Kevin Kisner has called for Jacob Bridgeman to play all five sessions at the Presidents Cup at Medinah following his victory on the PGA Tour this past week.
Bridgeman is one of three rookies on Brandt Snedeker’s team for the Presidents Cup. The 26-year-old received a captain’s pick after finishing 12th in the qualification standings. Of course, the highlight of his season came as he won the Genesis Invitational at Riviera.
The youngster also did Snedeker a big favour on Sunday. His victory at the Biltmore Championship Asheville took some of the spotlight away from J.J. Spaun, who responded to being overlooked by winning the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth on the DP World Tour.
It is not difficult to see why Snedeker decided to pick Bridgeman. As well as his victory at the Genesis, he is the number one putter on the PGA Tour this season.
Kevin Kisner calls for Jacob Bridgeman to play five times at the Presidents Cup
Putting well is so important in matchplay. While it is not the only factor, it is often the case that the team that putts better tends to come out on top.
With that, Kevin Kisner has told the Fore Play Podcast that he would send Bridgeman out in every session due to how lethal he is on the greens.
Who will be the leading scorer on each team at the Presidents Cup? 🤔
“Number one in putting this week, with 8.13 strokes gained putting. I’m sending that dude out all five matches at Medinah if he is the best putter on tour and he just won the tour event the week before, beating everybody’s brains in on the greens, you’re playing all five, bud, saddle up,” he said.
“That’s what you want. That’s what we always talk about, it always comes down to putting. When you’ve got the dude, you’ve got the ace of spades in your team, send his a– out there and say go make me some putts. And he hits it great too, but you’ve got a guy out there draining putts, just burying people. When you’re on the other team and guys are just burying putts in your face and you finally think you have an advantage, it’s the best thing about matchplay. If he’s playing with Xander Schauffele on Thursday and Xander hits it to 15 feet all day and the Internationals hit it to 12, and Jacob’s just pouring these 15-footers in your face, and then they’re missing the 12-footers, it’s over dude. The morale’s over. That’s how I made a living in matchplay.”

The four best putters at the Presidents Cup are all on the American team
It is ominous for the International Team that the four best putters across the two lineups at the Presidents Cup are on the American side.
Sam Burns and Scottie Scheffler join Bridgeman in the top 10 for strokes gained putting this year on the PGA Tour, while Russell Henley is 12th.

Christiaan Bezuidenhout is 17th while Sungjae Im is one place lower. No other member of the International Team is inside the top 50.
Someone who is inside that top 50, funnily enough, is Brandt Snedeker himself, with Snedeker winning for a 10th time on tour earlier this season.
Those rankings provide yet another reminder of the size of the challenge facing Geoff Ogilvy’s men over the next few days.
