Using my late father’s 40+ year old 56* Tony Penna Sand Wedge…. still works fine…. goes almost as well as a new Vokey SM8… WELL not quite… but I could bag it. I tried a few 50 yard pitches, some 20 yard chip shots, some high flighted floaters and some greenside type vertical shots… all nice feel, all well executed by the club… me not so much. Sore back, sore knees, effed left wrist, yada yada yada.
This Toney Penna wedge is a 1970s tiny bladed forged iron with nice feel… perfect for 50 to 105 yds. It goes marginally shorter on full shots than my old Cleveland 56* SW or Titleist SM5 56*SW, probably more like a modern day 60* Lob Wedge…. still a very nice iron
