Patience with managers has long been a hot topic in football, especially in the demanding world of the Premier League. But in 2006 Charlton Athletic’s patience was wearing very thin as they stared relegation to the Championship down the barrel.

Managers came and went, none quicker than Les Reed. This is the story of the quickest Premier League sacking ever.

  1. That's some rookie numbers my friend! xD You should really take a look at the Brazilian footbal, where in the top flight of the league, the AVERAGE time in charge for managers are SIX MONTHS.

  2. Please add subtitles…the voice is little bit fast… difficult to understand.

  3. Tifo knew what they were doing uploading this with potter on the hot seat 😹

  4. This isn't the PL, but Paul Breitner was German national manager for 17 hours in 1998. He was sacked after DFB officials criticised his appointment.
Is that the fastest sacking ever? Not even a full day.

  5. As a Chelsea fan, hearing about 2 wins in 15 games hits too close to home

  6. Good content, but I'm not liking this new narrator for this channel. It takes me out of the content for some reason.

  7. I remember this season for Charlton well. Felt like the writing was on the wall from the start tbh, Dowie was an odd fit as were most of his signings, big club rejects weren't what Charlton were about under Curbishley. Reed was just random & didn't look the part at all, came across as a pencil pusher pretending to be a manager which has subsequently proven to be the case by his work at Southampton – very good at what he does away from the dugout.

Pardew was much better, felt like the right guy at the time, but too little too late. I was at the 4-0 win vs. West Ham (managed by Curbishley) when it really felt like they'd be OK. Shame.

  8. Never understood why curbishley hasn’t got a managerial job since West Ham

Aside from the rumour that he made West Ham pay it out and had a relative threaten the chairman for him

  9. Have a look at how long David unsworth played for villa. He had to leave cuz his Mrs didn't want him traveling to Birmingham 🤣

  10. I guess Liz Truss' only justifiable boast is that is she lasted longer than Les Reed.

  11. Simon Jordan is a bit of a joke I think, trying his damnest to get compensation when because of his own intolerance he's not entitled to any.

A bit foolish, especially from someone who is so quick to criticise others.

  12. Hmm… I’d argue he’s only technically the shortest tenure in PL history. I’m pretty sure De Boer had fewer games in charge and was only there longer because he joined in the close season. Also, I’m very confident that, if we included football before 1992, that this would be comfortably topped. I know Steve Copell lasted just 33 days at Man City and Brian Clough’s time at Leeds might have been even shorter. And even then I’m sure there’s one manager who was hired and fired in something daft like 72 hours…

  13. Shortest in days in charge only. De Boer would be shortest if the count started from first game in charge in the PL

  14. This video needs re-titling following Stellini's 29-day reign 😬
