Having great single-leg strength is crucial for a powerful skating stride and balance in hockey.
Unfortunately, most hockey players fail to build any level of decent unilateral leg strength. They focus too much on feeling a nice pump and stick exclusively to higher rep ranges of 8-12+ reps.
This is far from optimal when your goal is to gain single-leg strength that carries over to the ice.
Our strongest 17-year-olds can split squat over 300 pounds with the bar in the front rack position, and our slightly older guys can do around 350. This is almost 2x their body weight.
How do our hockey players get so strong, so fast?
It comes down to three key training principles which you’ll discover in this video. By following these principles you’ll build impressive single-leg strength that helps you skate faster.
