  1. Had a friend have a bachelor party in Vegas, 1 month later he wanted to have his wedding in Mexico. They blocked off some expensive rooms and didn't want children to come. I'm living in Co, we haven't spoke since I missed his wedding. Edit: a little back story, this wedding had been postponed for 4 years. I had agreed to go the first time he asked, 4 years later I got a 3 year old, living in a different state, don't make as much money, and have a full time schedule.

  2. My wife and I wanted to do a destination wedding BECAUSE very few people would show up. We basically wanted to start our honeymoon before the wedding

  3. Agree with him. Plus people use destination weddings to cut down guest list. If I spent to attend a far flung wedding…..that is my gift.

  4. I’ve lived this way and I will be entering my 40’s soon never having been to one fucking destination wedding thank you

  5. Using up your money, time and vacation holiday for someone else? No. A normal wedding, you are lucky to take my Saturday.

  6. My take on destination weddings is if someone has one and they don’t offer to pay your way then it is their way of saying they really don’t care if you go. It is a huge expense and if they want you to attend they will pay for your travel accommodations. It’s ridiculous to expect one person to pay a couple of grand and fly thousands of miles to see you get married when you live 30 miles away from each other.

  7. Almost as bad as a destination wedding is someone I know had their wedding on new years eve. Just steal the whole holiday for yourself. So self centered!

  8. This is the man who rightly argued that sending a SAVE THE DATE should double as an actual wedding invitation. Not a precursor to a second RSVP.

  9. The Bride should write on the invite No Presents Expected, your Presence is our Present.

  10. I am amazed at how common destination weddings have become. What happened to getting married in the church down the street and having a reception close by at a nice place? In addition to that craziness, bachelor and bachelorette parties are now week long or long weekend destination events as well. It's crazy.

  11. Uncommon Common Sense. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Not going gives back to the person paying for the Wedding. Grateful Nonacceptance card came. Buy a Wedding Gift 🎁☑️👍🏼🇦🇺

  12. The worst is when they make you pay for accommodations, as if you didn't just spend over $1,000 on a plane ticket

  13. Spot on! And who the hell do you think you are to think anybody would want to spend time and money on that😂😂😂 My husband and I told nobody about our wedding, it was just us. A perfect day❤❤❤
