Coach Caleb reviews the basics of our tee work. We recommend at least 10 swings off the tee DAILY. Tee work is a good warm-up before soft toss work or batting practice. It is great for working on individual mechanics. At a minimum, players hitting off a tee should be focused on:
1) Hitting the inside of the baseball up the middle and to the opposite field.
-The ball should never be pulled off of the tee unless you are specifically working inside pitches. Placing the baseball on the tee with a 2-seam fastball grip facing the swing path helps keep the swing focused on staying inside the baseball.
2) Proper stance and foot placement.
-Our tee swings need to be the same on every swing. It is important to be in a comfortable and REPEATABLE stance where the hands and bat path can meet the baseball out in front of the body.
3) Using the legs.
-The back knee/backside should be driving down while the front leg locks out. Think “drive the knees together.”
