Michigan beat Rutgers in the first half 36-27, and lost the second half 36-34 (for a final score of 71-64 as a lot of bettors suffered a bad beat when it looked as though Michigan was for sure going to cover the spread).
The man of the night for the Maize & Blue was none other than Franz Wagner. Wagner had 20 points on 6-9 shooting (3-4 from three point range), 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. Isaiah Livers did not have his best game offensively (3-10 FGs, 0-4 from 3, 7 points), but he did assist big time on the defensive side of the ball with some key blocks and 6 rebounds. Hunter Dickinson also had an off night on the offensive side of the ball (4-10 FGs, 10 points), but really controlled the paint, forcing Rutgers to take a lot of contested/bad shots and not allowing them to really get any kind of a rhythm. Even when they (Rutgers) went on a run, it was minimal. Something to the tune of a 6-1 run in 5 1/2 minutes of game play.
