I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!

Many thanks Rick
How many #1 rules can you tell? Rick: „Yes“
Not much worse than watching that ball fly straight right into the same bunker
How do you play it when there's lots and lots of sand in the bunker, and, what about a plugged ball in deep sand?
I can't open the face on my 58° because I have a big foot high toe wedges with 15° of bounce. Every review says you can't open it is this correct?
Our problem here where I live…The Sand traps have only ONE inch of soft sand…Then its hard packed sand like concrete. It will make your club bounce strait into the ball …blading it..instead of going under the ball. I know this is just poor golf course conditions….but it makes it 10 times harder!
I have always squared the face, not closed, but its because of something you said. I always thought opening the face pointed the club way right.
I feel like it is super hit or miss where I play if the bunkers are actually fluffy or hard pan. So for where I play rule 1 is assess the bunker to see if there is even a chance of splashing it out or you have to pick it out by hitting it clean.
Rick still rocking SM8's mate get your hands on the SM9's surely your grooves are well worn already!
I love my 60 for short sand shots and if really short will do the lowering big time with speed. I do not like opening the face unless I really have to because it lessens the odds for me of hitting it well. I get it, and for a flop which I rarely play I will try it but the failure rate is too high for me. Of course, I'm not a great golfer, mid 80's, but hoping to break 80 this year.
The best sand lesson I got taught me to lean slightly toward the target and to put (& keep) 90% of my weight on my lead foot – changed my game. The drill to practice is to:
• Position the ball in front of your lead foot
• Put your knees together (touching)
• Put your trail toe behind your lead heel with your trail foot being vertical and your trail calf perpendicular to the target line (only the toe touches the sand)
This prevents weight shift during the swing (if you shift your weight you fall over) and teaches the proper contact.
Then a rounded swing with an open face for soft sand and an upright swing with a square face if the sand is wet/hard.
Try it – you’ll like it
Im actually decent at bunker shots, just fucking useless at everything else
I know a guy who gets out of a greenside bunker using a putter
that was a lot of #1 rules, hahaha
I certainly try that every time. Varying results lol
The one rule is LOFT. Jokes on Rick when I absolutely slap it over the lip with my putter to avoid a 7 shot catastrophe.
I find that many amateurs struggle out of the bunkers because they're convinced it's hard. If it's wet, hard, or if it's more clay than "sand" and if there's hardly any lip to worry about I'll play the shot like a chip with great success. Granted you have to give it more than if you were playing it from the grass to compensate for the sand you take but it works and it also checks up really hard. You need to do a fairway bunker video Rick.
I've done exactly all these tips and still not got out of bunkers before. Not sure where there are bunkers that look like these but the courses I play have really fluffy, deep sand. It is all too easy to take all sand and no ball, leaving the ball in the bunker. You can say that doing all this will guarantee you'll get out first try but at the end of the day it's frankly not true. Love the videos Rick but would have liked to see you show us more with different types of bunkers.
I've watch a bunch of your sand shot videos… they have helped quite a bit, so thanks
Rick, I know this is off topic but do you wear a new pair of golf shoes for every video!?
Great video Shielsy, now find a bunker with basically no sand and make a video of that, 2 of 3 courses in my area have virtually no sand in the green side bunkers.
A green side boonker Rick?
This is amazing! I watched this video just before I hit a round at Ruiru Sports Club, Kenya. As fate would have it, I got into the bunker on 18! I tried this and the results were amazing. Open the club – key words. Asante Rick
There's a few more fundamentals to add with "regular" greenside bunker shots:
1. Keep more weight on lead foot
2. Position ball ahead of centre (closer to your driver set up)
3. Keep your lower body relatively still (you don't need weight shift)
4. USE THE BOUNCE OF THE CLUB to compress the sand.
Also, don't forget to fluff up the ball to make it easier, who's watching?? lol
My loft is always the problem when I'm hitting shots…. my Lack Of F*cking Talent
I think me and Rick have a different understanding of the word ‘speed’.
Great video Rick, it's a part of the game that's always hurt me even though I would be quite a good wedge player. I'll definitely be trying that the next day I'm on the course.
At some point a teacher/pro told me to think like I'm 'sweeping' the ball out, to help keep width in my swing, keeping it shallow instead of steep, and that has always helped me (and I agree with everything in the video)👍
I switched from a 56 to a 60 wedge. It was intimidating at first but after a few practice rounds it's my goto in the sand now!
This makes absolute sense and thanks for sharing it.
Mr Gary player… The best bunker player…… Just follow his advice work 💯 Percent guarantee
My dad got out a greenside bunker with a putter last week, no joke.
Great video. Love these. I love how you covered two different swing angles too, cause I'm prone to the old school method but now I want to try lowering the grip and swinging straight as I feel my results with the old school angle is inconsistent. Also, I think you should get Guy into these videos. Multi-personality channel.
I use 64 degree so I don’t have to open the face as much. Works fantastic and easier to hit straight
Rick would you still apply this hitting out of a bunker where the sand is wet and like cement?
What grip pressure is needed? Do you need to grip tighter to ensure you hold the club in position through the sand?
What about when there is next to no sand below the ball?
that was an absolutely brilliant golf lesso. More of these please. Keep me wanting to play golf.
Love the videos. Keep ‘em coming. You have brought my game to a new level brother.
(Next video…. Take an average joe(I.e.
me) and turn said person (I.E.me) into a tournament winner…😂I, Door Dongin, can guarantee if you open you face, you Will NOT get out of every bunker!
