Donald Trump has no qualms about running for a third time in 2028 — even if the Constitution forbids him from doing so.
The POTUS, 80, revealed he would “love” to run for the presidency again in the upcoming election, but the “exacting” language in the U.S.’s official government charter is making things a little hazy for him.

“Look, I’d love to run again if I had the chance. But the language is very exacting. I would love to run,” Trump said during a recent appearance on journalist Miranda Devine’s “Pod Force One” podcast.
The president continued: “They had a poll the other day where I beat everybody by so much, I’d love to run. But it’s fine. You know, we have more than two years left — that’s a long time. We can do a lot in that period of time.”
Devine then stopped by Fox Business on Sunday, November 1, to reflect on the conversation she had with Trump.

Host Larry Kudlow then asked her if Trump seemed “wistful.”
“I mean, he acknowledged that he can’t run, he didn’t flirt with it. But in your judgement, was he wistful?” Kudlow, 79, wondered. “Was he thinking, ‘Well, maybe, gee whiz, I wish I could.'”
Devine then noted: “He’s come to terms with the fact that he won’t be running again.”
The Constitution’s 22nd Amendment Does Not Allow for Presidents to Be Elected More Than Twice

The Constitution’s 22nd Amendment strictly limits a president to being elected to office only twice. Trump previously won the presidency the first time around in 2016.
Last year, Trump admitted he’s barred from serving a third term as president, and told reporters before boarding Air Force One: “I would say that, if you read [the Constitution], it’s pretty clear. I’m not allowed to run. It’s too bad. I mean, it’s too bad. But we have a lot of great people.”

There have been other members of Trump’s administration whose names have been floating around in the mix to possibly run in 2028, such as vice president J.D. Vance and secretary of state Marco Rubio.
Vance, 42, shared with journalist Mark Halperin during an interview last month that Trump could fully endorse his 2028 electoral bid.
“I think that Trump’s endorsement just carries more weight than any political endorsement in history because of that. Obviously, the voters are gonna decide. Donald Trump is only one vote of many, but I think his endorsement is still the most powerful. I think if I run, the president will endorse me,” the Hillbilly Elegy author said.
