    Think a lot of Americans were sad they lost but deep down didn't mind losing to Japan especially Ohtani cuz they recognize greatness cuz they are great themselves.

    Except for US pitchers, best players participated in this year's WBC. In MLB, elite players are scattered through 30 teams; in WBC, most of these same players played for only 4-5 teams (US, DR, PR, Venezuela, maybe Japan). Consequently, these teams featured all-star lineups that look superior to that of the WS champion Astros. They then played for the passion and pride of their respective nations. No wonder this WBC was compelling.

    Ohtani gets the strike out…..but you gotta tip your cap to Trout on those first two balls he spat on. He's got an insanely good eye. Any other batter would have swung at those.
