  1. I got fitted for my driver a few months ago but since then I now have had to change the degrees from 10.5 to 9 degrees and im a borderline X stiff shaft now at a 110-113 mph swing speed (160 ball speed ) for reference I have a cobra ltdx max with UST Helium 5F4 Stiff Flex 60 gram. My good shots are also very spinny in consideration to people I play with. My old driver was a taylormade rbz with a regular shaft.

  2. Got custom fitted for the first time. Went from Cobra F8 to a Callaway Paradym standard with regular shaft but a bit lighter.
Got about an extra 25 yards and the bad shots were still close to fairway.
So for me it was a good buy

  3. I'm only mid-30s, but I learned golf on old literal woods. You had the clubs you had and you learned how to play the clubs. I kind of miss the days of learning your clubs rather than tweaking every aspect to "fit you."

  4. I bought my driver based on its looks. It’s a massive improvement over my old driver as I now look cooler.

  5. With the cost of clubs today I think it's false economy not getting a fitting. I always get fitted and have done for years.

  6. It's hard to tell. I'm quite a short hitter of the ball so I assume my swing speed is slow. The pro told me I was going to high so I reduced my loft to 10.5. Another pro told me to tee it down as I was still going too high, so I went from orange to pink tee. However the ball still launches really high, so I'm now experimenting with 9.5 degrees which is going OK. But I'm still hitting it short. Very frustrating!

  7. Spot on Matt, I have a Honma XP-1 and 9.5° setting slightly open and flat (but it is a draw bias). Stiff flex shaft but the vizard ones feel light and swing so easy. I often get looked at weirdly becuase I have a good swing speed and 10 handicap and everyone expects that I should have a Stealth LS type thing. Reason is I did my research tried out a lot of clubs and fittings and this club just swings itself and suits my characteristics I am not a 6ft gorilla so a club designed for people of my stature makes sense. Although it is designed for someone with a slower swing speed the combination of setting, flex just works with my swing better than any other club. I have a Ping G425 Max which I was fitted for with a stiff Aldila white shaft and it was a joy to hit and a fairway finder however it was at it's limits and when the XP-1 came down to a sensible price I went for it and I was surprised how many people noticed how I was hitting noticeably straighter and longer and smoother than before. As you know you do not expect to see marked increases between clubs but really fidning the club that suits you that you hit controlled and out of the middle will give you the best results, put the ego away and the brand hunting away and actually get fitted for anything and everything.

  8. The pro at my local course gave me some advice after he saw me hit a handful of drives. I've always been a decent driver of the ball. I'm a 19 hdcp and generally carry 260 yards using a hand me down Ping G25 with unknown shaft flex which has been hit an unknown number of times.

My stock shot is a heely, low fade with very low spin. Tenancy to slice now and again and the odd snap hook.

After watching me drive he was impressed with my swing and numbers. When I mentioned i was interested in getting a new driver to narrow the dispersion in bad shots he said any time I'm hitting wayward shots they'll be because of such bad swings no driver would save them.

If you have a stock drive with relative consistency but sometimes get wayward in either direction, very few drivers will save you. However, a few lessons will help. I've since been for a few more lessons using the same driver. I still have the same dodgy drive in me yet my dispersion is much narrower and the snap hook is almost completely gone.

Lessons will make you a better golfer, no matter what clubs you use. There's a reason some single figure handicaps still use 20 year old clubs whilst some players with $2500 bags can't break 100.

  9. Don’t talk about fittings for us lefties! Never have all the stuff in for us! Went for a fitting, I had to drive over 2 hours and they only had 2 irons and no hybrids to try!

  10. Great video Matt, I really like the tech/equipment info videos you do (the loft/length of irons one last year was really good too).
I don't follow any other Golf Youtubers who do this type of content, so thank you and keep up the good stuff!😁

  11. I'm a high handicapper just started last December and I also use a 4in tee so I hit my best with a 9° head I have 2 drivers a cobra speedzone 9° with stiff shaft and a stealth plus 10.5 turned down to 9° draw bias with a reg shaft and I hit them about the same. The cobra I hit alot more centered. My swing speed is only around 86mph

  12. I have a Ping G-400 that I hit 60-70 percent of fairways at about 205-210 yards (short I now) , I have an M2 and a TaylorMade R11 and with either I hit 30 percent or less (180yards) , no Idea why?? It just works. The other 2 sit and collect dust now. I took them out last weekend at the driving range and same thing. Is it mental? Not sure but that G-400 I hit straight, and I am awful at golf currently 20 handicap.

  13. Three lessons for 100 pounds! I need to go to the UK for lessons! In the US my experience has been that private lessons usually run $100-150 each and you often have to sign up for a multi-lesson package.

  14. I lucked out. I just picked up a left-over Rad Speed XB 10.5 regular without a fitting, just a simulator test drive. Store would not remove the factory wrap during testing, so I will admit I was nervous. Fitting in my area is not plentiful or cheap, so I always played budget/used and never spent this much on a single club. Turns out, after about 5 rounds, I have a new best friend. Still have My Own issues, but this driver had me hitting better, straighter and as far, sometimes a wee bit more than my previous driver could prior to my neck surgery. I returned to playing this year and according to the sim. I lost about 12-15 MPH on my swing speed. I will get some of that back but knowing this club already welcomed me back to golf, is nice.

  15. Go where and get a fitting Matt? Maybe you can do a video to explain how and where to go about doing so? For example, are such fittings done by just one manufacturer (Youtube sponsored by Mizuno) or are there fittings using a variety of makers? You make it sound like common knowledge. I really don't think it is.

  16. I got fit a few years ago for TSi3 @ 9.0 Extra Stiff and it was a great club for coming back into the game, but picked back up a bit more speed since then (was around 122mph), Now I'm hitting around 128-134mph and got fitted into TSR4 @ 8.0 (down to 7.25), but they didn't have the shaft (ventus black TR 6x) for me to test with left dash golf ball.

  17. I am a mid-high handicap that plays the low handicap drivers. Reason is that my miss on a driver face is more N/S and not as much E/W. This was found in a fitting. That means the taller faced drivers, ie pear shaped drivers, just work better for me. Plus I tend the spin the ball a lot, so the low spin design of those low handicap drivers help me. Always on the lookout for a mid to high handicap driver that is low spin and has a tall face, so if anyone knows of any, let me know. Draw biased would be a plus.

  18. A quick question, Matt
What, if any, are the differences between a 10 degree head and 9 degree head cranked up to 10 degrees, given the same make and model of driver.

  19. 12 handicap and play Draw Bias 2017 m2, 65 AV blue stiff shaft. 300 yards is achievable, average around 275 so it works well for me. I agree with a lot of the comments though, go and get some lesson’s 👍

  20. I got fitted at my own club,by our pro..who has numerous awards, pga etc..i was red dot..then i waa black dot..clubs seemed good ag start..couldnt hit the driver..so went to another pro,a friend, who told me the shaft was far too long for me,and the loft was all wrong..took an inch off driver, regripoed, changed loft..now i get it away 9 times out of 10.decent..getting my irons sorted next..next set ill just buy off the peg,or online,my mates do that, never get fitted, and play good golf..so ill never get fitted again .its a fallacy really.cintrol the low point with your individual swing..practice..keep away from oros telling you, that you need this dynamic this and lie angle that, it's garbage..😮

  21. Hey Matt. It would be nice to include the overall distance, not just carry since the less lofted club should roll out further in theory. Also another commenter suggested loft of the club vs adjusting the loft up or down.
    Thanks!

  22. I had a bog standard 10 degree driver with reg flex shaft that came with the set I bought and was struggling with slice and distance as I'm old a high handicapper.
I bought a Cobra Radspeed , put the loft at 12 degree with reg flex and I am now getting 50 yards further but mainly it is going straight , even poor shots are going further than before and staying on the fairway
