then you laugh at someone calling in and saying the play by play guy sux! (Chip) which for some reason takes a day off and we thought he quit and went back to the ATL! then he's in the crowd next to brad thompson who sux! then we have to listen to jim edmonds and whomever ackerman is it!! everything about this season is not exciting bring back Danny Mac …. he was never drunk at work give the guy a break he's the best chip carey cant announce gravers and cubs games for all I care he sounds like a douche anyways with that john o hurley game show voice!!! everything sux! tell me im wrong

If you all think this is a horrible start to a season, I've seen worse in my 50-plus years as a Cardinals fan. In particular was the start of the 1973 season, exactly 50 years ago, where the Cardinals lost 25 of their first 30 games (5-25, a .167 winning percentage). They finished the season 81-81, good for 2nd place one and a half games behind the Mets in the Eastern Division, who won the division with a 82-79 record. The Mets defeated the Western Division champion Cincinnati Reds (99-63 record) 3 games to 2 in the LCS, then lost the World Series 4 games to 3 to Tony LaRussa's Oakland A.'s.. You fans younger than I (age 63) are terribly spoiled by the success that the Cardinals have enjoyed the last quarter of a century.
5/6/2023 – winning percentage now .303 which when extrapolated over a full season equates to a 49 -113 record which would place this team among the top 4 worst (franchise) teams of all time according to baseball reference with only 3 of the dreadful legacy St Louis Browns teams from 1895, 1898 and 1897 having a lower season winning percentage!!! And we are talking about teams that were then not even known as he Cardinals but which Baseball Reference includes as legacy teams under the Cardinal banner. This is now the worst team actually named the Cardinals in the history of the franchise dating back 123 years to 1900. But wait, it is worse than that as this team now ranks as the 138th worst winnig percentage record in 143 Seasons with only 3 St Louis Browns teams that were worse with a sub .300 winning percentage.
I mean how does a modern Cardinals team manage to such so bad – what is the secret sauce????
Structurally, the new schedule means that the Cardinals no longer can feast on the weak teams in the NL Center and they play all teams in both leagues and they cannot slide by with mediocre talent and a woefully inadequate pitching.
Now some bright spots. Contreras is a gamer and Goldiie looks like his MVP self and Nolan A seems to be coming around.
Now for the bad news – Tyler O'Neill is not a gamer and probably is never going hit more than .250. The bullpen is inconsistent and the starting rotation cannot pitch a shutout which is about the only way this team can win a game.
This years team could be another version of the 1973 Cardinals. Look them up and see what I mean. Marmol and Mo need to do something because if they decide they are going play piss poor all summer long, fan interest and stadium attendance will more than likely decline.

Tell Jim thanks for getting the wave going last night. It's very simple this team is very poorly coached. I really don't care if it upsets Ollie, the way they are playing is a direct reflection of him and the coaching staff. Apparently the Cardinals coaching staff has a "let them hit" strategy SMH. I'm being serious by the way they actually have this PHILOSOPHY in mlb with the best hitters in the world.

Cardinals continue to set records for being bad. Accept it.

Man listen, I’m not gonna blame Willson or the pitching coach. And one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard is he is not framing pitches cleanly. Maybe if the pitchers pitch strikes then we wouldn’t be in this discussion. Pitchers need to pitch and stop throwing to the batter. Willson is not to blame here
