It turned into a typical Coors Field slugfest with the Mets rallying from a 6-0 deficit and briefly taking the lead but Ryan McMahon’s two-run homer in the seventh helped the Rockies to a 10-7 win. Justin Verlander started and was hit hard, surrendering six earned runs over five innings, but Pete Alonso’s 20th HR and Francisco Alvarez’s dramatic three-run blast helped get the Mets even at 6-6. A Starling Marte RBI single gave New York a brief lead but the bullpen faltered in the seventh and eighth innings, allowing Colorado to prevail.

only silver lining is Alonzo on his way to break the Mets HR record. Other than that, paying so much for Verlander to get beat up by the Rockies? pathetic
I can't for the life of me what goes through Showalter 's head batting Alvarez 9th.
Mets pitching this year has been absolutely awful, offense always seems like it has to bail them out…
Pitching is a complete shambles at the moment. The incompetence is actually baffling.
Why the hell is Alvarez battling 9th? Why?
The pitching is awful
We sure know what will happen tomorrow! The Mutts will LOSE YET ANOTHER SERIES TO A TEAM FULL OF QUAD A PLAYERS!!! Different series, different year, same old Mutts
never actually thought Mets would have a PITCHING problem this year especially coming off the stellar performance from last year.
Hey what happened to all the geniuses calling Alvarez a bust when the kid had only been up for two weeks and was batting like .200?
