Chelsea have signed Cole Palmer from Manchester City. Mauricio Pochettino was hoping to sign a Premier League proven player to help cope with the Christopher Nkunku injury but Palmer is most certainly a surprising one having first tried to sign Michael Olise from Crystal Palace and then Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal.

Let’s be real there’s a reason city sold such a young English footballer to a rival…
Is not good news, a player who just join the senior team of mancity just this season and you throw such an amount of money 45million 💷😢
Well it's a good buy. We don't have any naturally gifted goal scorers among our recent buys. He looks like one.
Kid looks like he sleeps under a bridge
This feels very much like selling Lewis Hall to NUFC. He has a high potential, is a good player and adds to the homegrown list but the £35M was pure profit and too good to turn down. MCFC fans are gutted he is leaving which says something. Then again I'd question many of our purchases over the last 2-3 windows and the amount of money we've spent on unproven talent.
It’s not problematic that City have sold Palmer. Not everything City decide and do is a perfect decision 😂 they make mistakes as we all do. This signing is going to come back and bite them on the arse imo. Their loss our gain, that’s life. 💙💙💙
So we ignore Madison saying he's not up to standard and Palmer is.Imma say it now….. Chelsea is going nowhere to be frank.
As a City fan who's followed him since his academy days, this guy has the potential to be incredible and for his sake, I'm glad he's got a chance to go. The way he takes on a defender, his ability with ball progression and distribution, and at times his finishing have shown glimpses of a player with a higher ceiling than Foden. Regular game time and good management are a must-have for his development, but with the current Chelsea squad being so young I think it will be a really healthy environment for his development. He's been unlucky at City, he never got the chances Foden had due to our ridiculous quality on the wings and in the 10 position. You've got a player that if given the minutes will provide you 5-10 goals and 15ish contributions this season, and for a Chelsea team that has really struggled with the end product, he's got the quality to come in and provide some of that from the get-go. You mentioned city's willingness to loan him out/sell him being a negative sign but I think that is a bit of a reaction as it is purely a result of our transfer policy. Pep has always said that if a player wants to leave, and they have a club willing to pay the money, the club would always let it happen for the sake of protecting the squad from being damaged by sagas like what has happened with Leeds. overall he's a great signing with the potential to have an immediate impact and in 3 years time you will be looking back at the price tag and seeing how good of a bargain his fee was. genuinely one of the best pieces of business you have done this window imo.
But you bought lavia too hes from the city academy and never played for the first team at all, so shows lack of game time in first team has no bearing.
Horrible signing, like most of our signings from the last 12 months. We’re paying top money not for top stars but for promising potentials, so not only we aren’t improving short term, we’re either buying players who won’t fulfill their potential, or if they do we’re blocking the way of Academy graduates from getting into the senior squad
Chelsea should just buy PL right away cuz there is no point of buying 200 players when you can just buy the league for 5-6 billion hehehehe
Chelsea and City need different things right now from that position. They will regret not having Palmer when Haaland leaves next summer and scoring goals is no longer automatic
As a city fan you’ll love him and hate him, he’ll try a lot to cut inside and take a shot whenever he can and it becomes a little annoying when there’s a pass on that would be better
As a city fan, palmer is decent but he's nit world class. He peaked very early hence why he's been sold. Look at videos of him and thays all you get.
Cole Palmer is a brilliant player BUT he made the fatal mistake of questioning Pep`s judgement and was not willing to trust that he would get game time, as soon as he said he might have to look elsewhere he was out the door because Pep has always said the same thing about only wanting players 100% committed to the club. Will he make it at Chelsea is the big question because you have a habit of ruining young players, if that is a club thing or down to the bright lights of London is open to question. My own view is he will be there 2-3 years then move on probably abroad and then become a super star (Yes he is that good).
ffs i really wanted Cole to stay at City
Cole Palmer is the 2023 Luke Chadwick!!😂
Nottingham Forrest?? Hahahahaahaha 😂😂
"jeopardy, chime with me, elevate, explore, there is a world" More waffling nonsense from this bullshit artist.
We need to sign more younger and unproven players for 100+mil with 10 year contracts.
Rory bro Cole Palmer only plays RW
Come on Rory let's be avin you
You'll sell him to Saudi for 80m in January. We're not all stupid
Pep doesn't sell players to Liverpool, everyone else is considered not a rival to their success. He only fears Klopp
Palmer is a good signing better than Olise
This is simply just a gamble. He’s played nowhere near enough minutes to be judged properly and that price tag is so high considering that. He has far more chance of being a Ross Barkley than a KDB.
oh. dear.
Chelsea signing cole palmer is as hilarious as plastic man city fans trying to tell people he's better than garnacho😂😂😂
Only change for Palmer is he now sits on a different bench
Another example of Chelsea playing Football Manager. If you have as much money as they do, you leave Jackson and Palmer and you sign Furguson. As with all Chelsea's signings he 'MIGHT' be the next big thing. But he also might be the next Frannie Jeffers.
Chelsea is nowhere as good to be City’s rival🤣ok you have one more champions league, if that makes Chelsea fans feel better
This kid obviously has bags of talent. Not sure Chelsea is the place for him to develop that. Players seem to stagnate there. Somewhere like Brighton or even Villa would have been a much better move for his progression.
I love when Rory bated us to like with the ‘ give it a like I just want to monitor it’ ❤😂
Its a brilliant signing !!! Having listened to Behdad Egbali at Sportico, i understand the transfer strategy of CFC, becoming PL's RB Leipzig/Salzburg!!! He has huge potential and upsides.
With the right development – u can sell him with a surplus to a bigger and better team.
Good signing.
He did virtually retire Azpilicueta
It will drop you further down the table matw
45 million for a player that has never scored a premier league goal
