A bogey on a par 5 with one club is terrible? C'mon man. What I'd like to see is Rick go out with an actual bad golfer (30+ Handicap). Play 9 without any coaching or advice then play the back 9 helping the golfer to see how simple adjustments can improve your game for us normies.
If you say you hit your 7I about 150 yds, 515yd hole /150 is 3 shots to get in range and the 4th shot is on the green and then putting. It shouldn't be hard for a Pro or any sub 12 handicapper. Once you get to about a 25 handicapper and beyond it will be hard. It would not be hard for Rick, except he needs to get rid of that draw, bordering on a hook. Hit the ball straight and not at any trouble… Find a 580-600 yd Par 5 if you want it to be hard, that last 7I would have to be at the pin to have a chance. Here is a game for Rick to try with someone. You both show up with your full bag, you opponent gets to pick 3 clubs for you while you do the same for him/her. You get a wood, a long iron, a short iron and your putter to play with. Now go play against each other. Stroke play only. It's a great way to improve your improvisational skills on the course. Can you hit 1/2 a driver or a 5/8s 5I? You'll find out what's missing in your game, especially if you play with the other player routinely, because they know your game better than you expect.
I once played the last 10 holes of a tournament round with just a 7 iron. I got pissed after 4 putting the 8th hole and slicing my drive on the 9th hole into the fairway bunker, so I played the rest of the round with a 7 iron. I think I ended up at 102 or something like that. Let's just say that by the 13th hole I was flushing the 7 iron on every shot, as you eventually perfect it, hitting it so much.
Rick Shiels makes bogey on a par 5: DISASTER I make bogey on a par 5: Party at my place! Hey everybody, look who made a 6! A SIX! ON A PAR 5! Take my picture! Save this ball forever!
Not a terrible bogey all things considered. I actually play the majority of my golf with one club, have done one club challenges as the majority of my rounds for the past 25 years haha. Scratch with 7 Iron Only is always the goal, and a lot easier than most people realize, but the key to doing that is tee off from tees that still allow you to reach greens in regulation or get close enough to pitch and "putt" for par saves. So 500 yard par 5 is typically easy to reach with 3 full shots of a 7 Iron, par 4s 300-350 are reachable in regulation but the tricky stuff is actually the holes that require play with partial swings, like say a 100-120 yard par 3 or similar yardage for approach on par 4s. I demonstrate how it's done in my vids 👊😉👍 if I choose to play from the back tees I just adjust my goal, like say .5 strokes over par per hole, or break 80, or on a day where the swing or my back isn't feeling great I'll go with bogey golf as the main goal to beat. That being said, under par is possible doing it the way I first suggested! Proof in vids
I played my best-ever at a local (long and undulating) par 5: Driver, 5w, 3 hybrid and 8 iron which took me on the fringe in 4. Two putts from the fringe for a 6. Same result as Rick, I was overjoyed, he sounds disgusted 😄

I did this once

7 iron is the best
I would think you could still par with a 7i. 140 with 7? That’s crazy.
Probably only went 140 yards 😂😂😂😂😂😂 ffs if I hit 140 yards with my 7 Its about as good as it’s getting 😂😂😂😂😂

I find it helpful to play practice rounds with only one club. Helps to learn exactly what I’m capable of doing with each club.
Must agree, for most people 140 yard with a 7I is a really good shot, but most people aren’t professionals.
Not bad. It doesn't look easy, but golf never is
I hope you try this again when you hit good shots. And try it with a different club. I enjoy your videos.
very creative
How is it hard? Hit it 3 times. Bam on the green.
“Probably only went about 140yds” It’s a good day if I can hit a driver that far
140 only with your 7? That's my driving range distance
Rick is still beating me on the course with only an 7i 🙁
What do you use to do your tracers?
Only 140 yards wi a 7 iron u best book in for a lesson or 2 Rick 😀🤣😀🤣😀🤣😀🤣
I feel like I saw this in a movie once…

Son of a birch plays a decent par 5 with a 7-iron better than I usually play with my entire set
I wanna see a 7 iron bunker shot 😀
Any plans to do a long term review of the Garmin approach s62? Much appreciated!
What watch are you using? Or what watch app?
Did you score par on par5 with a pitching wedge? 🙂
Hi Rick.. Noticed there not much info on the PXG 0211 putters on YouTube. Any chance of a review?? Keep up the great work 👍
What is your recommended golf shoe under $75?
Lol I couldn't hit my driver the other day and I contemplated doing this
What app you using with your watch rick?
Great video Rick, I would be okay with a bogey using a full set of sticks any day of the week.

How is this "DISTASTER" or even a disaster Rick?
I would have made an 8!!
A cleaner first shot and you had an easy par. 20 handicaps should take note.

I tried this and went double double and bogey, was fun tho
Here ya go Rick, reposted an older video for ya 😉 https://youtube.com/shorts/2aC3E1s9hAk?feature=share
Must of been a really easy course
What is that watch he's wearing?
That’s actually not terrible haha
You suck. But can you do a review again on the Garmin R10 ?
We're just getting trolled here…
cmon single bogey is pretty good
James Robinson would have gotten at least a par ; )
“Only hit it 140” Me, “Hey what is this?” “140” “A 7 iron then”
I play every hole with my 7 iron because I can't hit woods very well.
Bogey? Terrible? Humblebrag.

I'd take a bogey on a par 5 tbh
