For 30 years plus a baseball league has been going on in the East Valley, started by Chris Hite. It has grown into one of the premier programs for special needs, adults, and youth in the country. Chris also began, one of the few if not the only year-round golf for Special Olympics athletes. Some of the best Special Olympics golfers in America have participated in this unique program. Through it, many athletes have been given opportunities to compete nationally and be recognized. Such as Amy Bockerstette from the now well-known Phoenix Open par on number 16 with professional golfer Gary Woodland https://youtu.be/rYSjFvCNP7Q and the first golfer, with down syndrome to compete in a National College Championship https://youtu.be/ux-zBJzIGqI.
