I have the utmost respect for @iceman_hof and how he helps people becoming more conscious about breathing, health & happiness. The world would be a better place if we had more Wim Hof’s. But. There is a big but. If we go deeper into what deep and fast breathing actually does, there is no way to go around the topic of hyperventilation and the physical (temporary) adaptations that come. with it. There is a reason why the Wim Hof Method is not suitable for diving or any kind of underwater activity, and that is because of the higher chance of blacking out due to hyperventilation. Now that being said, if you use the method in dry land, you should still know what you’re doing and what is happening. Of you’re interested in what hyperventilation does to the body, search for GERT LEROY HYPERVENTILATION on my Youtube channel. Peace βοΈ

And what happens during the breath hold, professor? π why do we breath hold after intense breathing?)))
Youβre supposed to breathe in through your nose so you donβt hyperventilate

This man's soul has been bought by big pharma. A lobby's little quiet bΓtch.
Try doing the breathing with a pulse oximeter on your finger- during the hyperventilation, SpO2 can rise slightly. It can however drop significantly during the apnoea stage, yet there is no tingling at this stage , so I think itβs unlikely that hyperventilation causes physiologically significant hypoxaemia
Theres science through and through on the wim hof method. Check it out. Go deep. This guy is probably selling his own breathing method or something
He is the ice man , what are u , icecream man πππ , if u are able to do what he does without the breathing technique then u can dis his methods ,, anyone can talk bro , stop taling and start doing ,, do a cold plung for 10 mins , show us that his technique is not required fpr this feat
Bro is coping all over the commentsπ
Just why do you like the smell of your own fart this much? Tons of research is supporting Wim.
Hyperventilation, or rapid and deep breathing, can affect the brain in several ways:
1. Reduced Carbon Dioxide (CO2) levels: Hyperventilation leads to the elimination of excess CO2 from the body. Low CO2 levels can cause vasoconstriction (narrowing of blood vessels) in the brain, reducing blood flow and potentially leading to symptoms like dizziness, confusion, and even fainting.
2. Altered pH balance: Rapid breathing can disrupt the balance of pH in the body. This can affect the brain's normal functioning and contribute to symptoms like tingling sensations, muscle spasms, and lightheadedness.
3. Cerebral blood flow changes: Hyperventilation can lead to changes in cerebral blood flow, potentially reducing the brain's oxygen supply. This may result in symptoms such as headache, blurred vision, and cognitive impairment.
4. Increased risk of anxiety or panic attacks: Hyperventilation is often associated with anxiety or panic attacks. In these cases, the brain may perceive a threat and trigger the body's "fight or flight" response, leading to heightened stress and emotional symptoms.
It's important to note that while hyperventilation can have these effects on the brain, it's usually a temporary and reversible condition. If you or someone you know is experiencing prolonged or severe symptoms related to hyperventilation, it's advisable to seek medical attention to rule out underlying medical issues and learn techniques to manage and prevent it.
Itβs just temporary and reversible
You are bullshiting
This was like watching a Reddit commentator spouting off a poorly contextualized wiki article to prove a point
First thing I want to say is "spair me the heart'', if your hearts are cheap enough to give to any person that makes a random comment under your video than they are more worthless than a bladeless knife explaining the importance of the K in its name as it tries to cut open a watermelon.
As for the content, this stuff is far too complex for people like you to understand, I'll make a deal with you though so in 50 years you can at least be right about something. Get a red ink pin and physically write down ''π΄ πππππππππ πππππ ππ ππππ ππ πππ ππ πππ πππππππ ππππππππ ππππππππ ππππππ ππ πππ π³ππ πππππππ'' !!!
And guess what bud it's already starting to happen. There is a 2 hour video that just came out about 2 days ago completely dismantling these nonsense talking points of yours in great detail and reveal that YOU are the one pushing the Bruh Science.
I don't know why you highlight the term hyperventilation so much as if that's even the best description of what Wim Hof breathing is, maybe that's even a definition Wim Hof himself gets wrong. What I do know however is that these are not rapid in and out breaths as you try and let on, they are quite clearly breaths that are deeply in and released slightly less rapidly actually even than normal breathing. Maybe one could argue that I can't decide what the term hyperventilation is, but the door could also swing in the opposite direction, you can't either, and focusing on mere definitions rather than what is physically happening is more than a straw man argument, it's a wizard of oz's hot air balloon argument.
Speaking of which the fact that the body is at 100% oxygen is more of a statement that you're hardly losing any oxygen during the breath hold than it is a statement on being ''more oxygenized than you were previously''.
If you want to see the debunking Scott Carney video than look it up I'm not going to rhino his name on behalf of such a simple debunking.
I am an actor and singer and I can genuinely say that I tell almost every single person about how this breathing method makes me feel grounded and opens up my lungs. I can also hold my breath for 4 minutes nowβ which may come in handy some day.
I kwon this, but not for this I stop to do the apnea technique. It's part of work for train the body
And this is how the scientific way of thinking limits you JUST like how religious thinking also fails you. People will tell a scientist that something can change their life, and the scientist wonβt even think of trying it until the first meta analysis comes in.

Bro what? Have you ever tried it? Nvm dont answer that I already know the answer is no. Millions of peopleβs wellbeing, livelihood, quality of life has skyrocketed bc of it. People are telling you theyβre getting clean of addiction from it and you say placebo and correlation is not causation. I appreciate criticism I do, but itβs pathetic to minimize peopleβs experiences like that.
I think this guy is just trying to say that hyperventilating isnβt always a good thing, HOWEVER win hof has numerous world records and has been seen and tested doing incredible things. I believe thereβs more to the science behind what happens when your body STOPS hyperventilating, when someone does this kind of breathing all the time and so they become used to it. I believe this causes the body to become capable of amazing things.
I guess Yogi's and 6000 yr old pranayama practices are wrong and you are right
Rubbish
ALL YOUR SCIENCE NONSENSE…. BOOKISH YET STUPID
youβre speaking off emotion, your emotion. Which is this is βbadβ itβs helps people so who cares what you think?
"So its not really such a good thing."
I think there is a lot of research to prove this wrong.
Try to climb mont everest in your underwear first.. after complain
We need to die so our consciousness can expand beyond our bodies. People who are on the verge of death experience the feeling of letting go, that drop of weight on the mental aspect of ourselves that simply grounds us and rids us of all the worries. We arenβt meant to live forever in these bodiesβ¦ during sleep or deep meditation, breathing slows down and the same experiences happen.. less oxygen mutes the brain however, the conscious part of you persists and thrives. Itβs not a bad thing, but itβs more of a trade off. Dying is scary but if you dance on the thread weird things happen.
So I guess all of the medical studies that show this to be beneficial are wrong? What is your medical degree?
My man, tell me, if you hyperventilate and put an oxygen meter on your thumbs, the ones that you say are blood vessels restricted because of hyperventilating, how come the readings increase in oxygen ? How come you can also do much more effort after breathwork ? You know how ? Much more oxygen available in your tissues and so on. Common sense and critical thinking these days…oh man. And you are an adult. Next time do your homework.
So what is better breathing technique
I don 't understand anything?
Wim even says that you're causing hyperventilation. Is this guy new to the party?
He has absolutely no clue what he is talking about.
I am able to breathhold 2min with this technique. This enriches your blood with oxygen not the opposite. He should really try it. As Wim says, feeling is believing. Have a nice day,
THANK YOU CAPTAIN OBVIOUS π
Getting smacked around up in here…..π
Maybe you are depriving yourself temporarily of oxygen but science is still trying to understand how he does what he does. Having an opinion without trying to understand won't get you anywhere.
So what?
