Love it but I hope and pray that baseball don't bring the AI strike zone. Gotta keep the human aka home plate ump. Yea I knoooo sometimes they call bad calls. But that's part of the game. And wat makes the game genuine and brings some unpredictable situations and coaches arguing calls. Etc. Ump is part of the game !!
Brian’s great at creating the counters, and it makes you think about what we really want from the game. Hard hits, or contact/small ball. I favor hard hits because that means more barrels and better efficiency. This will push away the extreme launch angles since barreled ground balls are hits.
The best part about the rule changes is that it allows players like Mauricio dubon bat at a 300 tp exist bc he's all contact and not alot of power and it just makes the sport more fun.
Here's my ultimate problem with the rule changes. The league sought to do two things: 1) shorten games and 2) increase offense. NONE of the rules they implemented included some sort of new way of hitting etc. or reducing commercial breaks…..whatever. Almost every rule change had to do with 1) restricting defensive play (and subsequently) 2) making it easier on the offense. Here's a question to ponder: Are larger bases really making it easier to steal bases at the rate that is happening, or is it incentivizing players to try to steal against catchers who came up in a Moneyball system where stolen bases were seen as a waste of an out?
I'm not a fan of the rule changes at all – the pitch timer is silly, as is the batter timer. I don't like that a team can't shift the players wherever they want either. If you want to cut time then cut the advertisements between innings. Just my 2 cents worth – I don't like the changes. I also think that the umpiring so far this year has been atrocious but that's another discussion entirely.
MLB network loves changes MLB made to the game. Shocking. The pitch clock is a farce. There have been so many ridiculous "violations" this season. The rule isn't clear, and faster isn't better. Also, the idea that professional players don't have a "two strike approach" is stupid. If your bat is properly fitted you shouldn't have to choke up to get better barrel control. This is stupid outdated thinking. Modern players all swing custom bats. Choking up on them would just throw the balance off. That's why you don't see it any more. These guys think that the way they did it is the only way.
Someone said many players are hitting, offense is up.Clock favors hitters, limiting pickoff attempts favors offense, steals are up,ballparks are still pretty easy to homer!
The pitch clock isn't the reason the game has more offense. I've been to games and it's forced to move too fast some of the time.
Some of the rule changes have been good, but the clock is bad overall. I hate going to the ballpark for a game now. You can't go to the bathroom. You can't watch the game and also explain what's happening to your kids…. who are the next generation of players. You can't tell stories or enjoy your friends company while closely following the game.
A group of my high school friends went to a game to celebrate a few 50th birthdays, and I just gave up trying to talk and watch. In the end, we would've been better off having a barbecue at someone's house with the game on in the background. It felt like a waste of time, money, and effort to get everyone to the ballpark.
There's very little reason to go through all the trouble to get into the ballpark for a 2 hour game that you can't even enjoy.
Hell, going to the bathroom can take almost a full inning.
I've loved the game my entire life. It's hard to support this bullshit though.
oh my god, you mean the shorter base paths have lead to more Stolen Bases & more runs, no shit. you dont have 90 feet to go anymore…you have super athletes in a shorter easier game…its a joke..cant pickoff anymore so there's no threat of anyone to stay at the base…youve literally taken ALLLLL the strategy outta the game. its easier with better athletes…its a joke. My grandmother could steal in todays game. Honestly if you had better athletes you should be making the game harder…theyre not, they're making it easier for these whiney babies these days. & congrats, 26 mins off, wow, what will I do with all the time saved, maybe if every highlight wasn't brought to you by t mobile or Hyundai we could shave 26 mins off just by doing that as well. These rules are a joke & if you like it, then congrats you love easy games & probably play MLB The Show on easy & enjoy winning 100-4. The game is supposed to be hard played by professionals, its not anymore, its easy to cater to the clowns who can barely play the game to begin with & wouldn't have even made it to pro ball in the old game. Old game>New Game.

Now cut 36 minutes of commercials, and we’ll have something.

Baseball player: “I wanna play baseball all day everyday. Let’s have an all day game. Extra innings, keep me on the field. I love this game.”
Baseball fans and shitty MLB Network analysts: “it’s boring. Hurry up and be done so we can bitch about how the game sucked.”
I’ll stick to watching amateur ball where the kids still shit it and get it.
Sincerely,
Baseball player
Amazing changes

New MLB rules are a travesty to baseball. MLB destroying baseball.
