A wedge fitting for Rory Smith, who has a full card on the EuroPro Tour in 2021. Done at Braid Hills Golf Centre on Liberton Road in Edinburgh.

Really hard to cram all of what you need to do into a 10 minute video so some things are missed out. When doing a wedge fitting make sure you are trying all options available to you. There are 4 different options of head for a 58 degree Vokey for example, not including the finishes. Dry balls are key to a wedge fitting as well. If you are using wet golf balls the ball will just slide and show absolutely no spin.

If I can help anyone understand a little more about what happens in custom fittings, then I’m happy. Wedges are the most important clubs to be looking at on a yearly basis. The more golf you play the quicker your grooves will degenerate and to get the most spin you can you need to be keeping them as fresh as possible.

In a normal wedge fitting we would look at a few other brands. The only reason we didn’t do this in todays session is Rory has always played Vokey and has hit the other wedges on the market already. Cleveland ZipCore getting an honourable mention here.

Videos will get smoother the more we do. The filming an editing will be a little rough for a while.
