  1. Sat up all night watching in NZ. I remember Michael Campbell at the US Open in 2006. These moments are precious.
    Ryan’s dad was THE GOAT goal kicker for the All Blacks. Performance under pressure clearly runs in the family.

  13. As a dual national born in NZ but living in the UK, I initislly wanted Fleetwood to win, but when it was clear on day 4 that he was too far back, Fox was my favourite. Third choice? Anyone but "I'm not too fond of him" Dechambeau. Fox's approach of "see it, hit it" is the ideal way to suppress negative thoughts, and boy it paid off for him in the final 4 holes

  19. Amazing, powerful and popular win by one of golf's true gentlemen. Did anyone notice the difference between Dechambeau and Fox before teeing up? Foxy, "All the best", Bryson in response to his opponent saying 'Play well' responded "I will".

  24. Watched it all night too, down the stretch I was going surely not but he looked dialled in. Then coming back from the two bad bunker breaks it was like, he is so unfazed and humble and just dealing with it, that’s what a champion does. Jumped straight out my bed when he sunk it on the 18th. All I can say now is: arise Sir Ryan.

  27. Fox is from NZ. The open being held in the UK but all fans happy for his victory (I’d assume they would have been happy anyone won as long as good fair golf was played). There was no heckling, no “UK! UK!” chants , just respect.

  28. Hard to believe Fox is YOUNGER than Ronaldo. I genuinely thought Fox was 50.

    I like Fox, but he hasn't taken good care of himself, but glad he won over all those dull yanks.

  29. Hardly any footage of Ryan before Tee off. And then absolute buckets of bravery in the moments when he needed the most. Going straight at it and getting all the jelly beans as a result.

    That quite unprecedented three.

    Ah! Seaweed smells from sandy caves
    And thyme and mist in whiffs,
    In-coming tide, Atlantic waves
    Slapping the sunny cliffs,
    Lark song and sea sounds in the air
    And splendour, splendour everywhere.

  37. I was brought up NOT to wear hats/caps in the clubhouse. Is this now forgotten or is it just for celebs?
    Ooops sorry! Well done Ryan. Good play in difficult circumstances with greens like saucepan lids
