Golf etiquette is really about respect. Respecting your fellow human, their time, and their game.
At our home course, we play pretty quick (under 3 hours for 18 holes) and are often asked if we would like to play through. Depending on the circumstances, we generally accept and DOUBLE TIME our play (unless were about the break our personal or the course record – but that scenario hasn’t come up yet).
As a foursome this day, we were on the putting green and noticed a two-some on the fairway. Hands on their hips, exhaling loud enough so we can hear them. Our group made a quick decision that it is best and right to let the two-some play through. They happily accepted and we told them we would wait on the tee box ahead.
I guess we all don’t share in the same spirit. Or I guess they were about to break the course record. Well after watching their tee shot, I don’t think that was the case.
