BJ Callaghan and US Soccer have named a very strong USMNT Roster for the Nations League semi-final against Mexico and potential final. It’s largely made up of European based players, with Christian Pulisic, Folarin Balogun, Ricardo Pepi and Giovanni Reyna headlining the team. Injuries to a few players make it weaker than we’d hoped for but this is still the strongest roster in CONCACAF.

spectrum in cali 😭👋
I'd like to see what Cohen can do and potentially be a 2 a starting goalie in the Champions League
Here's the FIXED version of today's botched stream guys! Sorry about the technical issues. I'm gonna sort it out the internet situation before Sunday.
I don’t think we can beat Jamaica at the World Cup
You cant spell spectrum without rectum
Why do we act like gold cup and nations league have to be separate completely we could have brought mark to both same with brooks
With all due respect to Canada and Mexico. Player for player the United States has the most talent and it is not close. Now does that mean we will win no, because our coaching is not great right now. But I still think we should win it all.
I hope BJ doesn't blow it for us this summer! I hope he inspires the team to rise to the occasion!
Turner; Dest, Richards, Trusty, Robinson; Musah, McKennie; Booth, Reyna, Pulisic; Weah.
Been waiting for this one
GGG can not return. It is not an option – will destroy USMNT.
A strong roster for one or two games. The MLSers at the Gold Cup for six or seven.
One conflict sneaking up on us is that Reyna's move into the middle compromises McKennie's utility behind him. He's better without an attacking central midfielder in front of him. I don't think the dual-pivot role is natural. It is natural for LDLT who played there in Eredivisie. Is McKennie so much more talented that he's a better choice to start in that formation?
I am not concerned about coach BJ. I have always believed that GGG was in the way of the team so having an interim coach who clearly is not is an improvement.
Drake is definitely one to watch. His shot stopping is really good. I know MLS is not a high-level but think about it. Miami is so bad at defense calendar ends up being the one getting most of the work on the field. Miami should have been destroyed in so many games but drake keeps them alive. It reminds me of how Tim Howard developed for the metro stars. I still think he needs a couple more years in MLS.
BJ saying this players need to prove more to them to be considered when their better than Miles and Zimmerman?
I love your take on triple G. !?
I don't know what you're talking about pete jesus Ferrera got a fifa 23 team of the season card…HE MUST START. (this is sarcasm btw)
Inter Miami season ticket holder. Drake Callender is solid: good reflexes, reach, aerial presence & decision making. Think he’s better than Sean Johnson. Arguably 2nd best on this list behind Turner
No Arriola. I'm outraged! 😉
Yeah good catch on that statement regarding Brooks. "We hope he has a good pre-season". I caught that too. So probably a no for the Gold Cup. It seems like Brooks is still in the dog house.
I like our forwards. Hope they can both show well.
Totally agree with you Pete! You need to initiate these younger players with the full team sooner rather than later. This is a holdover from the GGG era where he waited so long to bring Scally in. Gold Cup will be a bunch of rehashed MLS oldies.
If USSF actually gets a good coach I can live with all these antics.
If it just ends up being Jesse Marsch then it's been a total waste of time.
If GGG got rehired I might stop watching.
Big game for the Men U20's. Ecuador got handled pretty easily by South Korea. Makes me feel that our U20's have not really been tested yet. I hope they really come out and play and aren't over confident. Go USA!
Semi Final USA vs Israel followed by USA vs South Korea for 3rd place.
Cohen wasn’t on preliminary roster, can’t make gameday squad.
Looks like another roster filled with foreigners
I don’t agree with using competitive tournaments to develop players that have potential. The only developing players that should be included in the gold cup are third string positional players to fill the backup spots for the second string players that should be starting in gold cup. Friendlies and camp cupcake are for introduction and “development”. We can’t make it easy for players to be called in. Tournaments have consequences despite our lack of interest in the gold cup.
We have no excuse if we don’t win nation’s league
What more does Pepi have to do to get any respect from y’all. I’m a huge Pepi guy. His season was more impressive than Balogun. Did more with a ton less around him. Top scorer in the Dutch league on a relegated team. I’d love to see a double pivot at striker. Both are great possession players that can create their own chances. If GGG is asked back I’m done with the usmnt. Fact that he’s not talking to a top 5 club screams his incompetence on the pitch and in the clubhouse. No way I’m bringing that cancer into a clubhouse.
I’d like to see a 3-2-3-2. MCKinney and Musah as the low block 2, pulisic on right, Reyna in middle, delatore on left. Bal left Pepi right striker. Defense is Robinson, dest and The spirit of of ream. His virtual presence is better than anything else we have
Miles Robinson looks world class to me.
I want see Cade Cowell and Luna in the gold cup. At least they deserve some minutes.
US soccer might be waiting for europeans leagues are over to see whose available as coach
Pete seems adamant that the USMNT has a better player pool than Canada, and likewise that our win and draw against the USMNT in qualifying came down to coaching. Well, we have the two hottest strikers in CONCACAF in Larin and David, and when I look at your 'exalted' player pool, I ask myself: Who's going to score your goals for you? Pepi? Pulisic? maybe… but our front four of Davies, Buchanan, Larin and David is way better than your forwards. We're feeling pretty confident that Nations'w league is our tournament to lose….
My Canadian POV: The US is definitely the favorite at this stage, not by a massive margin but still no questions asked. They are the only CONCACAF team who made it to the second round in the last world cup. Of course, Canada (I hope I am not annoying by making a small correction: Davies is expected to be back from his injury in time for the Nations League, it's the Gold Cup he is gonna miss) and Panama are both fairly young and some our and their players have naturally progressed since then but the same is true for the US. Moreover, with Balogun the US has gotten a new important piece while the same isn't true for Canada and Panama, and, of course, the home-field advantage matter. The one weakness I see in the US is having a new coach and potentially being in something of a period of transition as a result.
Beyond that, and while acknowledging I am biased, Canada seems the most likely threat to the US here IMO. We've proven we can beat you in an important game recently, and with a less healthy roster than we will have in Vegas to booth, and there is a determination to win a trophy as the next stage in our progression in this team. Granted, the World Cup didn't go super well in terms of results but we very much had the group of death retrospectively and from what I have seen non-CONCACAF observers' take on Canada in Qatar was ''solid performance overall, would have deserved better!'' Moreover, I'd argue that we are essentially seeing the weakest Mexican team in a while here: they are growing older, they are going through some troubles these days, they are relying too heavily on LigaMx players, they haven't won a CONCACAF competition since before COVID and they have almost failed to make it to the semi-final. Granted, they came close to making it to the second round in Qatar but IMO, and Argentine's eventual victory notwithstanding, their group was probably the easiest and I'd argue that any of the other three CONCACAF teams in Qatar would have gotten through based on their performance. As for Panama, they are to be respected and taken seriously, to be sure, but at the end of the day, I'd argue they simply do not have the same quality as the three others, especially Canada and the US.
If I had to make odds of winning it all I'd go I) US II) Canada III) Mexico IV) Panama
On a more specific note, as a CF Montréal supporter, I do hope Mihailovich gets a chance sometime this summer. He was an absolute juggernaut for us last year just before his injury, on literally the last game before an international window for which he had been called! IMO he could eventually become a valuable piece of the USMNT if he is given the chance.
