I think setting a realistic target is so important, I always look at tour average and aim to hit the ball to that distance, no point aiming at a tight pin when the average your pro isn't always hitting the green, aim at a realistic target, has definitely helped me improve
I played golf with your dad today. It was a brilliant round and we all played great. Keep up the good content 👍
My dude.
JLY
Love this guy and his training technique
Keep your eyes on the ball the whole time when chipping/pitching. This completely revolutionized my game and I shot my personal best even par 72 at my home course and people constantly comment on my touch with the ball around the green and approach shots.
Well done for breaking the 400K. Another really useful video, thank you.
I'm struggling with 10 to20 yards inmy back swing is good but then I come to follow though its like I'm playing cricket
Been watching this series as a 9hc i shot 77 today really felt like a lot of your advice has been paying off. Of course am practicing and having lessons too but just wanted to say thanks.
Mark I tend to shank these kind of shots but not my full shots any idea why.
Who is “They”? Are you not one of them?
Kills my game from this distance, especially when shortsided. Hit 14 fairways and lots of good mid/short iron but from 70 inwards shanks, thins and fats.
In the playlist for this series, two of the videos are showing as “private”.
Nice! Great tips Mark! I like the attitudes towards the various grinds and such. I still only barely get it, but I’m not really caring too much about it either. LOL.
A significant difference between full and partial swings is the axis of rotation for the club head mass, which dictates the swing arc. In full swings in which the trail arm bends the lead shoulder is the axis of rotation. But in partial swings where both arms stay straight for most of the swing the axis rotation shifts to the spine and trail shoulder which produces a shallower, upward swing arc into the ball.
Another difference is the interaction of ball with face of the club. In a full swing the downward force compresses the ball in one spot on the face, carries it there, then releases it. On turf ball gets pushed into the ground which results in more spin when it pops off the face. With partial swings there little to no compression which allows the ball to roll up the face before releasing to create the spin. That spin up the face action is a reason you want to chip and pitch with straight arms and body rotation to keep the swing arc shallow and upward instead of a downward blow with bent trail arm.
That’s two pitching wedges and two six irons in your set now?
@Mark Do you give online lessons?
Awesome video for a trouble spot of mine. Thanks
Oddly, I don't mind the in between wedge shot. I do a lot of pitching as an 80s player and I really enjoy the short, smooth swings with the wedges. Good pitching and putting are the things that decide whether I have a good day or a bad one.
Great series I wish I was able to take part in. Just simply no time to practice with a newborn child at home so whenever I do play, it's a struggle mentally knowing I should be better.
Mark, been watching your content for a long time, anytime I need a fix I go to your videos. Always good, always concise, and always spot on. Thanks for helping us all get better at golf!
