Thoughts? Is this a good or bad move for Tiger and the tour?
I hate to say it, but the players need a Union with a player appointed official. That's the only way "all players" will get a far shake. Not just the few at the top.
So basically Jay is just an adviser now? Jury for me still out on Tiger. I know he is a huge PGA supporter but am curious if he will level the table with PGA, DP and LIV players. I know he loves the game so I am hoping he can help repair the PGA as a whole again.
Making more money 💰 will guide the pga . Brandell Chamblee for commissioner😂
Jay Monahan is done, these words mean nothing.
Are we still in the times of Obama, if you disagree with ANYTHING, you get labeled a racist? Idk?
I so much look forward to these videos. Let's face it, Tiger's best days are far behind him. I think Tiger being on the board is an excellent move. I can only hope that he will somehow tank the deal with Liv. I know that money will always win out and that really bothers me.
Like you, I hope all of this holds true and stays together. But, as I have said before, once the merger (buy out) is complete, the new owners may change everything. Does anyone really believe the Saudi prince is going to be governed to? I think he will do whatever he wants to do and to hell with the structure that anyone puts in place now. After all, he owns golf, and there are plenty of up comers to fill in for anyone who wants to leave.
Case in point… Twitter and Musk. 3/4 of the workforce gone and they haven't missed a beat.
Mergers, takeovers, and buyouts occur for 1 reason and 1 reason only. Money, money, and more money. The Saudis spend billions like I spend a dollar. The difference is that they want a return on their investments. One thing I'm pretty sure about is that the game/tour of golf is just a vehicle to make money. They are in the diversification phase for their country. They realize that the oil is not going to last forever. But I don't think they're the type to get into fast food restaurants.
Just another stooge.
Jay needs to go. LIV needs to be a 6 week top tier event with teams picked through player auctions. Same as the IPL.
Tiger on the board wouldn’t Phil be better on the board seems he has been right from day 1 and looks after his fellow golfers can’t say the same for someone who can’t manage himself ?
Bro invest in a mic filter screen to eliminate your breath and lip pops..
This will be the final nail in the coffin for Tiger
I though you had to be a "player" to be a Player Director. Tiger hasnt played in almost two years, except the odd major missed cut.
Tiger is not a good man 😮😮😮😮
It is all bullshit!! Monahan probably gave tiger min. Of 500000.00 under the table to take board position to get PGA players on board.give Monahan 2 months he will step down, retire with his 250,000,000.oo he will get from Saudi rulers which I am sure he has collected some for this sham agreement he is making now with pif.Every one listen to a rule in life "HE WHO HOLDS THE GOLD RULES" PGA ONLY HOPE IS OUR GOVERMENT SAYS ITS AN ANTITRUST DEAL.THATS LIFE…..
500,000,000.00 dollars should say
jay will never regain the trust, tiger will tank deal bc it would threaten his tgl.
I don’t see as anything other than a ex player – and his endorsement of Jay should be matched by Greg Norman being nominated by PIF
The players need a board they can trust. Not sure this really helps.
Would this have anything to do with them integrating the sim golf league rory and himself are heading.
…Tiger has majorly jumped on to protect HIS business association with the PGA Tour moving forward…😏
Simple now 6 players have to put their heads in the same nooses as Jay and the rest of the board, when they realise we play with the Saudi's or you all can find another job……. This allows Jay to share the shit sandwich with the players who were only too quick to take the elevated events and PIP payments to send PGAT broke. You do wonder if Jay had to offer Tiger some young house cleaners and a few waitresses in exchange for being a director.
Alex, Tiger done playing, But a question why isn't tiger ever the Ryder cup captain? And did the players vote who was on that committee?? Charley Hoffman? Phil did speak out for the players! This is only going to put a bigger divide between Liv and PGA, Funny The PGA gets to make all the rules ..while Liv has to follow them, sorry PGA piss off!
Look .. no matter your “feelings” about Tiger .. bottom line .. no one.. ABSOLUTELY NO ONE .. brought money to the world of golf like Tiger did!
It would be a “sport” played by middle class white guys that was watched by a few on a Saturday afternoon when nothing else was on.
Then cam Tiger … and he transformed the sport .. dominated .. and EVERYONE around the WORLD watched .. and the sponsors saw this and the money came .. no more Lee Trevino flipping burgers on his hibachi that was in the trunk of his car.
Now .. he will bring that same focus to the next phase of professional golf ⛳️ . Absolutely perfect position for Tiger!
Tiger isn't the best person to support the players. Tiger has always been all about Tiger. He has no idea what the majority of players deal with within the PGAT so how can he represent them?
Officially heard nothing from tiger after June 6. Tiger did say quite a bit before that.
Monahan is like a cheater who throws his shady money at his baby mammas to somehow earn trust ala Kobe with the big phat ring (sorry Kobe RIP) and keep them around…but the mammas no matter how much stuff they get will never ever really trust him. If that makes sense.
My concern is Monahan Tiger and Rory have been extremely aligned for a long time now, countless secret chats between them. Which makes me wonder what side tiger will represent more. Will tiger be there to protect the interests of players or all his interests made with Monahan. We know Monahan has been giving tiger 10s of millions every year the last few years despite tiger hardly playing at all. As they say nothing is free.
I do sincerely hope tiger proves this is a selfless act. But imo no matter how many player directors there are the commissioner still matters. On the pga tour and other sports, commissioners are always Criticized, but we almost always know whom the boss is. That was the case in golf with Beaman and Finchem. This has not been the case for golf for a long long time now. Commissioners are supposed to scold young athletes who naturally pull shenanigans. That’s what young men do but it makes ZERO sense when the young men have to be giving the Commish wrist slap after wrist slap.
This commissioner is constantly giving up the authority of a pga tour commissioner just to keep his role in all these big money negotiations.
At this point we have to ask if he is worth his salary after giving up so much decision making control?
The answer is clearly no.
Again, golf will see soon if tiger (and Rory) is another Monahan croanie doing this for his interests or if he truly is protecting players. With how much money is at stake for these people, and some of their actions of the last two years which were clearly to protect their interests, I’m not gonna lie, I’m not 100 rosy on this.
I do love tiger the golfer and still believe he will come back and win and I never judged his persona life ever thou I’m all about faithful marriage, but we have also heard for decades Tiger tends to take care of numero uno even if he has become more generous lately.
I will say it is good this commissioner appears to be losing powers. But it’s those back room deals we just don’t know about that makes this whole thing a concern still.
The more i hear about the behind the scenes garbage, the more I'm tuning out the PGA. PGA tour players give Liv golfers shit bc of self preservation, but the PGA tour and the players are doing the same damn thing
Tiger and Rory are in business together. How on earth can they manage the conflict of interest?
Bad idea, Tiger has a conflict of interest so does Roy
Personally i reckon Liv Tour backed by Pif should have bankrupted the Pga Tour. Then we wouldnt be having all the pga directors and ceo dictating what is the way forward, giving it all the crap we are run by the players, yeah right! Next minute they be telling the public they dont make any money off the players backs. Tiger in his day was brilliant, no one would likely disagree he is the GOAT. But does anyone really think he should be in the negotiating team? Golfer he is brain he likely isnt. With Pif at the helm with these so called pga executives in bit parts the game would be better for it for the players and the fans.
This will end up breaking up the LIV/PGA tour agreement to the detriment of the the PGA Tour….do these players think they will set the agenda for golf as a whole without input from the LIV or DP World tours….
This whole merger is a total cluster "f"
I'd like to ask how many times you can recall the C-suite asking the help what they think of the mergers or acquisitions they make? Adding a college dropout who can't even run his own affairs with any certainty isn't anything more than a ceremonial invitation. You're high.
I honestly dont under half of this but it just sounds like PGA are getting yes men in their corner.
More BS from Jay. This sorry ass is trying to save face….not a single word coming from him has any value. As for Woods being on the board…that to is smoke and mirrors. Tiger days to be on a player on the tour is over; moreover, all those players on that have put their name on the list will see their golf performance go down the drain. WTF do those player know anything about running a professional sports on a global stage. Know this, those that put the money into a business will ALWAYS have the POWER. If the player do so board are not happy what are they going to…walk away…well then their goes the PGA tour.
Sorry, but whenever there are large sums of money involved, transparency will always take second place, and I am telling you that large money is involved.
I still do not see this as a merger and I do not think some other players do either. The PIF is funding LIV and the PGA but for some reason because PIF is funding both they think it should allow LIV players some of the PGA stuff and a way back? This is like if a bank is funding two different businesses (example: McDonald’s and Olive Garden) then the employees from McDonald’s can work at Olive Garden just because they are funded from the same entity. Just doesn’t seem like this should be a merger.
