I’ve been working on this technique for a bit now and I’ve chipped in 3 shots this week. Great commentary!
This WORKS!
LOL, I paid $100 for a short game lesson that taught me this. I will say at the time it was the best $100 I spent. It’s amazing how your mind figure out how hard to hit the ball based on your normal putting stroke.
Ahem, "apartment'. Great tips, thanks Playa….

Great lesson! But how DO you get a skanky lie out of your apartment 😂
I’ve had a few skanky lies in my apartment! 😂
OmG a skankie lie, I’m using that today dude
Skanky lie is the greatest addition to my golf vocabulary. Best I have heard since the summer of 89’!
I actually just recently learned this (after 15 years of competition golf) when I saw Tiger talk about it a bit with Scottie Sheffler and its great. Super simple and gets through even heavier rough really well.
Great tip on chipping, Matt. The course you’re on is gorgeous.
It's the first chip I teach to anyone before going on to more loftier shots
Yes°
I chipped in for birdie yesterday doing that, this is my money shot.
Then tried the same thing for birdie again on the last hole, I hit the pin gently, nice tap-in par to end the round.
I finished with a personal best of 90…
I would have broken 90 for the first time if that last chip went in! 😢😆
The day before, I shot a 90 as well.
Felt like the gods of golf were playing with me haha!
So proud of my progress! I feel like a true playa!
Waddalife!
Haha. True about the skanky. See it once and don’t wanna see it no more
Great video – love this tip.
You didn't even really highlight the reason it's so useful to raise the heel of the club. It effectively utilizes the lower tip of the chipping club, eliminating all that long base that so often gets caught up in the grass or worse, chunks it an inch or two behind the ball.
You end up with a nice, curved, smaller section of the blade to glide through any grass and connect more solidly with the ball. But remember, there is a slight tendency for the ball to go a little more right.
Excellent. After your Rule of 12 video I started doing this around the green and it's helped immensely. Now I just need to get near the green in the first place…
Whoa brilliant timing Playa! … just stumbled on the reverse overlap grip recently on my own and now finding it everywhere. Synchronicity
Getting a skanky lie out of the apartment may be easier than hitting that chip shot!!! LOL
One of the tips in your recent "Break 85" video is to putt around the greens whenever possible. As a player around 5'9s skill, would you still recommend putting the shots in this video?
If Bob Ross did chipping videos…this would be it!
“just like that….a happy little chip” 😂
I'd started doing something like that recently and talked myself out it, couldn't be right because nobody else was doing it. I'll be doing it again now, love the calm way you talk it through.
Cheers mate , good info 👌
Had a few skanky lies back in the day. Thanks baus
I'm trying to get the hoes
Phil Mickelson says I should run the hell away from people who chip like you 😏. Nah but I was taught this way with lessons too and I'm just not comfortable hitting it consistently with this chipping method. I much prefer the hinge and hold with the same 58 and feel the shot out. I've done so much better. Cheers if you can do it the chip and run way.
Very cool! This distills a lot of the chipping thoughts from the earlier BDog video!🙌
Why off the toe?
Like I’m watching bob ross playa happy lil skanky lie
Can’t wait to try this! Thanks.
It’s like listening to Bob Ross of the golf world, so calm, so happy. Love it
Why you talking like Bob Ross??? LOL Great stuff, PLAYA in Chief!!!
Yesz this works like a charm. Awesome 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Need to kick a few skanks out of the apartment 😂😂😂😂

Matt, I was hoping you would tell us how to get a Skanky lie out of my apartment, but you didn’t! 😂
