During the 2020 Discraft Ledgestone Insurance Open, Lisa Fajkus’s cardmates claim that she used her backpack as a location marker to help guide her down the fairway. The final ruling was that this WAS in fact illegal and 2 penalty strokes were added to her score.

Good rule, but it makes you wonder why they can use a freakin rangefinder.
How do you even place the bag and throw obstructed in 30 seconds?
Seems out of context… I've definitely sat my bag down, grabbed a disc I wanted to use for my upshot out of a rough/treeline etc, and only after I found my disc did I realize I had sat my bag further up than my lie was. But, I never have gone back and moved it back in line with me. Never did I have the intention of gaining an advantage, it was simply out of consideration of the speed of play. And considering there is a time limit outlined in the rules that you must take your next shot 30 seconds after you approach your lie, she very well could have been worrying about that being used against her.
That is such a rookie move….. come on

I saw in one of the big events, can’t remember which, but it was rainy and muddy and a few players put their towels down on the ground for footing. How is that allowed? I mean if you can put a towel down, why not a nice mat!?

if a rule says that you cant use any device that directly assists in making a throw then rangefinder goes under that category. how the hell did we even play the game before rangefinders, ah? now if you place something on the fairway to aim better, then youre just an idiot and shouldnt even be a pro. all you should have is your bag and discs. everything else has to be your own decision( how far and what to throw). period when it comes to caddies giving you advice, then its you , who is playing the game, not your caddie. half of it is a mental game and if that part of you is weak then work on it

Hey disc golf world, I have one question: Is it also this kind of violation when player cannot see the basket and ask somebody to ring the chains so he/she can aim according to where the noise comes from? 🙂
