  1. One thing I do with the circle putt clock drill, if I miss one from 2 feet I’ll put that ball back at 4 feet and then if I make the same line from 4 I can keep going in the circle if not then I have to start over.

  2. The pace and line matching is huge. It drives me crazy when people ask “what do you think, a cup to the right?” Well, it all depends how hard you hit it

  3. i play in a weekly 9 hole league with a partner- best score counts. he has no confidence in any of his putts- be it pace, line, etc. on the reverse, side, i am confident i can make any putt, even the 30 footers. my 18 hole putting average is 30.2. i really want to get it below 30. 2 hours a week just doing the circle and ladder drills. circles from 3 to 8 feet. allowed to miss one starting at 6 feet.
only part of my game i can count on every time i'm on the course

  4. Baus – how many putts per game should we be striving for? My average is 33 per round at a 14-15 handicap. Just wondering how many strokes I could shave by spending more time on the putting green.

  5. Great video Playa. I consider myself a good putter. I think it's because I don't let my brain tell me the putt is harder than it is. I seldom 3 putt and those are usually when I lag a bogey putt to 3-4 ft and just walk up to bang it in the back of the hole. My hcp dropped dramatically after practicing my wedges inside 100 yds, chipping & being confident on 5ft and in putts. When I see a chip or approach 5 ft and in from the pin I smile cause I know it's going in the hole. My swing is terrible but I keep the ball mostly in play, but my practice before a round is chipping and putting. My hcp with your systems has kept me at 9. You're a Baus!

  6. Hey Matt great videos! I was wondering if you could make a video on your new approach to putting. I’ve been reading putting books recently (unconscious putting) and I’m having a hard time applying the principles of looking at your start line. I usually have a line on my ball and line up with that but I’m a bit confused as to how to find a small target in front of the ball without losing sight of it as I align my putter head. So maybe you could go through how you do it. Thanks !!!

  7. I grabbed bobs book on audible just the other day.
Planning to listen on the way to my golf road trip.

  8. "Practice perfectly Don't just practice junk." I love this!
I had a mentor growing up that said "practice doesn't make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect."
You can't expect to go through the motions each practice session and come out better.
Baus Matt's infinite wisdom shines again!

  9. 5:26 That’s when I do my putts. It’s just me and the grounds crew at the club 2-3 times a week. But, that’s also baby-makin’ time.

  10. Great video. For years I’ve held the belief that the game is best learned from the green backwards to the tee. If you putt with confidence, it takes pressure off your chipping and pitching. If you chip and pitch confidently, it takes pressure off approach shots. Confidence also soars when you can plan shots to where your typical miss hit leaves you with a shot you have confidence in so you can still get up and down.

  11. The first time i attended a PGA Tour event, we watched one green for several hours. We didn't see ONE birdie. After only watching golf channel highlights, that was an eye opener!! The Pros are good, but the highlights are at another level.

  12. When I started get truly into golf back in 2014/15 I watched tons of tutorials online. Most of them focused on swing patterns and techniques. Those videos helped a great deal, but I found myself stagnant with my skills. Once I found videos like yours years back my whole entire game changed. It was definitely an added blessing in disguise that my driver broke back ~2018, the same time I came upon your videos, because it made me focus on all the important parts of the game I was neglecting. Thanks Playa. Many thanks indeed.

  13. Completely irrelevant comment, but you said jack Nicholson instead of jack Nicklaus…..good video as usual

  14. man I gotta commemd you. 100% correct. I was a regular 3 putter . but 3 years ago I started practicing putting and chipping (live 3 mins from golf course). I would go out for 2 to 3 hours every 2-3 days. place 6 balls all around a hole at 3 foot distance. when i made all 6in a row, I would move to 6 foot (80% goal), 9 foot(50% goal or within 12" and 12 foot(50% goal or within 18".
another drill was 6 balls in a row. 3, 4, 5, 6, 8,10 and 12 feet (really helps seeing the line and consistently hitting it)
putting is far and away my best skill now. i practiced one handed and with a yard stick to control putter path and speed, as a result I can no longer putt 2 handed. get so many ppl trying to putt 1 handed while playing with me. 10-15' my goal is 1' or less to hole, 15-25 foot 2 feet to pin and 25+ goal is 3 foot to pin. I've 1 putt so many putts because of the confidence and lack of pressure. a lot of 25+ foot putts and inside 3 feet rarely missed. cheers and love the series

  15. I bought a putting mat because the baus Matt asks me how much time i spend putting. I’m really good on the mat, not so good on the real greens yet haha
