gain with 20yds of carry to show for it. Thank you James.
Really nice show James, but to go back a little further in history it was Sam Snead whole said hold the club like you were holding a bird. I'm sure you're right that Gary Player said hold it like you are holding a Budgy but my guess is he got that from Sam. Also the part where you said " if you are having problems setting your hands, your grip is probably too tight" was a SUPER tip. Great job. One thing for me is that I have no problem with too tight a grip on the back swing but on the down swing my grip seems to naturally tighten some not sure if that is normal or bad.

Cheers from Texas, James!
Morning James! How's the family?

If only it was as simple as the thumbnail suggests

wonderful video James! Realized I'm still choking the club with my grip! Time for change!

That is a good video, light grip os a must.
James your swing is so good when you don’t chase it .

Fantastic tips and advice James
First time over seen slow motion the kind of ‘gear affect’ I get on my club…could that also be because I’m using too light/wrong shaft??
Good good

I pulled a deep abdominal muscle over swinging. Haven’t played since. Two weeks. Rhythm is key.

Has something happened to Sunday Club?
I’ve found this method works so well. Only swing though now is tempo and balance and I hit it a lot more straight and staying in play.
