Revisit Rickie Fowler’s epic comeback at THE PLAYERS Championship 2015, where he came back from a five-shot deficit with six holes to play. After a three-hole aggregate playoff, Fowler defeated Kevin Kisner in a sudden-death playoff on the 17th hole to claim victory at TPC Sawgrass.

TPC Sawgrass will once again host THE PLAYERS Championship, with 43 of the top 50 golfers in the world teeing it up at the iconic event. After a brilliant run that has seen him claim three wins in six starts on the PGA TOUR this year, World No. 1 Jon Rahm will lead the field. Reigning FedExCup Champion and winner of THE PLAYERS in 2019 Rory McIlroy will be confident in challenging for glory after an impressive showing at last week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational saw him finish T2, just one shot behind eventual winner Kurt Kitayama. All 14 players who have won on TOUR this season will be competing, including Max Homa, who currently sits in second in the FedExCup Standings. The Californian shot an impressive 6-under-par 66 in the final round of last year’s event to finish T13. 2021 winner Justin Thomas will be looking for his first win since the 2022 PGA Championship. The World No. 9 has recorded just one top-10 finish so far in 2023 and will be looking to recreate some of the magic that saw him shoot a combined 12-under-par across rounds three and four to secure THE PLAYERS two years ago. 30 players will be competing in the event for the first time, including 2022 Wyndham Championship and Shriners Children’s Open winner Tom Kim.

  1. One of the coolest finishes ever, hope he gets back in the winners circle this year

  2. Such a fine finish. Rickie Fowler goes birdie-birdie-par-eagle-birdie-birdie to make the playoff against Sergio Garcia and Kevin Kisner. Fowler wins in sudden death on 17 with an absolute dart. Long live Rickie Fowler.

  3. Absolute stud for sticking it to less than 10ft 3 times in a row on the island green during those stakes. A Sunday afternoon for the books by rickie

  4. This is so cool. I remember Cam Smith hitting an amazing approach shot to secure the 2022 Players, you should post that!

P.S. Hello all PGA Bootlicking boomer parrots 😎

  6. OUR MAN RICKY WITH THE COME BACK, well well earned Ricky wow, so so happy for this man, all the hours all the hate all the almost wins. Happy day for golfers everywhere, your fans hate your win brother, may the golf gods continue to be with you.

  7. That year was drama city…. that island green on #17 is like watching Breaking Bad towards end of an episode.

  8. Shame on The PGA Tour for not allowing some of the best players in the world to compete this week. HYPOCRITES.

  9. That three 17th hole shot is the SAME trajectory every time – absolutely crazy consistency, and indeed as PGA Tour YouTube says – epic win AT THE 17TH.
