I’m interested in learning and playing ancient games, and Senet is the first game we’ll build and learn. Senet is an ancient Eqyptian game that is found in some tombs of Pharaohs and hieroglyphs.
The game is a 2-player game.
The basic layout is a board of three rows with ten squares each. 5 pieces for each player, and 4 sticks are used to determine the number of movements per turn.
I use a 2×4 block of wood for the board and decided to drill holes in each square so I could use golf tees as the pieces. Popsicle sticks were the easy choice for the throwing sticks, and the colors were all painted with black and white acrylic or black permanent marker.
This was a fairly easy game to make, and you can make your own adjustments, but here’s a link to the basic layout of the board:
Please be safe and don’t operate power tools without adult supervision!
Rules of the game and how to play will be on the next video. Enjoy!
