For a long time, Roy Jones Jr. dominated the professional ring, becoming the world middleweight champion, and then successfully moving through each weight division, going all the way to the top. Despite his success, he seemed to continually seek out new titles to conquer. Even in the heavyweight division, where he dreamed of fighting Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, or Lennox Lewis, Jones owned the WBA belt. But negotiations fell through. He refused a fight with Vitali Klitschko himself, deciding instead to return to his usual light heavyweight. But Antonio Tarver already ruled there, and he had promised the whole world to dispel the myth of Jones’ impeccable defense.

  1. Well, of course, what does video isn’t saying is tarvef caught Jones at the end of his career and not in his prime?

  2. Even with the defeats Roy will always be one of the best,an older Roy didn't need to fight but credit to the man he carried on fighting because he loved boxing not because he was broke

  3. RJ was super quick with cat like reflexes, once his physical attributes started to erode he started getting knocked out. I wish he retired after the Ruiz fight and his legacy wound be more appreciated

  4. Love to read the excuses from Roy fans who can't accept the fact that Tarver exposed him 3 times!

  5. He was never the same after going up to heavyweight and then coming back down. Losing all that weight in muscle. Tarver knew Jones would be fatigued big time that's why he taunted him so much. If this fight would have happened a few years before Jones would have took Tarver out in 3 rounds

  6. The hungrier man will eat. Jones lost his prey drive sitting at the top, doesn't take away from what he accomplished when he was young and hungry for it, and cutting 11kg is no joke, especially when its mostly lean mass. Scoffing at that is ridiculous. It most definitely effected him.

  7. Roy was already passed his prime. Time ended his era nothing more. Tarver would've never beet him in his prime.

  8. NO! His “rap career” ENDED the Roy Jones Jr. era. His head got to BIGG and he started thinking he was untouchable, so he started slacking and not taking fights seriously anymore so his training was 100% like before. Basically he wasn’t hungry anymore since he was eating.
