  1. Regarding Russia and doping, there is a clip of joe rogan talking with Jordan Burroughs about the fact that all the athletes know, you can really tell how frustrated he is by the entire situation and sort of lack of care. Can give you an insight to what these athletes really feel.

  2. It looks like USFigure Skating has forgotten about their medal, just as they forgot they have got the first skater ever to perform a quad axel. A shame.

  3. I wonder if the exact same situation happened in a sport that the average US viewer really cared about, would there be a delay? If, for example basketball at a summer olympics. Can you imagine the uproar that would happen? I think there would be a decision made soon. Skating is not a big sport here and USFS and the networks are not going to demand anything.

  4. Agree with Jonathan about Japan, we can't come down hard on USFS without also coming down on the Japanese for not supporting their athletes.

  5. Oh boy! Alexandra might not have won any major titles in her figure skating career but she's certainly coming for Zagitova's place as laughing stock of the Russian public.

  6. Once a doper always a doper. This fiasco has left me not wanting to follow anymore Olympic competitions.

  7. I find it weird that the big TV channels in us choose not to make the doping story a huge scandal. I think it would bring them views , I mean you can make such a spicy story of it and also show the Olympics with the Russian rivalry if they will be allowed back.

  8. It is very hard to find a 16 year old male who has the strength for lifts to work with a 12 year old. I was 13yrs and had a 20yr old partner. It took a year for me to grow and mature so by 14-15, I was the perfect size for my partner to be successful.

The younger girl gets her feet wet in pairs with a man who has the physical strength. With this type of age gap. They then grow as a team for a year or two in order to get to that JR/SR level to be competitive. I wasn’t comfortable to socialize with my older partner and never felt like I was at risk for manipulation.

Look at JR men and do you see many that have the build and strength to lift and throw a 15 year old?

  9. Dave, the reason it’s “Ukraine” and not “the Ukraine” is it is a country and not a region. For example, we would say “the Rockies” or “the Midwest” but we wouldn’t say “the Canada” or “the France.” By saying “the Ukraine,” it supports Putin’s stance that Ukraine is not a sovereign country, but merely an area belonging to Russia. That’s why Ukrainians find that phrasing offensive.

  10. I would really question the coach saying the age-gap pairing is for the survival of the sport… at what cost? The cost of endangering a child? Even if he is a standup guy, it's putting them both in a precarious situation and putting sport above people.

  11. Not to be a Debbie Downer but I’m feeling pretty certain Kaitlin H looks miserable. She really loves to DJ, maybe she will find happiness there.

It makes me glum bc I always love their program choices and think they should be top 5 in the world for sure.

  12. Without the article you refer to Ukraine as an independent country as opposed to a region or province. "the Ukraine", "Kiev" etc are all examples of how the Soviet Union and Russia have been diminishing our culture, history, and in this case language for years. And you can find such examples of Russification in other now post-Soviet countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, when the names of places and even the names of people were deliberately deprived of their original uniqueness. We are trying to get people to pay attention to this because it shows that the nations in the Soviet Union were not all Russians, but very diverse groups who were extremely discriminated.

  13. From my understanding, “the Ukraine” refers to Ukraine under the Soviet Union when it was a state within the USSR. No that it is an independent country the “the” has been dropped to indicate so. Saying “the Ukraine” for some indicates that you are saying Ukraine is not an independent country.

  14. Thanks for the update Dave and Jonathan. We appreciate the effort that goes into researching and reporting these issues. Have y’all considered naming segments so viewers can more easily listen to/replay segments they’re interested in?

  15. Rather than expose young girls to body shaming and coerced body modifications, we should just not have lifts and throws in pairs skating at the younger levels. Just like figures used to be, everybody does dance moves and learns synchronicity until the boys pass tests of being able to lift increasing amounts of weighted barbells while skating across the ice. That way they don't have to hurt the girls while they are learning to build up their strength.

  16. I actually kind of feel bad for the other ROC athletes(Mark Kondratiuk, Victoria Sinitsina, Nikita Katsalapov, Anastasia Mishina and Aleksandr Galliamov) that skated clean (we hope) and haven't gotten their medals. Or any information as to when they'll get their medals. If they'll get the team medals.
