When NWA Powerrr first started there was a great buzz around the company. It was the hottest the company had been in years, they had new ownership, investment and a great roster. But fast forward to now and the NWA is far less popular and as someone who has watched every NWA Powerr episode and watches every week, the vibe around the company is just a lot different. This is the story of Billy Corgan’s NWA. Credit to Rhiannon for help with the thumbnail.

  1. Corgan has no faith in his women’s roster let alone the men. They lost some big name but have done a poor job at building the next star. Matt Cardona landed in their lap and they failed to capitalize on his heat when he returned from injury he should’ve gotten another Run and just work
An angle where he defended the NWA championship everywhere except the NWA

  2. How are you gonna mention the people that left over and over and not mention Eli drake and just kinda tossed in James Storm at the end. Bith are great wrestlers that were a huge part of its 2019 success. Much bigger than people like Kingston

  3. People no good in the ring as champ is a wrestling trope I mean look at Goldberg he was champ had an undefeated streak and is garbage

  4. There are different philosophies and that makes wrestling more interesting in the large scope of things. However, Billy Corgan has a terrible philosophy that he uses to run NWA. Corgan said in an interview that he wanted his wrestlers and champions to LOOK like people who could beat people up for real. And that's why we had Trevor Murdoch and Tyrus holding the ten pounds of gold for the majority of the last 2 years. That's right, Billy Corgan put the "oldest and most prestigious championship with the richest lineage in all of pro wrestling" on…..the man who is most known for being the Funkasouras midcard jobber in WWE and he is mildly known for playing 2nd fiddle to EC3 and……Matt Hardy…..during TNA's lowest point. Not to mention a lot of people are so consumed by politics in the US that they can't watch an entertainment product with someone in it whose politics they disagree with. And not only does Corgan have the Fox news co host on the NWA show but he's the Word Champion. Tyrus is 50 years old. He's 10 years past the prime he never had and his prime was him dancing with two valets who were more over than him. He can't wrestle, he can't move, he's decent on the mic at best, but hey, he LOOKS like he could beat up people for real. As long as that is Billy Corgan's criteria for his wrestlers and champions, the NWA is going to continue to draw 20 people to their shows until Corgan gets tired of losing money (assuming he ever does) and he let's the dead horse that is the NWA finally rest 40 years after it died.

  5. I stopped watching when they got rid of the Dokken opening theme. Not for that reason obviously, but it seems like the company just started going downhill during that time in general.

Also no way in HELL am I taking Trevor freaking Murdoch seriously 😂🤣

  6. The way Lagana handled the Cornette comment was the start of the downfall. Covid crippled the roster, as i was watching every week before it. Now with Aldis gone they have no credibility. Cornette made it feel like the old NWA an d Aldis was the new NWA. Without those those two, it would have never even gotten to it's original success.

  7. While the pandemic had already severely weakened the company due to the loss of great talent going elsewhere to get paid, losing Aldis was the knockout punch. He had charisma, looked and acted like a champion, and definitely was the face of the company. As for Tyrus, I even know Faux News loving Trump supporters who think he's absolute trash and shouldn't be champion. Even the people who didn't like Trevor Murdoch as champion still preferred him over Tyrus.

  8. I think Corgan lost his mind after the pandemic, wtf is a Tyrus or whatever he's called a champ.

  9. I didn't see 2019 NWA just a random show during the past year around the Murdoch reign. I liked it. It had an 80s feel to it. They were introducing a new belt & the redneck didn't like that belt… He had one with Texas on it or something? Either way he refused to take it from Billy & it caused a big stink.

I liked Billy on air presence. If 2019 was better okay cool. Then i probably would have really loved it. This was good enough that I would watch it if I was a TV show, but as a YouTube product nah. I don't get down with serialized dramas on YouTube

  10. I'm sorry but Billy really dropped the ball here…..
A best of 7 series between Nick Aldis and Matt Cardona would have been a mega draw…..I mean Tyrus is ok but he is not World champion material…..
Billy you need to swallow your pride and go get Nick back…..
Losing the Question Mark really hurt as well as he was super over with the fans!!…..Mixing him up with Aaron Stevens was a stroke of genius because they were able to get each other over…Then again that was just a stroke of bad luck!

  11. 2019 Into the Fire NWA was awesome. Miss those days. Talent leaving, and all the other little changes along with moving off YouTube to Fite was it. I went from couldn’t wait to completely gone. Just like that.

  12. Completely left out the David Lagana departure, which massively altered their creative and production status.

That being said, Tyrus represents the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship ? You had James Storm and didn't put the belt on him?!? Congrats, you're making TNA Hogan decisions.
