The number one question on my channel is “does it work with the driver?”.

The “it” that is being referred to is WEIGHT FORWARD, and the answer is emphatically “YES”!

As discussed in my most recent video “THE WRENCH”, people are scared (and often discouraged) from having their weight forward for any of their clubs, but especially the driver. The belief is that weight forward = steep angle of attack and will cause you to hit down to much, inducing a slice and robbing you of distance. This is simply not the case!

Not only does weight forward not = steep, it also makes swinging from in-to-out and hitting a draw EASIER… yes, that’s right, weight forward = draws for days!

So if you’re ready to hit the driver better than you ever imagined possible, get your weight forward, keep it there, and swing your hands around you. Enjoy the bombs! 💣

  1. I decided to try this concept after trying countless theories. I didn’t bother to practice figuring what the hell do I have to lose. I typically shoot around 90. The first par 5 I reached in 2 and made a birdie. On a 369 yard par 4 slight dogleg left my drive might have hit the cart path but landed in the middle of the fairway 36 yards from the front of the green. I usually hit my drives 200 to 225. I ended up shooting 81 after screwing up 2 holes with a double and a triple bogey. The lowest I have ever shot was 79 a handful of times. However at nearly 70 years old it seems you have found me a new power source. If you weren’t half way around the world I would come see you personally. Thank you for the great explanations you give in every video.

  2. How do we turn the hips or rotate around the lead side, with the weight forward, what should I be doing to open my hips and rotate around them?

  3. Great video! I have been struggling of late to make solid contact. Your concluding comments to 'Turn your feet out' are spot on for me!! Went to the range today and I seem to be back on track thanks to the 'wrench' and turning my feet out. Thank you for your great work and your desire to help us. Keep up the fantastic job!!

  4. Rob – love the content. Question: during setup when I bump my hips to the left my right shoulder naturally goes back so my shoulder line is pointing right of target. This has been giving me lot of in-to-out. Do I need to consciously keep my shoulder line more neutral or is this part of the intention of the hip bump? Thanks!

  5. How do you refrain from continuing to push the weight farther forward during transition? I tend to do that. Then the head falls back, the lead shoulder rises up and the trail shoulder drops. Can you say "Flip?" Whenever I put a shaft in the ground just outside my lead hip I crush it. That tells me the weight doesn't keep moving forward, but stays centered over the lead foot. That sound right?

  6. Hi Rob this is an awesome way to play golf so much power . Am I correct in thinking that on the downswing all you have to do is push up with your left knee that then pushes you're shoulder up and left . and your right side just follows . That's certainly how I feel it happens for me ?

  7. You have demonstrated with the driver and the irons. Can you do one using the 3 & 5 fairway wood and the hybrids. Thanks Rob

  8. Rob, Great video. Because you have asked for our questions, I would like to ask you whether you have a video on how to square club face at impact. I did a test with the GEARS system (in Paris) and it shows that at impact my club face is closed. This seems to be the reason why I am playing straight pulls and sometimes pull-hooks. I understand the latter is mainly related to club path. By the way, I did in Paris a fitting for an EDEL putter. Thanks. Best wishes, Carlos

  10. If anyone can detail the effect pressure points in the hands has on hinging and setting the flying wedge on the proper angle and plane it's you Rob. I lose the feel of how my hands are oriented in the back swing. Please do a video on this issue. Thanks and regards, Bob in Atlanta, Georgia

  11. Like most of your followers I'm moving to the S&T swing.
Are you advocating here, that while learning, most of our weight is on the front foot and then stays there? I do enjoy the way you teach (clarity and detail).

  12. I happened to watch Tom Saguto's iron video on Monday and used his/this method of weight forward on Tuesday's round. Shot an 82, 3 birdies and had a 281 yd drive and I only hit behind the ball once. Not bad for 15 hcp. Now I'm going to watch the wrench video.

  13. Rob, our golf season just started and your lessons have had a positive impact on my game, especially the correct way to use the wrist and both of the weight forward video’s but I have a problem, I have arthritis in my left knee and it can be difficult to post on my left leg when I use the weight forward golf swing, a knee brace helps. Is there a way I can accomplish the stacked golf swing without a leg straightening post on the follow through. I really enjoy your golf instruction.

  14. Definitely looks easier than trying to move body parts around from neutral to back foot to front Taking this tip to course on Monday First time viewer, do you use same technique on irons ?

  15. Wish I knew of you years ago. Rob, your explanations on what I now know were my best days on the golf course would have helped me understand better how to build more consistency into my game. You are the answer to the Shakesperean dilemma, "it was the best of times and yet, it was the worst of times." Consistency is always better when it comes to golf.

  16. I realized after trying this multiple times (with frustration) that the ‘key’ is how you set your weight forward. This can NOT be underestimated. Seriously…. watch this part of the video several times 2:15. When you set your weight forward properly with the hips, your swing will become very, very consistent.

  17. Hi Rob…new to the channel and loving the content I’ve went back and watched. Can I ask what your swing thoughts are on the course? Is it shot shape / start line….target…mechanical? Thanks

  18. I look forward to trying this out at the range tomorrow. Just a little confused. I have followed you and Nick for some time now and you’ve helped me a lot. However I don’t recall this direction of 100% weight on lead leg before. Am I missing something?

  19. Such great stuff. (I feel like a broken record) As for suggestions for future content, and also ties in with this, what is a great drill for transition from P4 to P5? I feel where I struggle is in keeping weight moving forward while keeping head (and shoulders) from also moving forward which is obviously no good…. Thank you so much for such great content
