PDA Tour Players: "So Jay, now we're sponsored by LIV?"
Monahan: "They made me an offer I couldn't refuse, so…"
PGA Tour: "Now we're gonna make some money!"
Monahan: "We?"😃
They should have formed a union years ago. Now that they clearly see that the PGA is a money hungry, self considerated entity that does not have their back, they absolutely should form a union.
Its obvious that the PGA top execs lined their pockets through merging with LIV and the players are the pawns here.
The PGA Tour players that stayed are owed nothing. They didn't take a single chance.
Because the PGA has been bangin them minus lube for a long long time!! LIV golfers are heros and PGA lovers should be kissing their ARSE!!!
Since all the golfers are independent contractors and do not work for the PGA who would be parties in a collective bargaining agreement? In other pro sports, the players are employees of their teams.
The PGA being run like communist America.
A golf union??? I can just see Rory, Tiger, and other millionaires on the picket line … right there with Norma Rae. Get real.
There seem to be lots of entitled PGA players. I thought everyone was free to make their own decisions? Rory is such a cry baby
So Mr Jay accepted a few billion in the name of unity? Rory-Justin-Jordan and other high value targets missed out on hundreds of millions of dollars.
Considering the LIV just bought the pga tour I can tell ya their way back won’t be difficult at all 😂
UNPATRIOTIC, COWARDICE, PGA! Behind the backs of Fans and Players. Sold out to 911 SAUDI INHUMAN murdering Dictator. LIV was Bleeding Out, Ratings tanked. LIV could only get the WORST players the Cheaters, Coke heads, Tax Evaders and Worst Sportsmen.
PGA NO MORE, you KILLED GOLF!
I really hope they unionize and get a CBA.
Unionization will require a commitment by current players to future players. The European tour may be the winner in all this?
Of course there will be a path back. PIF will control. Nobody is going to be made “whole”
Don’t you suspect the PGA foresees financial issues (possible extended lawsuits, need to fund elevated events, sponsors who don’t want to pay more for less star power…). My guess is the PGA is in a position of weakness.
All the tour players should quit and form an American tour
Unions are useless they would have sold them out too
On the one hand, LIV was losing. The TV ratings were abysmal, and it was not exactly the roster of golfers overall that garnered a lot of public interest. And whatever things were happening in court, the PGA was winning. On the other hand, it's pretty clear the PGA was hemorrhaging money. Neither side really wanted to keep fighting in court because the discovery phase can reveal things that they didn't want revealed. But the PGA showed it's no longer worthy of the players' trust. How can the players do anything now BUT unionize? In so many cases throughout US history, unions seem unsavory, but it's because management's behavior is so fecal in dealing with its labor force that forming unions was necessary to gain respect and proper pay and treatment. No one thinks the PGA players are going to walk out and form their own tour, but a union and a collective bargaining agreement now seem inevitable. The PGA brought it on itself.
They didn’t trust the PGA tour to do what’s right, they just had no other choice because of the monopoly.
They have to be a union. Way before this.
Trump predicted this in July 2022.
Trust is 100% out the window. Not sure how Jay is not demoted to dishwasher after this.
PGA Tour: "There is no path back"
SAUDIS: "They play"
PGA Tour: "They will play".
My PGA golf-watching days are over. I don't expect anyone to care about that, except for God, who gives me all the time that I have and expects me to use it wisely.
Why is everyone concerned about LIV players returning to the PGA Tour? They left because LIV pays guaranteed money and a bigger purse. Plus a team event winner's purse. PGAT pays less, more competition, no team. Why return?
Who are the PGA Tour players "organizing" against to form a union? They are independent contractors. They work for themselves. It's their tour. They aren't under a contract with anyone but their own sponsors.
When LIV players start to filter back onto the PGA tour then LIV surely has to either disappear or become an 'open shop' for anyone to play. It could stay as a globe-trotting 'game-seller' with PGA + DPWT tournament winners from the previous season getting to enhance their success with elevated prize money. Playing personnel could be boosted if necessary from leaders on the OWGR points list and maybe some 'big names'. Qualifying players would only get to play maybe 2/3/4 events so they can still chase further success on their regular tours.
Jay has been given too much power to get revenge on LIV and LIV players, when he has taken the same Saudi money, my advice please do not use this power to come down on LIV, it will backfire
Every company should have a union. Start one at your employer, today!
Jay must go ! Jay must go !
PGA is not the US, but Liv is the gov of SA which is a family posing as a country. Nothing good for anyone else will come of this. It’s dangling money to co-opt legitimacy they lack.
