  1. I feel like it would be fairly obvious if a YouTube golfer was “cheating.” If their shots and scores were consistently low and impressive (to the point of looking Tour ready) and they never even sniffed a real tournament then I would assume they’re lying for views. There’s no reason to be THAT good and never play competitively. It would be super easy to sniff out.

  2. I rate people who make these claims the same as all the haters who said Matt’s ace on a par 4 was cgi I don’t know how much more proof you can give besides all the camera angles they had. I’ve showed that video to a lot of people and probably 1/3 think it’s fake

  3. Nate, you have a habit of butchering the pronunciation of names. Take a second to listen to the correct way and then replicate it. It shows respect 👍

  4. It would have been better to verify his assertion before making a commentary. That said, you made good points about the content creators generally telling the audience the "YouTube" rules being used on the video. I think he is referring more to the pitches for paid product placements being fake and inauthentic than he is saying most of the scores — which you noted are rarely relevant — are faked.

  5. We all know Riggs from foreplay fakes his scores all the time. Claims he’s a scratch golfer with his awful swing

  6. Sorry brother I don't agree. I'm a hack golfer who has never broken 100. There were a few occasions where I hit 100 on the dot. If I had cheated just 1 shot I would have finally broken 100. But it wouldn't have been real. I don't care if you're a YouTube golfer or not. Play fair

  7. All these people who have seen this “first hand” have never proven youtube golfers fake videos.

Most of these guys are playing while a course is open, its not like they have time to rehit a ton of shots. I do think they might rehit a lot of putts, cause thats easy to do and is what’s entertaining/keeps matches close.

  8. Some YT golfers are real, some are 100% fake, and some are in the middle. Who is who? Just look at what they shoot on their channel vs. what they shoot in real tournaments or big collabs, or if they avoid playing anywhere except their own channel, and you'll have you answer. Another data point — when GG had their $100k YT tournament a lot of smaller channel golfers threatened to play then didn't enter because they would have been exposed.

  9. I think it happens, but they're typically called out in comments and don't last long. Even in entertainment, honesty matters.

  10. It’s not like they’re holing out every video or getting HIO’s all the time . They play like the 10 handicaps most of them are in every video.

  11. This is such a big topic, I see people making fun of it on tiktok all the time. Nate is gonna go into some investigative journalism here. Love it.

  12. Love Grant, but in Grants video at Bethpage, he hacked it out of the bunker on the Par 5, and the ball took a bounce about 10 yards away and the ball nestled straight to the bottom of the rough. When he hit his next shot the ball was sitting straight up on top of the grass. I scrubbed it back and forth a couple times and the ball definitely buried in the rough. They all do it, heck we all do it.

  13. What you need to do is somehow find some caddy’s that have been with some on the course. Not sure how but if anyone can it’s you brotha

  14. Then, it falls on "editing enhancements or errors. either that or "all" pro's from Tiger to the present play "YouTube" golf by playing aggressively every shot.

  15. I think there’s a big difference in fudging lie or giving/taking short putts or minor relief in YouTube golf versus faking shots or fake scores. Overall this is not a tournament and is simply entertainment.

Also, ZERO shade to Martin Borgmeier, but he doesn’t seem to be the guy who should be doing this comparison. He isn’t a tour player, he’s long drive…So even he isn’t exactly what most would consider apple to apples and it too is for the sake of content, views & sponsorships. I don’t have an issue with any of it…I can separate it from tournament golf. Play on!

  16. Good take Nate. Good Good for example will often tell the viewers that they are taking certain beneficial lies and what rules they are using that benefit them all to play better golf. I don't get the impression that most youtubers are pretending to play 100% full tournament rules. The question is whether they are taking 5 swings and just using the best shot on film. We don't know that. But if they are out on courses, their usually are people playing behind them so they can't just take unlimited shots and then edit to make it look like they are playing real and clean.

  17. No one has to explain anything. YouTube is a source of entertainment, it’s a platform just like Netflix or Max. There are no rules that say this has to be 100% real documented footage. It’s amateur filmmaking. If someone wants to film their break 70 or improvement match, I would hope there is some story some intrigue to it, or else it’s just a boring golf match. Just sit back and relax and watch YouTube golf, or don’t.

  18. Spicy topic. I think for the most part most people are honest but I've definitely seen a few hiccups in bunkers and extra divots magically appear for at least 2 channels. One isn't exactly a great golfer anyway so not sure why wouldn't you try and relate to your viewers that we all hit bad shots. He even acknowledged it in a comment when someone called him out that the ball was moved and didn't even rake the sand lol

In the grand scheme it probably doesn't matter much but the part of the entertainment in the ups and downs of it. This is just my opinion.

  19. Golf sidekick and Zac Radford luke peavy only honest ones. Rest of them lying. Shows their character. I guess getting popular and rich off lies they get to sleep with their lies and cash at night but I'd rather be honest when millions are watching

  20. I've definitely noticed some videos, especially in the sand, where it looks like they are playing from a freshly raked spot..
