Really anxious to try this out! Especially since I have always been taught to swing inside-out & swing to Right field or 1 o'clock. As always, appreciate all your golf instruction! You have made me a better golfer for sure.
i am already so far left, 2-7 degrees, i have to feel swing to the right to shallow and even out path
This puts a lot of my issues into perspective. Thank you.
One other question is I've found myself rolling the wrists a bit early or just before impact.what can cause this?
Hit a draw ? This doesn’t sound correct
I’m 74 years old and have played golf regularly since I retired about 10 years. Your videos have provided me more insight into the golf swing than any other golf site on UT or in person golf lesson. Greetings from Colorado and thank you!
This is Brilliant.
Every person I hear and have seen say “swing left” etc etc just makes me pull it or really strain my wrist/forearm when i hit good ones
Doesnt bowing the left wrist encourage the flatening of the right fotearm?
Coach Mike Wydra says that a pro’s divot points slightly left because it follows the swing path after striking the ball with a square face. That aligns nicely with what you are explaining here. Thanks again for the instruction.
Russell, I have had a question about this for a long time. Instructors always give their students two ideas that seem to conflict: we are told to "swing to the left" but also to swing "in-to-out" (as opposed to "out-to-in"). How can we swing BOTH to the left AND in-to-out? Doesn't the "out" part of in-to-out imply swinging to the right? I'd love to have you clear up this confusion.
Thank you for your brilliant videos; the length (4-6 mins) is just right for imparting a single idea each lesson, and you focus on teaching a simple swing that anyone can make. I have taken my index from playing off 8 to off 4 in the year that I've been following your instruction every day. Cheers
Is swinging to the right not key to hitting a draw?
Excellent videos😊
Why are all my strikes off the toe! Why god……Why!! I'm guessing early extension, but can't correct it for the life of me.
Hi Russell, I watched your recent lesson on shallowing the driver. I have been trying to shape my swing with the driver to go in to out. Some shots were ok some not, I was consistently inconsistent. I tried. With some difficulty to follow what you said about shallowing the club, again I was inconsistent. I persevered, then slowing my back swing down to what I thought was almost slow motion (it wasn’t that slow when I watched the swing on a video) I had time to feel the club head sort of drop, then start rotation and the club head whipped through with very little effort and off that little ball went into the distance. Prior to this I was hitting the ball 186 to 195 yards. 210 is now common but have had a few drives at 230 to 240 yards. The only issue is I am now in uncharted territory for my second shot 😀 Thanks for all your videos…….. Mike P
The club is coming into the ball from the inside, so isn't the clubhead going right? It's your body turning left that straightens that out.
But is swinging to the right not required to hit a draw? It also prevents coming over the top & the inevitable slice does it not?
Great visual of right wrist hinge at top to shallow downswing is great.
An RH top 10 or top 20, or whatever we’re up to…first time I’ve seen such a lucid explanation of what you trying to do and how to do it…without appearing contradictory. Thank you.
Everything I do decently in golf I owe to you!
Love your instruction Russell, you’re my favorite!
Can't quite understand the logic. In order to hit down AND to the right, just move the hoop forward towards the target and out away from the body until the low point is slightly outside the target line and ahead of the ball. Please clear up my confusion, thanks.
I could see this if you were in the same spot perfectly at impact. I'll try it before I completely disagree. Typically I'm a little forward so the bottom of my swing would be moved forward allowing for a negative angle of attack.
