I've never been this early to a video!
Could you just bend your lie to help this?
Very good explanation Mark.
Also getting fitted for clubs will help with your misses. I was fitted in April last year for irons and the fitter noticed the toe of my irons was up. Once he gave me a club with the proper lie, my ball striking improved greatly. As a lefty I was missing many shots to the right.
I've been struggling with this problem and couldn't figure it out. Thanks Mark you shaftoid. Lol
Excellent explanation Mark. Some of my wedges do go left and leave me wondering why. Good tips to follow up, have saved the video thankyou.
I keep forgetting to stand closer and more upright – thanks for the reminder 👍
Wow! Just stepped outside to my net after watching this. Instantly better! Thanks Mark!!
Have you ever given golf lessons to a seated golfer? I have the same issue pulling my lofted clubs, but play from a SoloRider in a seated position.
I made the mistake of telling my mates to watch your videos, now they're getting better too. Thanks Mark!
I'm constantly pulling my chip shots. gonna try this
This video is absolutely brilliant! I've been working on this since seeing something similar on another channel but Mark's explanation is far superior. I've also tried incorporating this type of swing idea into my other non-wedges like the 9i, 8i, and 7i and have seen improvements there too. Really sound advice!
Holding a golf towel between both arm pits will keep your arms connected to your body. Doing that, for some reason also makes me stand slightly taller which is a plus.
Raymondo putting together a YouTube golfer summit there at Pula golf Mallorca?
Thanks, Mark — that was excellent. A question though, re: lie angles. I read once about tour pros, say Ping staffers, who routinely use flatter lies for their wedges than for their irons — e.g., blue dot for 3-9 irons, and black/red dot for the PW-GW-SW — since the last thing they need is more 'help' drawing their short irons/wedges. First, is that true — am I remembering that right? Second, it it is true, do you recommend that for average/decent golfers too? Third, if so, how does that relate with your suggestion for higher hands in the set-up? Thanks again, always fine work.
To encourage a higher upright handle/lower toe setup, do you ever have students take more of a palm grip with their wedges but still a fingers grip for their full shots?
If you always encourage a fingers grip, do you try to preset more ulnar deviation at setup to get the handle higher?
I have to say that I'm baffled by how I am significantly pulling my PW but not my 9i or other higher lofted wedges. I have the Taylormade Stealth irons up to the PW and the Cleveland Smartsole wedges. So there's maybe something about the Clevelands that are preventing the pull. But I'm a bit baffled why I'm not progressively pulling the Stealths a little less as I club up. The PW is an anomaly.
People always comment about how low I hit my wedges and why I can hit a lob wedge from 95 yards when I can barely carry a driver 250. This is how. Arms long, step into front foot and turn while holding the face. That's it.
Another awesome tip, love your style, so easy and simple to do
