The officials have to know the frustration of those that are playing in pace. They just need to have the guts to issue a penalty shot to those that aren’t on pace, especially if the player is notorious for playing slow.
IDK. Sure was i surprised how late it was when the Masters finished? Sure. I don't think.the fans really think about it like that. But I know players do.
1. All players in a professional sport are paid, so that is not a good augment, a QB without a quick release, does not start !!!
Split tee starts, change the tv coverage, penalize the slow player, w strokes, not fines !!
LIv has produced their numbers on pace of play, averaging around 4 hours 25 minutes and they play 3 balls. So there is a comparative benchmark
Xander sounds awfully arrogant defending slow play on Tour. I lost some respect. It is the same game Xander. The gutless rules makers and officials are too scared to make and enforce policies. There is a lot of bureaucracy so the blame gets spread around which doesn’t help.
The fact baseball is on a clock tells me golf needs it also.
It’s not about data and shaming people it’s about making and enforcing rules that give players time but not so much time they hurt the sport as a whole. As long as rules are consistent there’s no problems.
Cantlay said he is slower than average. That’s not really saying he is slow.
Since covid people think they don’t have to take bunkers. Courses need to retract players with signs and by talking and on the ticket. We really need to address the lazy bunker maintenance by players. Especially since courses cut corners more and more, starting with not raking bunkers.
